The reason why Naruto has been on top (last week and this week) is because this chapter (as well as the one before it) featured the return of most fan's favorite characters back into the main serie.

No its not.

These rankings are in respect to the chapters from 8 weeks back, not the most recent. So for naruto it would be the Juubi awakening (And Kakashi doing stuff), while OP would be the chapter that heavily focused on Brownbeard, and Ceaser laughing at Luffy while expositing future plot points.

A strong-ish Naruto chapter and a weak OP one.

Assclass slipping a little isn't surprising since the novelty of the teacher and the premise in and of itself can't carry it forever, and the chapters were pretty repetitive and straightforward for a while there.

Oh wait…the secondary characters showing up again happened slightly before 8 weeks. I could have sworn it was further back. I can't remember anything based on the silly pace this serie has been going. Hmm maybe Juubi's appearance got the Naruto fans riled up or something.

Depends on which secondaries you mean.

If Guy and Kakashi, that was 9 weeks ago. If you mean… everybody else... that was more recent. (Why Neji, WHY?!?!)

I was thinking about Guy and Kakashi doing stuff which would explain the ranking last week. Maybe the effects of both characters carried over in terms of Naruto's ranking for this week. I think the other secondary characters (cough like Neji) is 5 weeks ago right? So most likely Naruto will be on a role in terms of ranking for a while longer.

Also on the topic of the later, if that did manage to stick around, as american Jump staff seemed to have predicted, I'd love to see all the wankery over the name and whether/how it should be changed due to the presence of a certain band in the english speaking world that might take issue with it etc.

Actually this around is the start of the chapters when Bleach turned "DECENT" for a short while before gradually sliding back into awfulness.

I don't understand how some people find it strange for Naruto to still be popular right now.
Even with its lows it had in the past the manga never lost much popularity (it's still one of the rare manga that sell near 1M per volume).
So how can the final arc featuring all the big players with the main character leading an entire army suddenly be less popular than what we had before ?

On another note, it seems that my prediction about Medaka ending after this arc may be wrong. Since Kiruko and Hungry Joker may be canceled soon, I don't think Medaka can end too.
That would mean 5 new manga debuting in the span of 2-3 months. Did something like that ever happened before ?

Need to catch up again seing last chapter I read was the end of the class trip, but yeah, I can see how the students, being as just kinda there, as they are, would probably bore someone. Not particularly attached to any of them myself.

Maybe we should add the whole "8 weeks behind" thing IN BOLD on the first post. That way misconceptions about it won't crop up every single time a TOC is posted. Or if they still do then we can mock the offender mercilessly.

I dropped AssClass back around chapter 18. Whenever it was they were out of town on a trip and there was a hostage or something…I wanted to like it, but I didn't find any characters appealing.

So I was a bit confused about the WSJ site. Are they a week behind? The only stuff I see posted for the week of 1/28 is the issues we saw last week.

NA WSJ is current with the official release date of JP WSJ. If it feels like we're seeing stuff from a week ago, that's cause we're reading scans of stuff not-legally-acquired-one-way-or-another ~5 days earlier.

I think thats probably my reasoning too and I see other people agreed on this, I've been reading while I dont feel its bad, I don't get attached to any character, not even the teacher and the story kinda being, "new guy come to kill him" can't, two chapters later another guy comes in, its way to repetitive.

The uniqueness of the series appealed to me at first but its gone now.

keep in mind bobobo was from a time when nonsense comedy was in style. gags cant seem to work like that anymore. not that ive read edison in love because im on a beach. im just talking gag manga in generalnow im off to swim and cry about kiruko

PSI Saiki Kusuo is a gag-manga, and it's doing just fine.
In fact, this week's chapter was awesome.

Don't blame the shittiness of a manga on just fads, a horse dung is a smelly pile of shit regardless of where you put it.

I can only guess, cause there are no scanlations of neko wappa. I would assume it had a hard time against the gag section of WSJ during that time (Gintama, PTF Jaguar, Inumari Dashi, Kochikame….). Aohige is probably the only person here, who could answer that question.

I liked Neko Wappa's first few chapters that I read (poorly back then, I'm a slow learner). It was charming. It really wasn't good by any definition of the word though, I'd say. Certainly not as bad as Metallica Metal Luca though.

Okay, read the first two chapters of Edison in Love. Not bad, but certainly not good, nor good enough to survive. Hopefully it improves in time, but I'm not holding my breath. All a shame, really, the concept's sound enough.

Yes, the issue has an earlier street date, but only by like a day I think. So expect the TOC and a trickle of raws by… I dunno, tomorrow, my time? (NZ)

EDIT: on the negativity, yeah, and it's cool. I just tend to swing towards calling something negative for reasons, not something like insulting the audience or a blanket statement on a series, you know (okay, full disclosure that's not entirely true, as I'm VERY anti-entitled pirates and aggressive fanbases, so clearly I do insult some audiences).

Like I wouldn't call, say, Date-senpai a pile of shit, even though objectively it's a line you could throw at it. I'd rather say it was a series with some good gags mired in a pile of less than functional art and a greater amount of gags that just wouldn't land at all. Like... Reasons. Which sounds pretentious, but um... I'm not saying other people should do the same, obviously, but just uh, explaining my approach to stuff like this?

I dunno, this is needless of me. Ignore all that.

More to the point, I like a lot of shit, so I'm probably just an apologist.

Cross Manage being DEAD LAST

After that, I suspect Edison in Love (Uuggghhh…this is really dreadful) and 1 more victim. Not too sure which one it will be...probably will have to wait see what replaces Kiruko/HJ/CM.

Though Assclass is back up on number one~

PS...Edison in Love is vomit inducingly bad. Everything about it is so aesthetically unappealing.

If I were to predict I'd call Kiruko and HJ, with CM having a small chance of surviving another round out of sheer willpower, a la ST&RS.
I'd rather Edison in Love failed to save Kiruko somehow, but being such a short gag series makes it unlikely, and even then HJ would have to drop past Kiruko. I can dream though.

I might actually be the only person who kinda likes Edison in Love. Not because it's good, but rather because I want it to be good.
… Which... Well, after that second chapter I'm not holding my breath.

This is the third. They ran two chapters in its debut issue because they were so short. Both combined barely went over 30 pages, I think. Hence why I think it'll live on a while. Even as a failure they'll want a tankobon's worth of material.

Kiruko has been consistently in the bottom half after like the first 3 weeks… you sure you're not thinking of something else?
Date was the one that was yo-yoing until its demise, most likely becuase the editorial was putting it high towards the front to give it a few chance.
