They really nailed that transfusion scene. Otherwise, nothing too remarkable other than the long-awaited happy conclusion to the arc.

Damn that blood transfusion scene was sheer beauty. Couldn't care less about the rest but that scene… good job I must say.

They did very well on the direction part of the second halve.
Well done, gentleman, well done. It gave me tears in my eyes, music and images where perfect. The message it gave was well received. Yeah, I liked it.
I am very curious how Punk Hazard will be brought out in the anime. But first.. we have something else epic coming up :D -
Excellent episode despite the average animation. The transfusion scene was really good because it is pretty much the culmination of different arcs and plot development (Arlong arc, shabondy arc and the FI arc). Moreover, the music choice was really good (sign of friendship was fitting).

@Miss:
ALSO I WONDER IF JUNBEE WILL JOIN TEH NAKAMA SAY YES JINB SAY YES!!

They didn't screw up this episode. For once, thank you Toei. I'm an happy bunny.

Looks more like an impersonator!

Whoever was the director of this specific episode should be promoted to series director because, to me, this is how One Piece should be done.

Great episode, the music in the transfusion scene was amazing!

It's a shame I already know Jimbei says no.
I wish he said yes.… or does he?
I'm not sure, I just know he doesn't join the crew for whatever reason. -

But this does bring up an important point:
! Jimbei's answer is that there are other matters to attend to. Some people have interpreted that as having the same implications as Vivi's "nakama" status but I feel given his involvement in this arc, Marineford, and the build up to this moment there's a better chance that once his stuff is resolved he will be a member.
Keep in mind that Oda has been playing around with the "nakama" formula since Chopper and it keeps new readers from easily figuring it out and looking for hints. Also tying it in to Luffy magic number of ten stated way at the beginning I'm willing to bet that he's taking more time for the "final two" and focusing on longer standing plot threads. If Jimbei is indeed "The Ninth", I get the feeling "The Tenth" we may not get to until towards the end of the manga. It just seems like the final member would have a lot of plot threads associated with them and it will be a epic DON! moment like how we had with Bink's Sake and Brook.

Or maybe Vivi and Jinbe already make up the honorary ninth and tenth and will fully join the crew towards the end. Hm? For some reason, it's very hard for me to accept any new character(s) they may pick up after that timeskip and separation, so it would have to be people introduced before the skip. To me, grabbing a random new person when they're in the final stretch just seems cheap and heartless.
But this is one of those topics where everyone has a completely different take on it and it can go on indefinitely. This is also not the thread to go into said topic (pretty sure there already is one).. So with that, I gently pull out.
-
I love the last scene. After one-two episodes very cheap, Toei animation are doing a very good joob for me ^^
-
Really touching scene that was handled really well. Good stuff.
-
I'm aware that there is a nakama debate in the manga thread. My comments were merely correcting HAM-STAR's assumptions, and beside that I think it's perfectly okay to talk about it now because it directly relates to the episode that aired.
-
I hope the filler includes seeing things like the baratie after the 2 year skip ect. (there familys seeing that the straw hats are back)
Although I always wondered…when sharing blood with humans is so illegal, why was there someone who did just that and was killed by the New Fishman Pirates afterwards in Hody's little flashback?
I looked at it being like, the rule was always in place. But after fisher tigers death hody an his gang decided to enforce the rule. So for most part of the fishmen's life they have grown up with this rule as one to abide by/ fear. Or people will come to your house.

This. Episode. Was. Pure. One. Piece! (especially 2nd half)
The only real plothole here was the fishfolk denying bloodshare with Luffy although he effing saved their island. And Neptune should have said:" It's K, give him blood already! I as the king say its not forbidden anymore for fishfolk to spend blood to humans, because this old law is stoopid! (Not Trafalgar btw).
2nd half showed what this arc and all past arcs with fishmen is all about: all people are equal, cause they share the same blood. Very touching, all these moments.Afterwards I have to say the whole bloodspend scene looks like an AMV, but like a good one!

Not really a plot hole.

I do only watch the anime. But you're right. I shouldn't propogate the spoilers I bump into.

Very good directing in this episode. I enjoyed it quite a bit. Episodes like this don't really need solid animation, so rather the directing tends to make or break them. Solid art is always a must, and it was passable.
The bit with the tears of blood sort of grossed me out, though. That seemed a little unnecessary.
-
Didn't really like the end all that much, it was unnecessary, a good piece of fiction doesn't need explanations but it makes sense for little kids watching that they'd do this.

I take it you didn't read the manga.
That scene being absent would take away the point of the whole blood loss plot.

!
Foregoing all explanations does not lend itself to good fiction usually.
-
Aww, but that was such a good troll moment for Kubo!
Finally got around to it, thought it was a pretty good episode.

I didn't read the manga. But I assume they didn't have the narrator talk about how everyone bleeds equal, etc?
