@Badass:
It feels kinda weird if Luffy and Sanji are really the only Straw Hats of the arc to fight. But it doesn't seem like there are any other enemies other than CC, Vergo, and Monet.

I think the best fit in this particular situation is Sanji and none other. Why would Nami, Ussop or brook jump off the All mighty Brownbeardbus to help Tashigi? for them she
s just another marine, plus brook is hungry. Tashigi won
t give no food to Brook. Besides, Robin took her out in Allabasta so she wouldnt step in for her, Kinemon is too busy thinking about Momonosuke, and even if Zoro might feel unconfortable and may hesitate due to her similarities with kuina (Though it seems he
s moved forward and got over it) he wouldnt simply go and protect her. Smoker would, but he was busy racing with Luffy and he
s now in CCs room so no. Making Sanji step in, just blends in well with the situation and character. PLus, I honestly think he might have good chances against Vergo. Just take a look at Zoro
s reaction " Just let him be". Zoro wasnt worried in the last bit about him facing that "extrange presence" so all in all I don
t think Sanji will be outmatched; if anything shinokuni will be leak inside because of XYZ and the fight will end in a stalemate with everyone running from the gas…. " Running, how annoying"
Hm…..I guess you're right. I just wanted some diversity.
But I'm torn on the Sanji vs. Vergo situation. On one hand, Oda could redeem him and make into the serious chef we all remember fondly. On the other hand, I think Smoker beating him is more fitting. Decisions, decisions.
Huh, really? Well I like said….Oda has to convey Vergo as a threat, so it's good that he's so tough. Still miffed about Tashigi, but I suppose she'll get stronger because of it.
And I think we'll discover the mystery behind Momonosuke being absent very soon…..
That's fine to be miffed as long as you don't go on rants sounding like you didn't quite understand what had happened and what it could have meant.
Where did I say she was selfish?
And I still feel it wasn't that necessary on Oda's part to do this right after Smoker trusted Tashigi with the crew and all.
You didn't, I was just saying that people seemed to think that she was only yelling out for help for herself, which I said would be selfish. But she hadn't. :3
I can see your point but the wrench in Smoker's plans was that Vergo found them first. She would have succeeded if that hadn't have happened.
Zoro and Sanji will defeat Vergo
Or Sanji and Franky
http://www.mangareader.net/one-piece/680/16
who's notice how virgo mouth look like in the top left panel :blink:
I loled when i saw it
I don't know why people think Sanji is going to beat Vergo. I think it's obvious he's going to lose. He'll put up a good fight no doubt, but do you really think Sanji is going to beat the guy who beat Law pretty easily and is Smoker's boss? Maybe if someone else helps him out, definitely not by himself.
Uhhh… he had his heart, how couldn't him beat Law? It wasn't even a fight. Being a superior doesn't mean he's stronger, either.
Hugely disappointed with this chapter. Tashigi loses quickly, I can handle that. Then Sanji to the rescue! I can handle that to. But it looks like Sanji will actually defeat Vergo (I really hope not) and not Smoker :(
Other than that, the chapter was amazing, but nothing can really make up for no Smoker v Vergo :/
Also, the 'smaller ones'? (dragons) So there are more? If so, perhaps some fighting dragons soon?
Oh, and Kichiku means demon, right? I mean, I know they trasnlate badly and all, but not bothering to translate half the chapter title is annoying
Who says Smoker won't fight Vergo? It's the most probable case. Looks like you don't remember how matchups changed back on FI
Zoro and Sanji will defeat Vergo
Sanji will pwn Vergo and then will go to help Tashigi to her feet, only for Vergo to use his ability and pwn Sanji whilst he's off guard, leaving Sanji and Tashigi to try and get out of there before they get locked in there, then Law will come along and move those two out and fight Vergo . o .~!
Actually Tashigi needs to be stomped by Vergo, so that Sanji can go for the rescue. Very unfortunate for her, but what can Oda do?
Anyone notice the strange absence of Franky?
He is doing something to the Sunny.
My guess is that he is updating it so that they can take the children.
Poor Tashigi, she might lose all her men and something bad might happen to Smoker which could be the last nail on the coffin and be a mental breakdown. Seeing all the pain she is going through (defeated numerous times, being unable to save her men), I really would like her to be the emporary new nakama, she needs a happy and strong ride with them. I know its really cool for Sanji to shine after all the nosebleeds, the travesty and the embarrasing stuff but it kinda came out of nowhere. I would have preferred Zoro coming to the rescue especially after the speech that he gave to Luffy about the NW.
@Boxer:

Nono, I see Tashigi being defeated wasn't completely unfair to her. Vergo's obviously made of stronger stuff (and a higher rank), and he had to be built-up as a threat.
Zoro and Sanji will defeat Vergo
Zoro said "Let him be" when Sanji raced over to Tashigi. He has confidence in his fellow crewmate, so why would he jump in? Besides, Vergo's not a swordsman, Zoro really doesn't fight non-swordsman.

Because of the gas, Sanji and Vergo will advance and meet up with Zoro.
Then for some reason, because of Vergo DF, Zoro will have to help.
(Plus, i see the interaction between Sanji, Tashigi and Zoro.)
Zoro fought the pacifistas with Sanji, he cant always take on swordsmen.
That or Franky will appear sometime and help Sanji because of the gas.
Smoker wont fight Vergo, maybe he will team with Luffy to take down Ceaser.
Smoker wont fight Vergo, maybe he will team with Luffy to take down Ceaser.
It would be nice to see 2 different factions leaving their differences aside to take down a common enemy.
The dragon's eyes looks like Caesars~ Scary!
About Tashigi, give the poor girl a break. She just watched some of the men under her command die to save her, then some of her remaining men got scorched by a dragon which isn't supposed to exist, then a man who she has come to respect and possibly thought of as a friend and benefactor has turned traitor (yes, she knew before-hand but knowing something and seeing it confirmed for yourself are two different things) and starts to slaughter the precious few men she has remaining. I'd say she'd be in a bit of shock but she still leapt forward to protect her men… only to receive a vicious backhand punch and knock to the head. She did try to get up, but was unable to. So now she's in shock, dazed, probably has a concussion and wrestling with herself ("I should have been able to stop this", "Why couldn't I stop this?", "I'm not good enough.") Never mind the fact that she already was beaten around a bit today - physically and emotionally - by Law (the confidence-breaker) and caught by a crazy man, subjected to the humiliation of everyone seeing more of her body than she'd want to show them and I can see why she isn't at her best. Chances are, she's not used to being treated quite so roughly - I get the impression that while Smoker would never coddle her, she's never really in danger of losing her life as long as he's there. Let's just chalk it up to her having a really bad day.
Me, I'm hoping she pulls herself together a bit and helps Sanji defeat Vergo. It'd help her career and confidence, make up for some of the sacrifices her men have made and put her back on the track to being a stronger female character. One thing people forget - as much as there are weak girl stereotypes in manga... well, there are girls out there who can be strong, but weak at the same time. It's not like a weaker character can't get stronger or be a good role model. Just look at Usopp... it took him a while to build up to being as good as he is. I think Tashigi is on the cusp of realizing herself and making tracks to becoming a stronger character - if not physically, then definitely emotionally.
Nope. The Strawhats clearly aren't the only people who trained and grew stronger.
That's not exactly what I'm saying. Obviously Law and Smoker grew stronger, but they didn't devote a whole two years to doing nothing but that. Simply put, I'm asserting that because they focused on doing nothing but that, their level of strength should be higher compared to someone who had other responsibilities and things they were doing. If it isn't, then it makes those two years practically meaningless in terms of actual effects.
Because of the gas, Sanji and Vergo will advance and meet up with Zoro.
But Zoro isn't alone or anything: Nami, Brook, and Usopp are with him.
Then for some reason, because of Vergo DF, Zoro will have to help.
Vergo might have a DF, but I think Sanji would be too prideful to let Zoro help, even if I like the idea of Sanji, Zoro, and Tashigi interacting.
Zoro fought the pacifistas with Sanji, he cant always take on swordsmen.
Fine, but he tends to stick to fighting swordsmen.
Nice chapter, Sanji-Vergo matched up was a nice little twist there.
Anyway, Sanji had a hard time with some sticky opponents before (Kuromarimo, Wanze), so the Velcro DF theory would be perfectly applicable here.
there's a room full of prisoners
Yeah, but "prisoners" wouldn't seem like fitting opponents to the Straw Hats. They've had no build up, they'd just appear. And wouldn't there anger be more directed towards CC and not the Straw Hats?
Luffy and Smoker will have an epic battle in Punk Hazard, like Aokiji and Akainu,
turning one side of the island smoke and the other one in rubber.
(joking)
@DEE:
I see a lot of people pissed off because of the SANJI ENTRANCE and fight vs Vergo…
Let me tell you guys, Sanji is a main character, he's Luffy's 3rd Strong nakama, and his bounty is still very inferior.
Remember, if he made it thru that Gay island, it means he has beaten the hell out of Okamas, and they're very strong, he trained with Ivankov too for 2 years. seeing him beating Vergo is LEGIT.
I personaly prefer SANJI than Smoker, who's got a less important personality than Sanji, that we see every chapter. Smoker, maybe I want to see him fight 2 or 3 times and thats okay, Cuz we have to see him at the end of the manga for a major role.
Now, I kindly request you guys to keep it cool, and don't complain about Sanji vs Vergo fight. Sanji still got a very low bounty, Its a shame, since Killer got 200,000,000 and all the other supernovas got HIGH bounties. Sanji needs a RISE-UP. and I want to see him DESTROY VERGO.
Please Oda, make sanji DESTROY vergo. Because he's just TOO COOL FOR IT.
I wish Oda hears you. Come on, he's close to Luffy's level and he's going to be one of the strongest members of the Pirate King's crew. I want to see Sanji defeating him really badly. If he doesn't, at least don't make him lose. Instead, interrupt the battle for the gas. I'm sure that if that happens, Vergo will go search Caesar, and then he will encounter Smoker.
I see where you are coming from. If Smoker defeats Vergo it will give us readers that "sweet" sensation of "IN YERRR FACEEE, EAT THAT YOU SCUMBAG" . However, The Punisher doesn`t have to be the punishee. From my viewpoint if someone from the SH beats and presents Vergo to Smoker, it will be a big punch to Smokers and Tashigis marine ego/pride (once again) which in turn will "as in Allabasta" reinforce their will to catch up with the strawhats. Its a cats-mice race.
Assuming match-ups before they happen has a big drawback. If the match-ups don`t happen as people expected readers might feel some degree of frustration.

Good point. I can only see them getting more determined to catch the crew when this arc is over and done.
@Boxer:
I can see your point but the wrench in Smoker's plans was that Vergo found them first. She would have succeeded if that hadn't have happened.
Yeah, but as far as stories go, it was inevitable, I mean that the crew got into an unexpected situation.
I'll wait for the arc to end to make my final "judgement", but as of now, I can only hope it'll work out for Tashigi.
I don't know know why people are surprised Tashigi lost as badly as she did. She's only a captain facing a Vice Admiral. Of course she was going to get owned.
But Zoro isn't alone or anything: Nami, Brook, and Usopp are with him.
Vergo might have a DF, but I think Sanji would be too prideful to let Zoro help, even if I like the idea of Sanji, Zoro, and Tashigi interacting.

Yeah but they will have other things to do.
But with Zoro speech about being serious in New World, they have to put their differences apart
for the sake of the crew.
But yeah, you are probaly right, but that is just what id like to see happening.
If Smoker and Vergo do fight, it'd be awesome if a misterious someone dealt the last blow on Ceaser
and said: "Rear Admiral Coby, from the Headquarters, you are under arrest by the force…"
I think after the timeskip he is at least a commander.
If the guy doubled his height and 20x his power in two months what the hell can he do in 2 years (by this logic, i'd say admiral)
(maybe a mera mera no mi, Fire Fist no Coby)
epic chapter grait bild up awsome action vergo vs sanji will be intrupted by the gaz luffy vs cc will be chort and cool epic chapter

MANGASTREAM VERSION is OUT
Great chapter. Now obviously the main possibilities are Sanji owns Vergo. Vergo comes up with a weird DF and stuns Sanji for a while. Or the gas interrupts them. However…OP rarely goes for the obvious. I think that in the next chapter we might see what Nico Robin has up her sleeve. I think she cooked up some plan
MS version:
http://mangastream.com/read/one_piece/82521962/1 Ok, now where will you go Jinbe? But you looks so cool!
Epic Chapter..
I was thinking while reading the chapter, where was Vergo when the Marines fought Whitebeard pirates two years ago? With his "Ill sister"?
I was thinking while reading the chapter, where was Vergo when the Marines fought Whitebeard pirates two years ago? With his "Ill sister"?
In G5 or every marine was called? It would be the risky not leave anyone strong in the new world, there other yonko and big shots
VAs have different levels in the marine lol. And there are a lot of VAs (look at Garp). I think now is the time to show that Sanji can own an VA. And i think that Sanji will fight in the future Marco and Kizaru. I don't know why….
Mangastream's translation makes the conversation between Luffy and Smoker even funnier.
@Devil:
Who says Smoker won't fight Vergo? It's the most probable case. Looks like you don't remember how matchups changed back on FI
As I already said … looks unlikely, unless Caesar sends Smoker flying (and Sanji gets beaten). In Fishman Island, it was like an all out brawl with everyone in the Plaza.
@Boxer:
Well I think it's obvious that the backhand to her jaw left it broken as she was not able to talk afterward, however she is conscious so there's something. This has nothing to do with shonen, she will kick ass in due time, i'm sure of it. But that time is not now, obviously. If you think that it's a helplessly feeble cry for help then i suggest you get off of the "girl power" juice", sit back, relax and look at the big picture in this manga. Also it's ridiculous to think that Oda used her, or any female, to show the strength of men and the weakness of women in that situation.. She was merely the strongest of the marines in that group so she got the beat down. Plus, she was the only one in that group who new what Vergo was up to, so she was a priority target, hence why she got the beatdown extra hard instead of a simple shigan.
Again, we have a different reading on the panels. So I wouldn't say, I'm on the "girl power" juice. But there is a disproportion of strong women characters vs strong male characters. And when you tact on the fact that one of them, Tashigi, is getting pwned in all her "minor" fights so far, it is discouraging.
If it was an actual fight, she should've predicted with her haki (if she has ob.) or at least used haki to defend. But this was only a device used to get sanji into the battle.
Mind you, this is a minor complaint for me. I enjoyed this chapter a lot though it gets tiringafter 700 chapters.
Chapter was decent I guess. Felt like the first 10-15 pages were dragged out, which made them seem even more sour considering how much buildup there's already been in this arc. Ending sort of saved it, what with all the different reveals of what each group is up to, but still an unsatisfying chapter.
Is it me or Kinemon really forgot that law cut him in 3 parts?
he didnt even react when they got together
Sanji vs Vergo…Hyped!
interesting Mangastream give Kinemon the direct thou rather than the more polite you . . .
Is it me or Kinemon really forgot that law cut him in 3 parts?

Law wasn't even there…
http://www.mangareader.net/one-piece/678/14 http://www.mangareader.net/one-piece/678/13 here they are in the same room at least
I'm amped for sanji vs Vergo. Since Sanjis kicks are all named after food it would be funny if they stuck to his face.
2 options
Sanji kicks the shit out of Vergo
or Sanji's fight gets interupted
best one would be Sanji kicks the shit out of Vergo than leaves than comes Smoker and kicks the guy when down. Would be fair enough
Handicap or not, Sanji must not lose this. They barely started New World
VAs have different levels in the marine lol. And there are a lot of VAs (look at Garp). I think now is the time to show that Sanji can own an VA. And i think that Sanji will fight in the future Marco and Kizaru. I don't know why….
Because of the yellow theme? :blink:

Those minor fights were still against very powerful opponents. In the war, Luffy was getting owned all around by the admirals, even if they were minor skirmishes, but thats expected because the power difference is too much.
And haki is not the ultimate power. It helps in the fights, but there is no guarantee that you will win. Luffy still got injured when Hody bit him, cause his haki was not strong enough. The boa sisters lost to pre-ts luffy, simply because they could not keep up with Luffy, even with Haki. Tashigi losing is logical, and the same would have happened to anyone else, bar the monster trio in this case.
And the reason women characters seem weaker, is simply because there are not many to begin with. There are a lot more male characters in the series than female characters, as this is a manga about pirates. Out of those few, only a handful will be strong. There was nothing wrong with that scene.
I predict building B will also be filled with gaz in a nearby future.
http://mangastream.com/read/one_piece/82521962/1 Mangastream's version is out
Well Sanji and Vergo match up really is fitting, even if I think Sanji will lose
Sanji = Talked about being one pain of the ass for the marines
Vergo = Leader of G5
Sanji = Talked that he even would beat the DEMON king
Vergo = DEMON bamboo
Sanji = cook of the SHs and using attacks named after food
Vergo = Has various food in his face :rofl
Loved the brownbeard bit its like they are making house there and im quite liking the fellow who would have though that this guy became quite like able.
The buddy talk between smoker and luffy was good too.
All in all great chapter.
(as soon i saw Tashigi scene i knew that was going to be complaints here)
It was a great episode, damn Vergo how dare you make Tashigi san cry, before Sanji arrived I was like "Smoker san will show up and kick the hell out of Vergo", but Sanji's kick was epic, I really hope Sanji doesn't get beaten because that would be dissapointing, Luffy's punch was epic, I hope the fights will continue next chapter.
Can't wait for Sanji vs Vergo but I HIGHLY doubt Sanji will win. Vergo is a VA and we know he is a strong VA because he is the head of G-5. Luffy pre-TS couldn't take on VA's, so I doubt Sanji can take on the head of G-5. Then again it's hard to judge his strength as he had Law's heart. Still can't wait, and even though Sanji will lose it will be exiciting. I think Luffy will beat CC pretty easily but not before either another chase or some tricks, CC seems to be able to take a beating.
