That cover, as I noted in the TOC thread previously, does look chaotic and not all too appealing. I don't realy see any kinda theme or composition with characters in the background being both smaller and larger then the characters up front, and even Luffy and Zoro, who seem to be the centre of the whole thing, have drastically different sizes.

…..maybe it's supposed to be a meta-joke for the arc itself having a lot.....going on?
I really don't like the placement of Chopper.
-
I like it, though yeah Vergo should be on it. The title being split in two was really cool though

Meh cover. Overcrowded and the characters seem randomly slapped on. Not much flow. Is it too much to ask for a cover with 5-8 Tashigis just being Tashigi?
-
Do you think this cover might be a part of a bigger picture? That gear and slash look like they are divided into four parts. If next three covers are gonne be like this too(with that gear placed in diffrent corners), then they will make one big picture with a gear in the center and a big slash. It would make sense why this cover look so random, because itd 1/4 of whole conception.
That random kid with blue hair on the right looks just too random. I wonder if there is something behind him that we will see on the next cover. Like Monet. Even Zoro is facing that direction so it would make sense(tashigi is looking there too) Even Momonosuke is looking at something in the top right corener, and since there is nothing on this cover… you get the idea. -
@Dahaka.:

Law's slash effect on the logo is kind of obscured by how crowded the cover is, so it would be really cool if this cover was just the bottom left quadrant of a bigger picture made of 4 volumes, and the slash continued on to the volume that takes up the top right quadrant of a bigger picture. I doubt Oda would do that though.

But that actually makes awesome sense. It obviously was "cut off" on purpose. The next could be dofla, while the two after could feature Kaidou and Marines. I can see that slash going through more obvious places in the logo in later volumes. That would honestly be so cool if 69-72 made one giant volume cover if you will.
And @Dahaka, yea! It actually looks like Momonosuke is actually looking at the upper half of the next cover if it were to be placed next to this one, which is most likely going to be doflamingo considering that volume is basically him lol.
-
Aside from some unintentional laughs from Chopper and Mocha, this cover is as generic as the color beige.

Saying this for a single cover, after Oda pretty much delivers excellent ones almost every time, is pretty. . .yeah. Wathever.
Also, this cover is actually pretty fucking well drawn, and it's a given that it took a hell of a lot of work (about 15 Bleach covers worth of effort, give or take); the composition is not very good and it's crowded as all hell, but, really? Is this a cover that deserves such backlash from almost everyone?
-

LOL, I didn't think it was that bad at first, but everyone seems to hate it.
And I wasn't specifically referring to Oda, I would assume that a lot of people are involved in this process.
-
I like to think Oda does his covers himself, right?
Or at least, I hope so.
If anyone knows the process behind creating a volume cover and the people involved, it'll be welcome.
That being said, I found it going a bit too far to say "someone" needs graphic desing solutions, since I find Oda pretty damn good with cover simmetries and overall composition; this one does look a bit overcrowded, but nothing too bad.
Luffy looks awesome.
-
I don't see what all the fuss is about, I think it's an awesome cover.
Aside from that really awkward molester Chopper, of course..It's definitely crowded but why is that bad?
Also, Oda does not need graphic design tips.
-

I agree. For me, the more exciting, colorful and dynamic, the better.
The only real fault I would give it is that it doesn't feature Vergo or CC, but that's not a deal breaker. And as some have mentioned, that may be on purpose to have the next cover be all villains.
The only reason the crowdedness detracts from it for me is because I barely notices Law's slash effect on the logo, which I think it is a really interesting and creative touch.

That's really the only thing I found disappointing, really..
I kinda get the feeling we're not gonna get to see him on the next cover either, unless his head makes an appearance.
-
I don't care what anyone says, but the composition on this is horrid. Or the lack there of, actually. There are so many things happening, and it's not done in a good way. It's basically a middle school collage: an incoherent mess of stuff slapped on together. There is no focus, and no coherency to surround and entail a focus. It's…a really bad cover. I don't care who appears on the cover, but I care about how it is done.
At least this had composition, elements, and design:
!
And that ain't favorite cover either.
Do note, I am not talking about the art.
-
A 'meh' cover, only thing I like is bloody hatless Law and angry Luffy.

i agree.even aside from the weird choice of characters, this has no flow, and isn't aesthetic pleasing at all.if you look at any previous cover, and i mean any,it will probably be much better than this.personally,i think that this cover could be my least liked cover.
and the art isn't so good as to fill up it's shortcomings.take a look at zoro.he just looks weird to me.
but whatever.a cover isn't the only thing in a volume.there's also SBS,other stuff and higher page quality.it's not like anyone would buy the volume just for the cover. -

That's Lola when she eat Alvida's Sube Sube no Mi…

Quick summary before we get a more detailed one from Greg:
p26
-"I've got an announcement from Oda- he ate the EroEro no Mi!"
-"Do you like breast bands?" (what Kin calls bras)
-"Is Usopp's nose chikuwa [fish paste molded into long tubes]?" Usopp says, yes, it is.
-Quiz- which one is Vergo from behind? Answer, from left to right, Vergo, Bon, Lulu.p46
-Comment on the comparison between Zoro's dragon-slaying and the scene in Wanted!'s "Monsters." Oda was 19 at the time; 38 now.
-Nami read about a lightning island while on Weatheria. It's the same one that Urouge was last seen approaching.pg66
-SHs' order of joining (someone asked about that), as well as the usual heights, ages, birthdays, sea of origin, and debut chapterspg 86
-Regarding Zoro, Kin, Sanji, and Brook's funny running style: It's called the Daba Daba Dash (Maybe a Flintstones connection? Oda doesn't say that though)
-Kinemon's inspiration is an actor named Nakamura Kinosuke (a fan figured it out because his first name has parts from both Kinemon and Momonosuke).
-What character takes longest to draw? Franky Shogun, but for humans, it's women with black hair, because of the technique needed to draw the black hair.pg 106
-Explicit content warning about SBS, from a reader
-Q: Why didn't Caesar ask for Law's dick instead of his heart? A: Well first let's call it a "member" because that's more polite. Which would have more impact? Law holding a heart, or Law holding his member? And what if he had to give the Marines 100 members instead of 100 hearts? Well, then he'd be a member of the Shi_chin_bukai [chinko = dick].
-Q: Can Vergo coat his dick with busoushoku? A: That is a possibility. And as a man, that would be GREAT.
-Smoker should have put Tashigi's bra on his head, just like Oda sensei.pg 146
-ID kids: Hannya, Magellan, Sadie, Saldeath, Domino
-Lola after Sube Sube no Mi (Alvida's fruit)pg 166
-Vergo's breakfast every day is a burger/fries/strawberry shake set.
-A whole bit about Robin and Nami's measurements, where Sanji comes in and tells us, and then Nami gets mad at him and Oda. The usual stupid stuff -

2 details in the RAW.

Chapter 680´s page 3 and 4 are missed in the RAW.

Oda change last panel in chapter 689 (first magazine version and second Volume version).

Thanks for the summary, CCC!
The Imple Down characters as kids… how cute!
But poor Magellan and Sadi :( -
Thanks a lot, Redon and CCC! @nodensuke:
Hmmm.. I guess it really is Caesar Crown.. 2 volumes in a row..
I wouldn't trust this. It's such typical Engrish… and Oda isn't likely to check these recaps very closely.
-
- Chapter 680´s page 3 and 4 are missed in the RAW.
They're still there, just in the wrong order - they're at the end of Chapter 681, after the SBS (066.jpg and 067.jpg).
-

I think it became clear when Caesar gained a "crown" after absorbing Shinokuni.
-
I think it became clear when Caesar gained a "crown" after absorbing Shinokuni.
I was under the impression he gained the crown because he became the "King of Shinokuni" (implied from the chapter name), rather than the possibility of his name being Crown and not Clown….

@CCC:

-SHs' order of joining (someone asked about that), as well as the usual heights, ages, birthdays, sea of origin, and debut chaptersAny new information regarding the "number chapters" we often speculate about?
-

Well, it's 2-2 now. It's been romanized as Crown in both the character intro's at the start of the past two volumes, but it's been spelt C**l**own in both the SJW and volume 67 of his actual character intro-box in the actual chapter. To be honest, I'm actually surprised it wasn't brought up in the SBS.

really, these things are so confusing.and i don't think anyone would ask this in SBS,as they are japanese and probably don't give a damn about english romanisation.i will take the romanisation that appeared in the actual manga over volume introduction.and i like it better.
also,the sbs sounds bland this time.except magellan.dat feel -
Thanks Redon / CCC!
Nothing special sadly, but Magellan as a kid is something.
