To be fair, Cabin is the better of the two films anyway. Though just barely.
Marvel Movies Thread - Holy Shitballs

My friend is going to freak out when I tell him that he's an ardent opponent of such things.
And since he loved the movie so much just bought the blueray last week from a store in town. -
So did anyone else see the alternate opening and ending? The alternate opening was quite interesting, it would've changed the whole mood of the film. It even strongly hints at someone dying (Not Coulson).
@The:
Hmmmmmmm wonder why they would do that
http://www.bleedingcool.com/2012/09/17/have-marvel-retconned-the-avengers-on-dvd-or-just-censored-it/Funny thing is, it was edited out of my version, and I have the U.S. one. Don't know why the blade was edited out, unless i have some funky hidden parental setting.
-
I'm glad they didn't go with the whole Maria Hill turning on Fury angle that the alts and a few of the deleted scenes portrayed.
Though I do prefer the alt introduction for Cap.
-
Oh god, that gag reel was amazing.
-
Haha I could watch Thor fumble with Mjolnr all day.
I've also replayed the Hulk vs. Loki scene so many times. It's just so… entertaining.
-
I kinda hope the couple in "Item 47" are either main characters or supporting characters in the SHIELD show, I kinda found them entertaining, them and Agent Sitwell.

http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/10/20/scott-pilgrim-game-of-thrones-and-lost-actors-up-for-cap-2
Actors Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Scott Pilgrim), Josh Holloway (Lost), Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Game of Thrones), and Kevin Durand (Resident Evil: Retribution, also Lost) are going to be in Captain America 2
-
Not going to be in, just they are beign eyed. Also, I think this thread deserves a rename if we're turning into a general Marvel Cinematic Universe thread.
-
I got excited. I thought it said "Mary Elizabeth McGlynn". I would have lost my shit.
-

There should just be a general superhero movie discussion thread.

First footage of Ironman 3
-
And it's already better than X-Men 3.
-
;_; Pepper!
@Corson:
And it's already better than X-Men 3.
That's not much of an accomplishment.
-
I have a feeling this will be the best in the trilogy.
-
I don't care about anything relating to Iron Man or marvel films in general however I love Shane Black as a director ever since seeing Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, and coupled with the fact this is his second collaboration with Downey Jr and according to Black will be more like a "spy thriller", it's garnered my interest. I love the direction he's supposedly taking, this along with Man of Steel is one of my most anticipated films of 2013.
Teaser looks great, really excited.
-
Teaser for a trailer. In other words, an advertisement for an advertisement. Surely I'm not the only one who finds this concept a bit silly?
Anyway, said teaser for a trailer doesn't really give me much of an idea as to how the movie will be like… About the only thing I can pull from it is that Tony will presumably have to save Pepper at some point... and that I don't particularly like the new suit. -
There was an interview with Mark Millar (current Fox creative consultant) who said there will be sentinels in DoFP and that they're trying not to contradict any of the Marvel movies just in case that ever happens.
-
^^ I just hope that they ditch Banshee/Havok, and bring in the real players, Cyclops/Jean/Storm/Iceman
-
Ugh Cyclops… So horrible... I'd prefer if they kept Havok in his place, though replacing Banshee is fine.
-
^^ I just hope that they ditch Banshee/Havok, and bring in the real players, Cyclops/Jean/Storm/Iceman
Iceman is awful in every single iteration of the character ever.
-
^^ I just hope that they ditch Banshee/Havok, and bring in the real players, Cyclops/Jean/Storm/Iceman
Banshee and Havok are both better than Cyclops, Jean and Iceman. (Well, some versions of Banshee. Around the time of Generation-X.)
They are not better than Storm however.
Unless its movie Storm.

It all seems to be turning rather ugly lately. Between Paul Bettany saying he doesn't really care for the Iron Man films and feels like a thief for his role, and Hugo Weaving saying he wouldn't want to play Red Skull again unless Marvel forced him, and Natalie Portman apparently being forced to do Thor 2, and Wally Pfister ranting at Joss Whedon who was just like "oh, well that's sad, I'm a big fan"
ugh. But then again Hugo Weaving dissed Transformers too. Kind of unprofessional.

I'm also liking that Captain America armor suit

ugh. But then again Hugo Weaving dissed Transformers too. Kind of unprofessional.
Anyone dissing Transformer films specially second and third instantly makes me appreciate him so much more.
-
Between Paul Bettany saying he doesn't really care for the Iron Man films and feels like a thief for his role,
The voice of the robot butler…? seems like an easy gig to me.
and Hugo Weaving saying he wouldn't want to play Red Skull again unless Marvel forced him,
Well, that's probably not a fun makeup job/prosthetic to have to deal with. John Ryhes Davies won't ever play a dwarf again, but it doesn't mean he didn't like Lord of the Rings.
and Natalie Portman apparently being forced to do Thor 2,
Well, when you sign a multi-film franchise contract that kind of goes with the territory… Is that why she had only a cameo in Avengers?
She was also in all three Star Wars prequels. Not everything can be Black Swan.
and Wally Pfister ranting at Joss Whedon who was just like "oh, well that's sad, I'm a big fan"
The… photography director for Chris Nolan? Who doesn't have anything to do with the marvel films at all? Well, that is a shame. Whatever that's about.
Avengers had easier to follow action sequences than any of the batman films, so if Pfister is at all responsible for those...?
-
Why sign a multi-film deal if you're gonna bitch about it afterwards? Seriously actors these days…
-

"Wah, I don't like being in a billion dollar franchise!"
To be fair, the guy who played Edward in the Twilight movies had no idea what he was getting into crazy fan wise when he signed his contract… but he's pretty verbally on record about hating the books and the films.

Let's ben honest, the only good MALE X-Men are Nightcrawler, Banshee and Cannonballz.

Ironman 3 trailer.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
! Based on what I've seen, I'm to assume this is based off of the issue where Tony's armor gains sentience and grows madly jealous of Stark's love of someone else until he resorts to kidnapping him.

Also, it appears that the Mandarin has a Captain America tattoo on his neck? :wassat: -
That trailer looked epic
-
! Kingsley pulls the Mandarin off really well
! Also wonder what the context behind using Norman Osborne's Iron Man armor is -
NICE.
Looks like Cap had an influence on Tony in Avengers. He got a taste of what "old fashioned heroism" looks like.
I bet Ben Kingsley is having a blast. I heard that he's always wanted to play more villain parts, because he seems to almost always be cast as a good guy.

Well he was cast as freakin' Gandhi lol
-
Guy Pearce sounds promising. Kingsley will make a good antagonist i am telling you.
@Thousand:

Its Gandhi, and not Ghandi. It had to be corrected since i am seeing this for the 5th time.
-
Inexcusable flub. Fixed it now.
-
The trailer gives me goosebumps. Awesome!
I thought i wouldn't get hyped after the first trailer again … i was wrong. It looks promising.
And it won't be THAT hard to make it better than the second one which i still liked. -
Awesome trailer. I like the dark feel of it. Hopeful it does what a last of a trilogy is supposed to do. Bring it full circle.
I wonder if Nick Furry will be here though (besides a post-credit scene which is might or might not involve him).
-
I liked Iron Man 1 & 2 a lot, but I can't say I enjoyed them more than the others.
This one, though, looks AMAZING.
The suit has a mind of it's own!
Sorta? -

Though it probably, it's not confirmed to be the final film in the trilogy.

Isn't Downey signed up through at least Avengers 2? Everyone else is. checks Huh, apparently not.
Hell, Sam Jackson is signed up for like 9 movies total.
Though I know they've been talking about James Bonding the role, and recasting hasn't mattered quite so much on Bruce Banner or Rhodey… Downey IS Tony, and it'd be tough to replace him in the movie universe and make it work smoothly, particularly since apparently its a lot of his own ad-libbing that makes the character work. He's had a LOT of screen time to be Tony Stark.
I'm not saying he should play the role till he's going grey and Tony has visibly aged like Connery did on Bond, but... replacing would be weird at this point. Just how long can the marvel movies run as an ongoing continuity anyway?

"That’s a weird job for me because it honestly was a two-hour voice job, initially. I was doing a play and I actually didn’t have time, anyway. It was one of the only things I’ve ever done where I had no knowledge of it, I didn’t care about it, I didn’t think about it. They wanted me to do it. In one way, I regret that bit. I don’t regret doing it, but I very rarely do something if it’s meaningless. It was meaningless to me, honestly. I don’t mean that in any nasty way. I did it. It was a two-hour voice job, while I was doing other things. Of course, it’s a massive film that’s made masses of money. I just happened to be the voice of one of the iconic villainous characters. But, my link to that and to Michael Bay is so minimal. I have never met him. I was never on set. I’ve seen his face on Skype. I know nothing about him, really. I just went in and did it. I never read the script. I just have my lines, and I don’t know what they mean. That sounds absolutely pathetic! I’ve never done anything like that, in my life. It’s hard to say any more about it than that, really." - Hugo Weaving
yeah that really sounds unprofessional, god i wish he would just shut up and stop being so concieted. …
the moment you start not hating michael bay you should have started asking questions.
-
Yeah. Out of all the characters, Tony would be the hardest to recast simply because he brought so much of his own act in Tony. That's not saying the other characters aren't good, but they feel much more like people playing characters rather than inputting a lot of their own persona like Downey has. I don't have a source, but I believe he's said he's enjoyed playing the character. I figure he would probably want to make it to Avengers 2 at least, but I don't know how far he would want to go as far as playing the character goes.
-
@LUFFY#1:
Though it probably, it's not confirmed to be the final film in the trilogy.
Yeah, I know, but still …. I don't want a fourth one to be just another, "Hey, here's another villain," like they were going to do with Spiderman 4 (though Spidey 3 ended rather loosely to begin with). There should be a strong story arc. Obviously he's going to be in The Avengers 2, but the cast is big there so he doesn't require a big struggle. And Captain and Thor are still on their second films.
I'm still interested if they'll be going the trilogy route with The Avengers. Ant Man will be released after the second one, so they must be planning something unless it's just a singular character without any other intentions.

Downey is way too laid out in this Marvel sandwich. I want a third Sherlock Holmes film, and I just generally want him to have time to do other movies.
-
I thought Downey really enjoyed playing Tony. Kinda like how Johnny Depp enjoys playing Jack Sparrow.
I understand an actor getting tired, but it's not like these are throw-away roles.
-
I would rather Marvel kill the character off then re-cast. You cannot replace RDJ…HE IS TONY STARK!
-

I can only dream of Paul Bettany being cast as human Jarvis. I know there's virtually no way to work that in to the movies and have it make sense, but it's just too bad that Paul and RDJ don't get to actually act with each other. I also heard that Gwyneth Paltrow is hesitant about returning as Pepper Potts for Avengers 2 which makes me even more sad. Hopefully Robert can convince her.
@baby-boo:I want a third Sherlock Holmes film, and I just generally want him to have time to do other movies.
same here. and on a slight tangent, any excuse to bring back Jared Harris and Paul Anderson as Moriarty and Sebastian Moran.

That Iron Man 3 trailer looked fanfucktastic!!
Finally a Iron Man movie that looks interesting, never bothered seeing the previous films since the impression gave( judging from the trailers) they always looked like generic fun popcorn flicks without any substance or emotional pull.
Also they didn't have an interesting enough villain to draw me in, but from the looks of this film it seems to be rectifying that and even more. I don't read Iron man or much Superhero comics in general but from what I understand this Mandarin guy is essentially to Iron Man as the Joker is to Batman, right? Without a doubt this film is looking to be one of the best superhero movies ever made(maybe even one the best action films ever made)
I love how serious Black is taking this film, the trailer gives a pretty gloomy impression in stark contrast to the trailers for the previous two which were very much fun, lighthearted, popcorn fun"
Shane Black, I hope you shall not disappoint me like Nolan did with Dark Knight Rises. This film better live up to my expectations, no fuck that, this film better exceed my expectations.
-
I could've sworn I read somewhere Robert Downey Jr loved playing Tony Stark and wanted to continue playing for years and years.
