It was really bad. Couldn't help but get irritated one way or another about most episodes of One Piece in 2012, but I'm not going to waste any energy analyzing this one.
Merry Christmas Toei, you assholes.

You know guys, it was obvious form first episode of this ark, that the gigantification of Luffy will happen, sight, but why it looked so crappy, and by strange logic that was used by creators Luffy should have boobs.
Just watched, and I kinda liked the episode. Not the best ever, but I don't get why you people are making it out to be so bad. No need to dismiss the entire filler arc cause of it.
did people in this episode commited mass suicide?
did people in this episode commited mass suicide?
Yes. The episode was so bad that those involved felt the overwhelming need to remove themselves from existence. :ninja:
did people in this episode commited mass suicide?
Yeah…yeah they did..them Neo marines take their jobs too seriously.
On a more lulzy note, I can't wait until Zach and Ed from the Podcast review this Episode. It's going to be Hilarious.
It's already been unanimously established that this episode was awful, so I'll just throw in a "yikes."
Well, I think everybody has said what there is to say about this awfully badly done episode, they made Luffy look really bad and weak, I can't help think what the non-manga people are thinking right now, If I recall correctly there will be a week hiatus due to holiday right ?

Yep. The annual New Years break.

I'll still say the first two episodes were good. The thing is, though, you have to judge the entire arc by its ending. Take Thriller Bark, for example. Most people will admit the arc was so-so in quality, but its ending was what made it what it is. The same has to apply to filler arcs. The ending is what people will remember the most. Instead of thinking about the possibility this could have had, people will instead remember how Luffy got taken out by an alpaca cannon.
All we can do is hope the Toei executives relax during the holidays and get their act together for Punk Hazard.

It was like four episodes long, so i wasn't really holding out for a stellar ending. Though I guess I lowered my standards for the sake of enjoying things more lol.

That's the problem for me. I think my standards have actually been increasing as of late, which is weird since I'm known as the guy on Arlong Park who's always defending shit such as Fairy Tail. All of a sudden I'm finding it more difficult to defend things such as the latter. Perhaps my tastes are changing? Or perhaps I've been hanging around the nitpickers too long? Who knows, but I guess everyone has their own idea of what they consider good quality and it can change without warning.
The thing is, it's entirely possible to at least plan a better fight scene, even if they are limited to 4 episodes. What went down in this fight with Shuzo is inexcusable, and makes me question whether the writers even read the manga up-to-date. Luffy getting taken down like that felt like it happened pre-time skip.
Toei seem intent on trying to turn One Piece into some weird hentai each chance they get, I swear.

If they did that it would've been better than this week's episode
Okay, so to summarize my thoughts on this entire arc…
575: Yawn.
576: Surprisingly fun.
577: Okay-ish.
578: Yawn.
So yeah, lame beginning, decent middle part, lame ending. But there's one thing that I don't think has been mentioned here that bothered me… How exactly would having a giant inside you make you a better fighter? I mean, wouldn't this also require her to perfectly mimic Luffy's (superhumanly fast… supposedly) movements? And while we're at it, how exactly did his entire body inflate so perfectly anyway? Logically speaking (lol applying logic to a size-changing giant being used as a powerup for a guy made of rubber), wouldn't he just have gotten seriously inflated in that one part of his body which Lily happened to be inside? Or in other words, we shouldn't have gotten Giant Luffy, we should have gotten Pregnant Luffy or Luffy With A Humungous Tumor instead... Why am I even thinking about this? Also how did she not suffocate?
Bottom-line is, that powerup made no sense.
I liked this episode and this entire filler arc, the fight was pretty cool despite the QUALITY and the Luffy-Lily thing was always going to happen, though it's weird that Luffy didn't grow boobs.
I think I might start watching the anime again now
Who was that weak shit who for some reason had Luffy's hat? 'Cause it sure as hell wasn't Luffy.
though it's weird that Luffy didn't grow boobs.
That is a thing that has been said by someone.
Think positively, guys. If we had doubts on which filler arc was the worst, now we don't have anymore.

…Excuse me, isn't the general consensus here that while this was bad, it's still better than Little East Blue?
Because it was totally still better than Little East Blue.

One starts very bad and finish sufficient. One starts good and finish too bad. I can say they're pretty the same level

No Yoko. No Colt. No "Bossu ! Bossu !" No pirates beaten by throwing tiny rocks at them. No setting filled with East Blue character expies, (is that how you spell it in plural ?) and copied locations. No annoying kids with a "Nami Fanclub".
Plus Lilly and Panz ranging from tolerable to decent.

No giant cook with a constat what-the-fuck face, No Luffy that has difficult against an idiot, No idiot longarms fighter that has an idiot fighting style, No fashionable entrance in New World's flaming sea, No Momonga that isn't able to defeat the aforesaid idiot. However the alpaca is good enough!!
I don't care what anyone says. Despite the terrible fight, this arc was far better than Little East Blue, and Lily was a far better filler character.

oh don't worry, I think to be the only one to say they're the same level
Seriously, the existence of the Amigo Pirates makes Little East Blue among the worst ever.
This one is more along the lines of the Ice Hunter arc, with a semi-interesting plot, weird as hell fights, amusing goings on, and so-so/poor payoff.
Anyway, I thought this one was okay, with some decent art and an entertaining, if stupid, fight. The animation was pretty sluggish during the giant segments (it typically is), but I couldn't help but laugh at the Neo Marines throwing their lives away with Franky stating "They're Suuuper Crazy!" and the sub grounding itself for no reason. Yeah, Luffy getting beaten was pretty dumb, especially getting near- Ko'd by a single shot by Alpacacino. I also thought Pans Fry and Lily should have at least done something else other than getting beaten by a single attack.
Then of course there's the giant Luffy stuff, which may have worked better had he not gone into Gear Second. There's also the issue with Luffy's clothes staying intact and shrinking back to normal, but whatever. It just was just underwhelming despite the cool idea and overall wasted potential.

No one here wants to see a naked Luffy.
It's simple to me. The Little East Blue Arc started bad, so I didn't wait anithing by it. This Z's arc started very good and I was waiting for some "Whow" thing, but…
I liked the Little East Blue arc.
At least it didn't involve suicidal pirates and people growing inside of each other like some strange kinky hentai fantasy pulled straight from Satan's ass.
why didn't luffy get boobs

One piece anime is fucked up since the end thriller bark but now it's reached bottom
I mean enies lobbie arc was so cool in the anime and awesome manga adaptations, who remembers the first arcs? I got into one piece because of those, if I had seen these episodes at first I would've never watched it again.
Thank god the manga is still so great :D
@Mr.:

When Ace goes super nova why don't his pants burst into flames?
When Buggy goes bara bara how come his clothes return to normal when he re-attaches himself?
When Chopper goes monster point how come his hat gets enormous?
Because Clothing is always part of the DF user.
So Luffy's clothes expanding and retracting like rubber make sense.
why didn't luffy get boobs
Because there is no bone in breasts?
Lilly's breasts were pressed against Luffy's innards(did I spell that right….)
Luffy was pretty much "Wicked Tight gigantic spandex"
The only thing that did manga to show were the horns on her helmet, which makes absolute sense.
I hope we at least get some decent pacing in Punk Hazard out of this filler :/
I hope we at least get some decent pacing in Punk Hazard out of this filler :/
Four filler-episodes will not be anywhere near enough to let them speed up the pacing for the canon storyline. Even disregarding the fact that the manga also takes breaks every now and then which basically negates the headstart they'd get from this anyway… Seriously. It would give them four extra chapters to work with. Increase the pacing, and they'd be through that in… two weeks? Three if they're lucky?
If they were to actually increase the pace, they'd have to have a really long filler-arc to make up for it. Like, half a year of filler followed by half a year of two-chapter canon episodes or something.

I would be perfectly fine with that….I'm in the minority of people who loves one piece filler.
I liked it…16chars
Sooooooooooooooooo.
