Far as the complaints go, I started reading them with Lumpy Space Princess' voice so I've had a grand time with this. LSP's voice makes anything funnier and the fact that so many of them went into melodramatic territory made it even better.

But will you really be proud of overtaking Nia if 90% of it whining and complaining?
Yes. Yes of course.
-
To the people saying we'd never pull this stunt with a fan-favorite instead of Tashigi…
You do realize it was a 1 in 31 chance that Tashigi would be facing Satori?
You do realize it was a 1 in 31 chance for the other 30 guys to face Satori?Didnt the same thing happen with Drake vs Nami? And that other one where somebody just went 'oh well the names were wrong so it's not right' or something
Personally I'm just assuming the Satori stuff is a filler match since there was only one and we'll get Shakky vs Tashigi at the very end of the matches anyways.

THIS. This shit right here!!
Oh ma gad!!
-
Oh, my glob, Malissaaaa, this tournament has been ruined forevaaaaa!
-
That shit's hilarious.

As a representative of a real Satori fan, absolutely love him, top five favourite character (although highly dislike his brothers who have though never competed in the tournament), tried to campaign for him last year, I only used words though, no pictures (perhaps one or two of balls), he ofcourse got easily eliminated.
About the joke. Honestly like it. It is fun. The tournament this year has been really boring. Honestly. One or two of 32 matches in the first round were fun. I though it as well more funny if you read the posts in the Shakky and Satori match, where Shakky fans said he was a horrible character and the worst character in one piece (his brothers are though). They deserved it.
To the whiners, normal Shakky fans and Tashigi fans that have been on this forum for a few years, should know that this is how this forum works. That is why I like hanging in this tournaments, because people are trying to have fun, live a little. Honestly though, two years from now when you have recuperated from this horrible experience you will laugh at the gullible idiots. That is how live works, you are bad at something, people laugh at you and try to teach you. Later you see people being bad at the same thing, you laugh at them and teach them. Life. Learn and live and have fun. That is life. Live people live. Yeah I am a stuck up person.
-
Wait Satori has advanced again?…..eh, I'll take it, no sense in me complaining. Part of me thinks it's hiliarous, anyway.
-

This completely. Other than Hattori v. Nami and Jinbe v. Rayleigh, this tournament hasn't been too engaging. This little stunt has really piqued my interest, and I'm glad for that. I had a lot of fun backing a character most people really don't like, just to see where it went. The whole Satori thing saved this tournament for me.
-
Agreed, the tournament was starting to feel boring. Satori got me to participate, which I can't say for any other match so far.

FINALLY, someone remembers that Satori has brothers.
…..
What were their names again?

Anyways, people complained, which was something that you yourselves say it was inevitable to happen, right? Yet you're taking the complaining seriously and responding to it seriously… sooooo... in the end, what exactly did you expect? I don't get it.
The whining was more wide spread than expected, so it was addressed more and sooner than planned, and is why I decided to speak up to attempt to get it a little more under control. We count on a few people complaining, just not in such quantity. There are a lot of people who should have just known better what was going on based on the last 3 tournaments. Something like this is done every year.
If you poke someone with a stick people around might laugh but the one you poked might be pretty angry. You're not actually telling us you're "hurt" about the complains, now are you? It wouldn't make any sense.
Of course not, and I've said as much already, and very specifically I might add. The mods were expecting it and already had their rain gear on. If anything they were having a good time with all of it, as was I. I simply posted what I did as a reality check for people, and because it felt like it was getting a little out of hand.
It was obvious you were going to make some people angry, it's not our fault if you didn't expect this much pressure from the other party. You reap what you sow.
You made many people laugh while hurting a few, I didn't like that, I still don't like that, and I stand for it. You're not obligated to care if you don't want to, I just hope you do.
That's life on an internet forum. Making people angry has happened before and it will happen again. In one way, you could call the huge reaction a big success, as I'd never guess the event staff could rile people up that much with a little twist on a 4th year perennial prank. They seem to have performed it better than I could have ever expected. I guess in the end the rules are true, when it comes to trolling the event staff is actually good at it.
If anyone is seriously hurt by this, especially in the long term, then consider this training to get tougher skin. I guess the culture on this forum has changed over the past year and the community has become softer. I'm used to slugfests of debates taking place.
-
Shorter statement for those who aren't getting it:
If you're wondering if your vote'll count
and other statistical facts, -lalalala
just repeat to yourself "It's just a tourney,
I should really just relax."
It's AP Tourney Two thouuuuuuuuuusand and twelve. -
It could probably even be shortened into just a meme if need be.

Maybe everyone should have been thrown into the forest and abandoned at an early age. Garp knows best.
You don't have to justify their actions Urouge. Actually, I think it's detrimental for them if you do, since the most I can extract from the start of your post is "we weren't prepared for that many and it got out of hand" and that isn't a positive conclusion.
As for your initial intervention a few pages ago, even if your meant to cool things off I think Don Quichotte De Flamingo said it best. There were good intentions on the whole joke but if you're expecting complaints then why complain about the complaints? Just accept how things turned out. This is your turn to chill out.
I totally agree that this spiced things up, and there is plenty of fun to be had for those who read the whole thing. Just don't expect me to say that I would have agreed for the joke to run that long. I had faith that something better could have been pulled off, without pissing anyone off.
I'll look forward to the next, hopefully more thoughtful, shenanigan.

Well, previous years have had the joke only last 1 round, not 2 rounds (or 3 rounds if you count Satori's pass on the prelims). This is probably why there was a bit of an outcry after the first round, but when it seemed to continue into the second round, it WASN'T following the pattern of previous years, which is why there was a lot more outcry during this second round.
I also couldn't think of a way to "fix" the issue at this point, which is why I got upset & actually posted something. Since someone has pointed out an easy way to do a "fix", I'm not as upset about it anymore. (Plus I'm wondering why I cared about it so much in the first place. Maybe I unknowingly really hate Satori for some reason.)

The widespread hatred of Satori is the sole reason he got an Automatic Bid to the Tournament.
-
I was indifferent to Satori, but I think I like him more now.
-
I think I'll manage to remember his name for a couple of months now. xD I still don't care much for the guy though.
-

So last year it was Kriegsalom who went from being hated to a meme, and this year it was Satori …
Wonder who it'll be next year ...
-
Satori is the Impel Down wolves of this year's tourament. Took a character I had no interest in and made it a lot more fun.

I wasn't attempting to complain. I was merely attempting to explain. I like to do that. I also felt like giving the event staff the recognition I felt they deserved at the same time. It felt appropriate to me, and there's nothing more to it than that.
My blood pressure hasn't risen in the slightest today. I don't know where in my posts that it seems like I need to chill out, but I guess I came off as angry? I didn't mean to.

Well yeah, there always has to be a twist to keep people off balance.

For the record, a meme is something that goes viral on the whole internet, not limited to one website.
-
Even if it wasn't your intention your post made the mods look like victims. Now I doubt that was the intent, but that's how it looked.
When I say you people should also chill out I mean that you should give it a rest. You didn't came off as angry at all.

Very true, but I don't really care at this moment to think of the correct term. Let's just say AP Meme, like the Jinbe face, everything being Doflamingo or Sabo, and 'toris.

I was actually referring to one that already existed.

I like how you respond to me and tell me to stop responding all in the same post. Two posts in a row even. Typically if I want a back and forth to stop, I stop responding.

An internet meme is a meme that goes viral on the whole internet.
An Arlong Park meme, like that Tori craze, is one that goes viral within this place.~

I've been meaning to ask this for a while. Is there a place where all those Tori's are stored for grabs? (besides Nia's computer)

Is it possible/likely they'll ever become options for avatars like the ones that are available from the site that few people actually use?
Sorry, this is random.

Let's get back to discussing our predictions on who will face the Ordeal of Balls in Round 3.
My money's on Garp.

I'm sorry. I thought the tournament was over and Garp was declared the winner.
Is that not what the dozens of pages of complaining were about?

You guys are making this awesome again. Good stuff.

Pimpin' Hattori should become widespread though <3

All this back and forth talk bores me. I miss Brownbeardgator. This was supposed to be his year. I blame Oda for waiting until after his match to give him a face turn and awesome personality development(yeah, yeah I know).
-
So how is the not 1st match going to be normalised anyway ?
Because there's autopassing and then there's reversing the poll question after the poll has closed to make that character pass anyway. And that is cheap.
-
Do you know what else is cheap?
Donut holes

Kitsune, I've a very long night shift behind me so I'll be brief.
The first time was bad enough. Tashigi not making it further at all now would be adding insult to griveous injury.

Everyone accepted their fate, but we're still going to talk about it for weeks.

I have not accepted and will not accepted. I have principles. And if I can't stand by them in trivial shit like this then they aren't worth damn.
-
Uhm, I thought it was heavily implied over the past few pages that there's something planned? Or has my reading comprehension deteriorated that bad?
-
I propose next year instead of a tournament we have a hunger games and we select everyone in this thread as tribute and have them ban each other
Because clearly spicty satori ordeal of balls is not enough excitement
