I agree that it was a great chapter, but I really wanted to see how a pure Haki fighter does things when he gets serious. Not to mention that Vergo looked like a certain someone from Yu Yu Hakusho there…

I was expecting awesomeness from the end of the previous chapter with Captain shulololo (Caesar) pissing himself at Luffy, it was a flashback to the celestial luffy punched. We got that in the new chapter, and on top of that the awesomeness that is Trafalgar Law. I was very satisfied with steakface getting owned after using his armament form and obviously Law's move that did it, but I was even more satisfied at the fact that a clearly bad guy got his just desserts after underestimating a hero. It is strange though in One Piece that there are so many villains who underestimate heroes, given that the individual natures of df's and the wildcard of haki for non df users make it difficult to guage what might happen in a battle. Maybe the villains are used to hanging around others who are established in their powers ergo don't need much growth.
I guess you could say Trafalgar is delivering.. the LAW!
i think vergo is the most muscular defined person we've seen so far….i'd never expect that THAT was under the jacket, dudes swole as hell.

Why must it always be about power levels. Aside from the goal he was focusing on isn't it just the nature of Smoker's DF that made him lose against a Haki Master compared to Law's?
Vergo will get back up he cn't go down like this.The best part of the chapter was Donflamingo's DenDen Mushi face. Law's speech was pretty cool too although I will like it more in CCC's translation.
It kind of suprises me that Oda would include Big Maam's face in the panels just like that when he went through the trouble of muting Law and Luffy's conversation earlier. Yes she is the most likely candidate for the Yonkou backing up CC & DD/the one they are going after at the moment but I cn't help think that maybe Oda is playing tricks & they will turn out to be different. Also the cover page was hilarious.

man this was such a great chapter. will law make a declaration to all those guys watching that he is going to take on big mom? wonder if maybe some of them would join in. my guess is that ceasar will end up destroying the island again as he tries to get back at luffy and doflamingos 2 henchmens role will be piecing vergo back together and escaping. law will likely take ceasar and will tell luffy about the next move.

So law sliced a mountain, and the mountain went approximately 50 meters up in the air.
In matter of seconds, that same mountain should fall on their heads.

After reading through 9 pages of comments, i can only say a few things,
1. Vergo wasn't defeated and is unharmed by that slash, his body was just dismembered. So the fight is still on
2. Looking forward to seeing SH's with law in thousand sunny escaping the island

Loads of really cool things this chapter, Loved it!
Starting off with Law. I love how this chapter seems to be a culmination of a number of things that he's set in motion throughout this whole Arc, it really helps to develop him as the cool and collecting character who carefully plans every move he makes. It's gonna be really interesting how he'll interact with Luffy in the coming storyline. His speech about how he's putting in place the birth of a New Era was brilliant (I can't wait to see it handled by a more able translator such as CCC) for me it was the definitive introduction for the next stage of the story that will see the Worst Generation upsetting the status quo and for that reason I loved it. Also on that final double page spread we saw BM, Kid, Apoo and Hawkins. This makes me think that the Yonkou in question is BM and that the other three supernova will be involved in some grand alliance with Law and Luffy.
On the topic of Vergo I still think we've got a lot more to come from him. My interpretation of that scene was that Vergo has an incredible mastery of CoA but that CoA is not necessarily the best counter to DF powers, especially Law's power. From how Doflamingo built up Vergo's strength it made me think that in the past Law's abilities with the 'Ope-Ope no mi' could not counter Vergo's incredible CoA abilities, but since Law's left the services of Dofla his abilities have developed as such that he can now get past Vergo's CoA. This confrontation was in my eyes a metaphor for the challenge that Law was making to Doflamingo, Vergo's supposed power over Law represents an outdated viewpoint that Doflamingo has, Doflamingo has become complacent because he's made assumptions about how the world works and has made preparations accordingly and this will ultimately be his undoing. Law on the other hand represents a younger generation that Doflamingo hasn't accounted for, it is this generation that will act in a way that Doflamingo hasn't prepared for and will as a result bring about his downfall. When Law sliced Vergo in half he was effectively saying to Doflamingo 'Your pre-conceived notion of how a situation will unfold is outdated and as a result you've become complacent', this action then fit hand in hand with Law's speech on the matter. And for that reason I really enjoyed that little skirmish.
Back to Vergo. Like I said I don't think that CoA is necessarily the best counter to Law, from the beginning it seems that Law has to be very measured with his attacks so I think that CoO would be the best way to deal with Law. Now that Vergo is aware that his CoA isn't for want of a better word 'Law-proof' he'd be better off dodging Law's attacks. Ultimately Vergo underestimated Law and payed the price for it, in no way do I see this as a sign that Vergo is now Law's bitch.
As for the rest of the chapter. I'm curious as to how Kinemon is aware about Momonosuke being a dragon, hopefully Oda can explain this soon. I loved the little gag about Zoro's sense of direction and for me the issue of the childrens rampage has been dealt with effectively, all I hope is that the situation with Mocha and Chopper will be given the time and attention it deserves in the coming chapters. So yeah…great chapter.

Smoker is a Marine that despises the corruption in his ranks, and follows his own sense of justice. He's a Marine that cares for his allies (namely Tashigi) and does his own thing.
So......when Law managed to get back in the action, I was a little disappointed and a little annoyed. The guy got whaled on before! Now he gets to beat Vergo?
It sucks on ol' Smoke. He had to work with two big name pirates today, and couldn't finish the job. Moving on, Law makes a speech to Doflamingo that he's going to lose Vergo, and his operations will fail because he's so cocky. And that the "worst era" (Luffy and the Supernovas) will rise up. Okay….I kinda enjoyed that.
But here's something that baffles me. Vergo shows his abs and coats his entire body black (meaning Haki), and Law just cuts him in half, no problem. Why? Dofla was saying his body was resistant to Law's cut because of said Haki.
Although now Doflamingo is not smiling/laughing. Shit just got serious.
Not a bad chapter, it was great overall, but the ending disappointed/confused me.

Overall: SOLID chapter as we near the end of this arc I assume. Not many loose ends left aside from Franky and the remaining Punk Hazard characters. Oda is damn good at this manga stuff ;)

Your problem is that you're treating everything on a fixed power ranking. Smoker and Law are about as strong as each other. He lost to Law but that doesn't mean Law is better than him, it only means he lost that ONE fight that time. Vergo is about as strong if not a little stronger than Smoker and Law. Law lost to Vergo because Vergo kept squeezing his heart. Smoker lost to Vergo because he wasn't fighting to win, he just wanted to distract him long enough so Law could get back his heart and he could pay back his debt to him. Now here's the key, Vergo and Doflamingo didn't think of anything of Law. They thought he was the same snot-nosed brat he was when he was with their crew. So instead of being cautious, Vergo decided to go all out donning his haki armour and doing a reckless charge against Law thinking there wasn't anything he could do. He thought the same as you, that Law couldn't do anything against his armor, he underestimated Law, has been underestimating him from the start and it cost him dearly. And it all ties back to Law's speech at the end. The time of the old pirates are at an end, these rookies whom you and all the other powerful big names have been laughing at are now a serious force to be reckoned with.

Smoker actually used his Df ability as a smokescreen so he could get Law's heart back without Vergo noticing. Best thing to happen in this manga in a LONG time. Guy who's smoke using a smoke screen. SMOKE SCREEN. This is the type of logical shit I wish we saw more in manga.
Also to weigh in on Law vs. Vergo. I commented back when it happened that Vergo's attack on Law was particularly fast and brutal, leaving literally almost NO time for Law to counter. Now, with Vergo deciding to take Law head on in a more traditional fashion, and likely a bit slower due to fighting smoker, Law had the time to show off his true strength. So I don't see it as Law suddenly being stronger but that Vergo is slower now and with him not using his speed this time around Law was on even footing and he won fair and square.
Really this chapter is about Law telling Vergo and Doflamingo you underestimated me and Vergo pay the price for it .
Doflamingo sitting on his ass thinking Law was still a punk but things change and now the new generation are about the come for the old one .
It's about time some one get that smile off Doflamingo face and his former crew mate that he think is weak doing makes it all they better .

Technically that's true but I think the point of Laws speech is that Vergi and Donflamingo are assuming Law hasn't become stronger in 2 years and he obviously has. When Don said Vergo was stronger than Law and that his powers can't effect vergo he was straight up wrong. Law has become strong enough to bypass/break through Vergo's COA and without it he has no way to avoid Law's "Room". As I mentioned before the only reason Vergo knocked Law out so easily before is because he caught Law off guard with his more impressive speed(Which was law's fault, not calling vergo a cheater), having that speed reduced from fighting smoker, and not attempting the same blitz tactics from before led to his downfall. Tired the way he is and with his body sepearted he's at a huge disadvantage. He might as well be finished. Not to mention his morale/spirit/ambition will be in the gutter after a crushing blow like that.

Law stole the entire PH arc. Beats Smoker, makes an alliance with SH to challenge a Yonkou, and when you think he's done for, we get this chapter. Hardly any character can be as broken as Law.
Smoker "losing" was more or less an excuse to not show everything he can do. After all, he's a rival to Luffy, so if one day he actually goes all out, it's gonna be against him. A full-blown Smoker battle right now would tarnish a final duel with Luffy.
The more I think about it, the more I realize that Smoker is even worse than Zoro when it comes to handicaps in fights, hopefully Oda will manage to keep this without getting too repetitive.

Well Zoro was picking up houses easily in Alabasta, cutting through huge ass buildings in enies lobby and going toe to toe with oars on thriller bark. After 2 years of intense training with mihawk i could believe Zoro could cut a mountain.
Remember that Laws sword doesn't have to physically touch you once you are inside the room for him to cut you. If he made his room as big as the mountain theoretically all he would need to do is lazily swing his sword and he could sever the mountain in two pieces, which is what i believe he did here.
