when i first saw him in the first half of the series, i thought kiba was awesome.
it was a guy fighting alongside a dog, using a wild and feral style. i loved the idea.
he also showed some grit in his fight against one of the curse mark folks
(stabbing himself in order to harm the one fused with his body, successfully using his coat as a decoy to escape and recuperate, etc)
Nardo and Bleh Thread III: Naruto is a terrible terrible manga
-
-
Psshh you only like Kiba because he has a dog.
-
Even if Kiba died, who would care? Yeah he may be your favorite character but the way Kishi uses him, the dying thing doesn't really change anything.
Now if Neji died in the real Naruto…..tears will be shed.
-
Such a shame Kishimoto was afraid of the real Naruto. When he saw this : http://mangastream.com/read/rock_lee/83429189/27
He went berserk and just decided to kill underdeveloped Neji in his fake Naruto manga :p -
I'm upset that I have friends who really like Naruto. They like One Piece too, but they're astounded by Naruto's "excellent" drama. I keep quiet and try to play along (I'm successful most times), but it really irks me when people have no taste in good manga. Naruto is really average at best.
So how does everyone else deal with it?
-
Someone actually likes Kiba? Wha? Why?
Idk but even during Kiba vs Naruto I wanted him to win. Pt 2 kiba isnt as good though. n where were ten ten n lee at?
-
I hope Kiba now dies with a huge fart to the face from the ten-tails.
-
So how does everyone else deal with it?
By accepting that other people are always going to have different tastes, especially in subjective areas like art/media,
and that there's no point getting upset about it.when i was in 6th form college, the guy who sat next to me in homeroom was an avid naruto fan.
he would spend forever chatting about it to the guy on the other side of me,
and whenever he noticed me reading a one piece volume, he'd react with disgust and call it crap.but i never called him out on it. there was no point, because after testing the waters i knew that i couldn't sway his opinion.
if he wants to believe that naruto is the world's best manga, then i have no right to stop him.
it makes him happy, and he's not harming anyone, so more power to him. -
I hope Kiba now dies with a huge fart to the face from the ten-tails.
And Kakashi will be like "The Juubi is the world's most unpredictable tailed beast."
-
Hinata is so freaking whipped I swear.
The guy doesn't even acknowledge you and you dive in front of him…
Anyway, I always though Neji was going to die, just never... like this? So rushed...
Just bad execution on Kishi's part here, granted I think we'll see a little more continuation in the next chapter.
Tobi is actually being kinda awesome here, (also a major tool, I'm conflicted), though it bothers me that he knows Madara's real intentions and still is "seemingly going along with it".
But at least he's smart enough that he didn't put all his faith into him.
Bleach was decent, all this talk coming from Renji is disturbing though.
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
Yamcha wasn't enough of a character to have a lame spin-off that somehow started before his awesome canon series…
Yamcha has a pretty apparent personality..

@MDL:

and that there's no point getting upset about it.Well, there lies a problem. I'm pointlessly getting upset about it. I know it's the internet and all, but I kinda want to… do many horrible and horrific things to a bunch of otherwise innocent people. I need stronger meds.
Sorry for wasting your time. I thought I had a valid argument.
-
Really? I always saw Rock Lee as the Yamcha of the Naruto-verse, given his inability to use nin/genjutsu (I forget if Yamcha was able to fly or shoot beams). Then again, Rock Lee had more defining moments than Yamcha, and his losses haven't been humiliating, so maybe that's not such a valid comparison. I suppose Kiba does fit better, since he was the guy who got defeated by a fart to the face…
There's a character in KHR that got defeated by a wall. I don't think anything tops that.
-
Well, a wall is at least something sturdy and physical, while a fart, well, isn't. Then again, I don't read KHR, so I don't know how it went down…
-
http://www.mangahere.com/manga/katekyo_hitman_reborn/v22/c200/10.html
From here, read the next 3 pages. Basically, he charged up his speed to do a final blow, and the dude put a wall in front of him.
-
Sure, that's pretty humiliating, but, in my opinion, losing in front of a crowd because your opponent farted in your face is still lamer (especially since Naruto was seen as a joke by everyone at that point)…

I don't think Naruto was seen as a joke that early. In fact, up until Orochimaru's Death in Part 2, I considered it tolerable. The Three Sannin fight and the Sound Four Arc was good, as was the Naruto vs. Sasuke fight. Kishi stopped caring sometime during Part 2, and that's when it fell apart.

Oh he cared only for the red eyes.
-
The exact point Naruto became retarded is debatable, but I would probably say after Itachi rigged it so Sasuke won.

I guess I should've specified, but I was referring to Naruto the character, not the series. During the Chuunin exam, most of the village (and even his own team) thought he was a loser and outcast who would never make it; he only started gaining recognition after he bested Neji in the finals. Kiba lost to that guy… because he farted in his face. That's definitely more humiliating than running into a wall that was hidden by some kind of power...

That's not really fair to Kiba, since you're simplifying the victory. Naruto did that double switch with Kiba's dog, which was actually pretty smart.
speaking of which, I like how mind games and deception completely disappeared in this series. Sure, there's still strategy implemented at times, but it's always so direct.
The earlier parts of the series felt more clever because you didn't know the end result.
I can't count that eye genjutsu as a mind game (unless you're Danzo.. who can't count to 10).
-
Sure, there was more to it than the fart, but that was what clinched it. Had Naruto not farted and had Kiba's attack connected, then the outcome would, most likely, have been vastly different.
Anyway, yes, strategy no longer means a thing in Naruto (like kido in Bleach). Both of Naruto's victories in the Chuunin exams were due to outsmarting his opponent through deceit (and clones), but at some point Kishi just said "fuck that" and made Naruto's entire arsenal consist of nothing but clones and rasengans. Oh, and eye powers for the protagonist…
-
Hinata is so freaking whipped I swear.
The guy doesn't even acknowledge you and you dive in front of him…
I find it funny that Naruto showed more acknowledgment to Neji's sacrifice then to Hinata's
(in the pain arc)

I don't post here much, and I'm not reading any posts before this one. Please forgive me if I'm beating a dead horse here but:
Fuck you, Kishimoto. Neji's death will no doubt be mourned by thousands of your weeping sheep, but as for those of us who once loved this serious, this is fucking bullshit. Neji is like, a major supporting character getting an extra's death. There's no buildup, no stakes, no foreshadowing, and subsequently, no emotion.
Neji died once before, sort of. Back when he fought Kidomaru. That fight was tense as fuck because Neji's character had a sense of completeness (to a degree) and the fact that Choji had just probably maybe died, the stakes were high. There was plenty of buildup. It was well enough emotional.
But now? Neji is being the example. Anyone can die in this war! But who the fuck cares? Why didn't Neji die sooner? Or if Neji was going to die, why didn't he at least get some decent buildup and foreshadowing. Instead, he just tapers off to cameo character status and gets killed and tossed aside for cheap, unintelligible pathos.
Neji dying should have gutted fucking everybody. It should have been a statement: that nobody was safe. That anybody can die. That this battle was going to end with sacrifices. Not everyone is coming home. Too bad we don't care. I don't care anymore if Shino and Choji live. I don't care if Hinata sacrifices herself. I don't care that Naruto's about to lose those he cares about. Kishimoto clearly hasn't cared for 300 chapters. Naruto does care, but it's so phoned in it's hard to give his agony much props. (Remember when Hinata died?) But now he wants me to care? You're just gonna crawl back in here with this and expect me to love you again with literally no effort on your part? Get out.
-
Thankfully I never cared about any of the characters enough to form any sort of attachment to them, so ha! I win this round Kishimoto!
-
Honestly i still find sorry for neji , i hope lee doesnt die next maybe its gai and he gonna say that lee should only open the 8 gate when he protects the world its such a waste for neji character we could have been a lot more promising on this series, but i has hoping for sakura to die.
-

This is true.
In a way though, Kiba didn't need to win that fight, the fact that he relied so heavily on his nose (instead of just transforming Akamaru again…. idiot ) showed he didn't have what it took to make it yet.
And he was being a complete asshole.
I think that's why most people take his embarrassing loss with a grain of salt.
Yamamoto from KHR... on the other hand was originally the second guy introduced in the series and was always very likeable. He also had this little side story going on where his dad's sword style was supposed to be perfect in any situation, and to lose was to disgrace his dad's dojo.
! It's thrown completely out the window and he becomes a complete jobber (he even becomes comatose for almost an entire arc)… the wall was pretty much a HUGE slap in the face for any reader who liked his character (which I'm pretty sure up until that point was everyone).
I'd say read the Vongola ring arc up into the future arc of KHR! The transition of his character is painful.
tl;dr Kiba was eventually redeemed… Yamamoto was shooting for Yamcha's (or Chaozu's) throne.
-
I just noticed how that dialogue between Madara and Obito makes no sense at all.
Like, if Madara suicide bombs, why can't Obito just switch dimensions? I doubt that shit would take longer than five minutes.
-

Hard for the author to get emotional or care when he blatantly sets up the resurrection beforehand in the same chapter.
This is even worse than when Pain did it, because at the time we didn't know that cop out was even available on the scale it was used. Bu this time? He's just gonna go down the exact same road Pain did.
He's practically delivering the same speeches and everything.
To this day I STILL think he had actually planned to have Choji and Neji die during that old arc, the sorytelling and symbolism and intent were too strong, and the saving revivial too cheap, unforeshadowed and last second. That he'd planned to kill them sand show off some stakes and gravitas, and then was told he couldn't let the 12 year olds bite it. Thats when the entire tone of the series changed and he stopped caring.
-
This has been on my mind for a while
During the Chuunin exam, Nejis fight with Naruto, wasnt his beef with Naruto that a regular person cant be Hokage, that he wasnt born into a family of any significanse? And Naruto proved him wrong by defeating him.
But, wasnt all of that rather pointless considering that Narutos father was the Hokage? Even if none knew. Naruto was still of a strong bloodline.
-
Couldnt neji's dad have died? Kishi is manga satan. Kiba was a jerk, but change after losing to naruto. Hlw about we remember naruto before shippuden ( yell took over). Back wyen Everyone ( minus 1010) had a character. Wheres Iruka?
-
Neji: "This is going on for a year and a half more? Aw, screw it, I'm getting out now."
-
But, wasnt all of that rather pointless considering that Narutos father was the Hokage? Even if none knew. Naruto was still of a strong bloodline.
Yeah, its a common complaint that Kishi completely undid his own strongest themes of "hard work overcomes" and "even the low can beat the high" once he made Naruto the destined child with the good genetics.
-
So is Jiraiya the only ninja of konoha who doesn't get his powers from a bloodline? Excluding Rock Lee. I kind of like how we never got to know who his parents or family were.
-
@RobbyBevard:
Yeah, its a common complaint that Kishi completely undid his own strongest themes of "hard work overcomes" and "even the low can beat the high" once he made Naruto the destined child with the good genetics.
Okay, good to have it clarified. But, you still need good genetics. Its not like these attacks are scientific and if you read a lot, you'll understand them. All the big three have main characters with powerful parents. You wont be able to do much with a low chakra and so on, although Kakashi has really been pushing it lately.
But genetics isnt my forte. If two parents are weak, can they have a child at Jiraiyas level? Luffy is strong because he comes from a monster of a family. Zoro, however, may just be a hard working person with a strong will.
-
Note: Naruto himself is certainly not the only character in the series who copies moves off their relatives, it seems to be a major theme. He just happens to appear to be the only one who uses the same combo over and over again. I think. Correct me if I am wrong.
-
@Money:
Couldnt neji's dad have died?
Shhh. Nobody tell him.
-
Can someone tell me when exactly did Hinata's father stop being an emotionally abusive douchebag
-
@Cyan:
Can someone tell me when exactly did Hinata's father stop being an emotionally abusive douchebag
Almost immediately after Neji's fight with Naruto.
Pretty much did a complete 180 considering the last time we saw him before the time skip he was spending time with both Neji and Hinata. -
@Cyan:
Can someone tell me when exactly did Hinata's father stop being an emotionally abusive douchebag
The same time Neji and Hinata reconciled and became loving cousins.
-
-
Spoilers: The person that died was actually Hinata's dad pretending to be Neji.
-
^ I would respect kishi then
-
@Money:

I would laugh my ass off.
-

This is brilliant. You can almost hear the "wah, wah, waaaah"
-
Spoilers: The person that died was actually Hinata's dad pretending to be Neji.
And so the entire Hyuga character arc ends full-circle.
-
What I find the dumbest thing about the death is why was Naruto needing to be protected like that? He can move still can he not? He is the strongest person in the entire world basically. Why can he not deflect or dodge a few splinters?
THEN what was Neji jumping in front of? Was he also jumping in front to save Naruto as well or was he jumping in front of Hinata to save her. If the later its even more bullshit. So there was time for Hinata to jump in front of Naruto to protect him, and allow Neji to see this, and then Neji come to the rescue and jump in front of her. Seems like Hinata had plenty of time to deflect these instead of being a human shield. And also what the point of having your back turned? Why not face away from Naruto so you can see the projectiles coming and deflect ones that you can deflect. I mean for all we know these ones that hit Neji or would have hit Hinata would have been super easy to deflect, yet no they decide to have their back turned and just become a human meat shield.
-
Hinscher you're arguing with a cliche shounen trope. Not Kishi.
It's pretty stupid to face the other direction to not defend yourself, it's also stupid to spread your arms so you can't deflect it.
This isn't the only series to do that and it unfortunately won't be the last.
-

The other issue is that even if Neji and Hinata had their backs turned…Their magic eyeballs would have let them see the incoming attack. There's only a sliver of a spot they can't see, and those spikes are so damn huge there's no way he couldn't see it. And he's got those palm strikes and spintastic move he likes so much...The trope strikes again.
Neji's death bugs me as much as Piccolo's did. Piccolo had plenty of time to get Gohan and himself out of the way...But at least I felt sad when Piccolo died.
-
So as for Naruto… Where are all of the 80 000 ninjas and samurais who fought in this war? We were told there were 100k Zetsus and about 80k of the good guys.
Sure as fuckin' hell it looks to me like there's about 300 people fighting with the DERPmonster Jinchuuriki... or whatever this fucker is called. -
