Gluttony. I overeat for no reason other than I like to eat when bored. After that, prolly lust or wrath.
Seven Deadly Sins

Hmmm this is interesting. Difficult. At first I immediately associated myself with the hedonistic sins Gluttony and Lust. But I don't really eat more than I need I just enjoy eating and cooking, don't think that's really gluttonous, and what 22 year old straight male isn't obsessing about the female figure?
Then I thought about sloth, but I'm not really lazier than the average person. Wrath is not in my character at all. Pride a bit yes, but I don't feel like it defines me at all. Greed, not really. I'd say vanity is more to the point in my case. -
Envy and pride most likely. I can't believe how jealous I can be sometimes. Also, I tend to see people around me on a lower level.
Is moustache a sin? -

:U Lust all the way baby. Yeah, you all should pity Zeph…
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
@bartholemew:
Why has no-one picked lust yet??
Because I hadn't entered the thread yet :P
-
Had to pick between Pride, Gluttony, Lust and Wrath. Since I'm still generous even with being a, to an extent, Glutton and since I've actually been very calm for the past several months, I decided to rule out Gluttony and Wrath. And since my Lust has actually kind of stagnated and Pride is the most predominant and detrimental force in my life right now, I decided to go with Pride.
By the way, Gluttony is participating in excess. It isn't necessarily tied to food, it's simply hoarding things without sharing.

Oh yeah I keep forgetting that, I guess I live by 'Sharing is caring' so Gluttony is a big no no.
-
Yeah, i wanted to make that point.
Gluttony does not necessarily mean over-consumption of food. It can also mean over-indulgence to the point of waste.
Also, Lust is intense desire. It can be lust for power, money, fame, women (men?), sex. It does not necessarily has to be lust for sex.
-
Also, Lust generally means intense desire. It can also be lust for power, money, fame etc, and does not specifically mean lust for sex or women.
Also keep forgetting this, I do lust for recognition so I'm satisfied that I chose lust in the end.
-
Sloth. So much sloth.
Sometimes, I'm so sloth that I don't want to have to deal with TALKING to people.
Or reading! I just don't feel like opening the book!
Yes, sloth is for me.I just got a distress call. There's an invasion at my home. I must soar. My planet needs me.
-

In this case, how does Lust differ from Greed?

You guys are a bunch of lazy bastards.
yawns

In the sense of the Seven Deadly Sins, its a sexual lust. Everything else you listed would fall under Greed.
-
Pride, selfishness and loving myself more than I love anyone else is a problem for me lmao. Even though, to be honest, it doesn't feel like one to me.
-
In this case, how does Lust differ from Greed?
A greedy or stingy person besides feeling an intense desire it has a deep attachment to material and vanal objects. Money, credit, power, fame and what not. Moreover Someone stingy (Greedy) wouldn´t like to share any bit of power, fame, money. However, I could see a lusty person thinking along the lines of the more the merrier. For instance in Sex, a greedy person wouldn´t share his or her partners , on the contrary a person with extreme lust would be wondering how many more partners would there be. The one that suffers from lust just can´t get enough from one but is not attached to what he-she has, on the contrary someone suffering from greed will want to covet even more while still being in possesion of whatever he-she has achieved until said points.
Both sins are equally dangerous, but the secret to tell them apart is ATTACHMENT.

There's a difference between being Greedy and Stingy. I'm a pretty greedy person, but I'm not stingy at all.
Most stingy people are greedy, but not all greedy people are stingy.

Alright, if this were the case, how is Lust different from Gluttony?

Alright, if this were the case, how is Lust different from Gluttony?
In my case, it's not, but many people segregate their sexual pleasure from mealtimes.

Well you can kinda tell who voted for what by just reading the post.

Gluttony in general has more to do with food and drink and the habits we have toward consumption in general. Notice that the gluttons feel the need to consume to no end, if you extend the word beyond food and drink it may be lavishly expending your money or consuming someones affection until you leave them dry, yep manipulation and possesion can be a form of gluttony from this point of view. The glutton knows not how to stop its need to consume. On the other hand someone with Lust feels an extreme passion or desire take for example an artists that wants to paint , actually he wants to paint a lot. His lust for painting has left him without friends, and he has left his family to dedicate his time only to his canvas. As the passion grows the vice gets ahold even stronger, however he´s not consuming anything. His vice, binge and urge is just so powerful that he lacks the attention, motivation and senses to understand that he´s heading to his doom . The principles of Gluttony and Lust are different even if their mechanisms may somewhat intertwine. However, as I said before people will relate gluttony with food and drink.

Anger , without a doubt
-
Lust. Easily. Sometimes I'm surprised I don't sizzle when I take a shower.
:U Lust all the way baby.
hell yeah! Lusty lady high-five!
Yeah, you all should pity Zeph…
And Gekko. pfft, they're lucky and they know it. ;)
-
Lust and Gluttony would probably be my sins if I had self-esteem.
-
If some sick fuck were to ever emulate John Doe from Se7en, the majority of this forum would get the absolute worst punishment.
Sucks to be y'all.
-
I cant vote, but well like most Sloth will be my biggest sin.
-
Well you can kinda tell who voted for what by just reading the post.
Im too lazy to do that lol
-
I'm pretty heavy on all of them, but I narrowed it down to envy, lust, and greed, with Lust winning out.
-
@Nex:
are you lazy when you have to do something you don't want to do? As there is a difference.
Whoops, guess I shouldn't had picked it then.
…...Then the correct answer would be.....envy, I guess?
-
I can tell you which one I'm least likely to commit :3
However, all of the other ones (except wrath) I commit on a regular basis.
-
Picked Sloth. Yes, I'm lazy when I need to do something important but don't want to do it. I've thrown away college and other life improving scenarios because I was too lazy (or scared, nervous, whatever I want to cover it up as) to do something about it.

My problem with this thread at the moment is the fact that I don't know when these sins really become SINS.
Let's see, sin is bad. It stands for doing something wrong.
Now. Is it wrong when I'm proud of a good mark? Is it wrong, when I eat a cheeseburger? Is it wrong, when I have sex with my bf or masturbate? Is it really bad when I envy someone for, let's say, having enough money to buy nice food? Is it wrong, when instead of doing something productive like sewing I surf on the web? Is it wrong when I save money? Is it wrong to be mad when someone insults me?
So, you see, basically you have to take all these sins to an extreme to make them an actual sin. But even then they aren't always bad.
Let's say I would love having sex. What would be wrong or be a SIN if I do it more than once a day with my bf? I see nothing wrong with that.
I think we'd need to define all the extremes of these sins, then look at ourselves and see if we really are comitting a sin.
And is it really committing a sin when you are happy with yourself?I'm just stating the obvious, am I not? :/
Well, I tried.

I think in this instance the question is which one has the most effect on your life…
Which one do you relate to the most? Or in other words which one controls your actions?
In my case the answer was easy.... Greed, i have known for very very long. My obsession with Money and Fame is evident. -
I think we'd need to define all the extremes of these sins, then look at ourselves and see if we really are comitting a sin.
And is it really committing a sin when you are happy with yourself?OPINION AHOY!
Let's go to the other extreme: Lets say I was a serial killer and I'm totally miserable with life. However, I become extremely happy when I go around hacking others to bits. Is it really a sin when I get the jollies from taking other's life? Totally. Which in this case, sin become "sin" when one impedes on other's lives (or your own) in a negative way.Another example: Lets say I get the kicks from cutting myself and watching the blood ooze out of my veins. I'm totally depressed otherwise, but the sensation of pain and blood makes me excited/happy. Is it still a sin? I'm not hurting anyone, but I am hurting myself. So in this case, yes it is a sin.
Another (more relevant) example: Lets say I really enjoy sex, but I cannot live without it (meaning it's all I think about constantly). I get distracted with work, my friends, etc…and focus a lot on simply having sex (or thinking about it). Instead of getting rest at night, I decide to pound it consistently with my bf/gf daily and get 3 hours of sleep which then impacts my performance at work/school/whatever. This performance then becomes a sin since it is starting to impede your livlihood. Once sex starts negatively impacting you/others (whether you are aware of it or not), it becomes a sin. Even if you believe yourself to be happy with all this sex, if you are indirectly making yourself (or others) unhappy or impeding upon their lives, it is a sin.
Sin is not always about how it makes one feel, but how it directly/indirectly impacts others and yourself.
This is a grave abstraction, but it is the best I have so far.

In my religion we don't call these sins but sicknesses of the heart. Pride, envy and greed are outright bad.
The other ones gluttony, lust, sloth and wrath are good if they're controlled and bad if these urges control you; cause they're like preservation and defense mechanisms of the body. The body needs the gluttony to go fetch food, it needs the anger to protect it from its enemies, it needs sloth to make it rest and it needs lust for its survival and for other things. -

Sloth. I'm lazy and a terrible procrastinator, and not just with things I have to do, but with things I want or like to do as well. I'm worse than Sloth from FMA (the manga/Brotherhood version; IIRC the one from the first anime was different).
Each and everyone of us is guilty of committing all the sins at some point in their life.
Unless you've actually met each and every person, it's unfair to claim that everyone has felt all of them. There are definitely people who haven't felt or done some of them. Personally I've never felt Envy, Greed, or Lust, and debatably Pride*.
*Depends on whether you'd consider self-confidence as pride or not.

I came in here expecting to be one of many to pick Lust.
Weird since I always imagined other members here to be waaaaay more sexual than I am. But I can understand why Sloth is popular.
