I'm personally most interested in what it says about Akainu's and Aokiji's duel and its effects on Punk Hazard. The pictures make it seem like the volcanoes and ice mountains were already there before they even started fighting, but surely that can't be the case since we were told the island was originally full of plant life, before the "accident" turned into a toxic wasteland.
My apologies if this was already discussed in the thread and I managed to miss it.
-
In the annotations of the images, it is said that the Hie Hie and the Magu Magu powers raised the ice mountains and volcanoes. The clash of Aokiji and Akainu created a hole in the center of the island, and, due to a crack opening up in the frozen ground, the ocean water flowed into the hole. Some of the magma fell down in the adjacent sea, causing its temperature to rise. Dry winds blow in the area, and the water vapour created clouds. On the frozen side, the snow falls like kaolin/clay (? not sure if I understood that sentence correctly), while, on the other half, the fire continues.
-
I don't even know what kaolin is, there's no such word. You must be trying to read Japanese as Chinese.
It just says on the on the frozen side, the cloud made by vapor and dry wind snows down on it.
The vapor is created by magma fallen into the sea, and gets picked up the the dry wind and creates clouds.
The clouds then rain down on the frozen side of the island, causing the snow.Everything else is right on the dot.

Aohige to the rescue.
Aww yiss. -

No, I just realized that I entered the wrong kanji for this reading earlier on, which meant I wound up with 'kaolin' instead of 'frozen ground'. As a sidenote: Kaolin is a type of mineral mostly consisting of aluminium silicate, apparently also called china clay.
Anyway, thanks for the correction!

Now that I think about it, if Seakings were really up to 5000m big then Shirahoshi would be pretty much invincible.
"but wait, what can she do with that power while on land? it becomes totally useless!"
Not if those suckers really are that massive. Just imagine the flood wave they could activate; or even tear the land apart. Quite a terrifying force indeed.
Yes and hence the power to literally sink entire countries into the sea. There must be even bigger and scarier ass sea kings just waiting in the New World, and 1 can only imagine how fking monsterous they must be in the unchartered waters between whatever the known frontier of the New World and Raftel.

Aaaaand I got 5 Jumps in a row when I was in Japan (including two Naruto covers), but I miss this one.
Does anyone know a website that sells Jump overseas?
-
To buy a single issue, you can try Japan Centre.

I wish Oda would reveal the significant characters histories in these books,So we don't have to go through them in the manga, and just get on with the plot.

The history of a character is definitely part of the plot. Do you want this to be like Naruto & Bleach where nobody gets developed but the main characters?

You post like you're in Gear .5 bro.
-
looks at Bleach and the shitty novels
Yeah, I don't think that method is working out very well.
-
I don't know if it was in the manga right now, but there is this:
Wouldn't the size of this block of ice be a good indication of how big the sea kings height is?
I can see the sea kings being over 5000m in length but not in height: 500m in height sounds about right, no?
-
of course it's the lenght!! the same is for all the animals there.

let me know if you forbid any mirror links -
The fluffy flamingo snake Sea King thing could easily be 5 km. It's absolutely huge and oblong and we've never the seen the whole of it. So if it's the longest Sea King, and 5 km is only how long the longest Sea King, all makes sense.

Young fool, I was once like you.

Young fool, I was once like you.
You and me both. I remembered when I was younger I wanted everything spoon fed to me immediately in these books. In fact, why doesn't he just write "One Piece is actually a swimsuit" in his next data book and end all speculation on the story. Wheee! No point in reading the comic anymore.

Like i said before, all those locations wore already told here, in the Grand Countdown suplement before the time-skip.
http://www.turboimagehost.com/p/4095876/003.jpg.html
All in the same place. The new map is just a "clean version". It's a confirmation, but it's nothing new, since all other stuff wore in the same place in the skecths as in the final work, those would pretty much be the same too.
It was also called Gland Line. Pre-series sketches are far from confirmations and a world different from anything even resembling canon. That's the first publication of them in non-sketch material with author consent that confirms the name.
lol @ the term XXXXXX-cultist. It takes some serious issues to hate on someone for bringing info to the table that gets nothing out of it.
While the 'stop hating on Greg' calls are a very kind gesture, the truth is that the vocal and virulent detractors are very small in number and consist of individuals who, at one point or another, I probably had to call out for saying something stupid or blatantly incorrect. They don't post much and when they do, it's usually related to hating on a guy they never actually met.
In the past I sent them private messages to see if we could work things out and e_very_ message to every individual was ignored.
They just want to hate something in their life and they've chosen me. Please don't waste space 'defending' me when all it does is provoke them and the very act of doing so (especially passionately) just makes them 'right'.
haters gonna something or other.

I wonder how big Nola is. Nola is the giant snake from Skypiea.

This might be kind of random, but why are some people's bounties so low? Specifically Arlong, Crocodile, and Kuma? Let's think… Arlong was a member of Tiger's crew, just like Jinbē, whose FIRST bounty was 76mil. Someone who terrorized the New World should have a higher bounty than 20mil, IMO. Crocodile's bounty is just bizarre considering the fact that he made into the NW and challenged WB, not to mention his Shichi status. Finally, Kuma... IDK, it just seems like he should have a higher bounty than the likes of Caesar and Moria, and it becomes even stranger when you consider that Luffy was worth 300mil (and his crew was worth significantly more) at the point when the SHs were defeated by Kuma. I know that bounty =/= strength, but come on.

Crocodile's and Kuma's bounty stayed so low, because they were shichibukai. Crocodile, as well as Hancock, probably only had one big incident before the got an invitation. And Kuma's bounty most likely rose pretty fast too I guess, because he tried to become a shichibukai willingly to spy for the revolutionaries.
Arlong wasn't seen as anything special in the Sun Pirates, while Strawberry reported that Tiger and Jinbe were the really strong ones. And after they split up, Nezumi coverd all up for Arlong.

I'm pretty sure Oda didn't think the whole bounty thing through and they just got higher and higher. So, Arlong and Crocodile had super high bounties for then (Crocodile, considering his had been frozen for some time). But yeah, it looks like, now, some super rookie who tried to go up against Whitebeard would probably have had a higher bounty.
Kuma's former bounty, I see no issue with.

bounty numbers do NOT =/= strength because they mean how much of a THREAT they're to the world govt/marines because Blackbeard had no bounty when he beat Ace who had a bounty of 550 million and he also finished off Whitebeard who most likely had a bounty over a billion.
a easy way to explain it's that the old warlords had low frozen bounty's because back then they had less money to give out for bounty's but now they have more money which is why Jinbe's bounty more than doubled when he stopped being a warlord and it would be boring if the highest bounty was shown when Dragon first appeared because he has the highest one because he wants to take over the world govt which is why he is the biggest THREAT to them.
-
Arlong wasn't seen as a threat when he was with the sun pirates. So he wasn't seen as a threat, and Crocodile probably became a shichibukai right after his first bounty.
-
@Law:

LOL, they simply became warlords quickly so they didn't have time to raise them a lot. I think Oda is doing well with the bounties, and talking about Crocodile's one, maybe he didn't do nothing of much importance until he faced Whitebeard ( and got his ass kicked ), then the GW instantly contacted him to offer him the position. I don't see anything wrong with the rest of the warlords, their bounties seem logical.
-
@Law:

'=/=' means 'not equal to' so they said 'bounty is not equal to strength' and you said 'bounty is equal to strength'.

Well, at least Oda has a chance to "rectify" Crocodile's bounty now that he's active again. Can't wait to see it.

Kuma's former bounty, I see no issue with.
Pretty sure he had a good idea of what he was doing with Crocodile if he introduced Boa Hancock with an 80 million berry bounty just before the time skip.
-
Actually, in a way, having a low frozen bounty as a Shichibukai is kind of impressive.
It means they didn't have to do a lot to prove themselves.
Take Hancock, WG saw her immense power, and immediately decided to offer her the position.High frozen bounty can mean the pirate was around for a while, proving his might, before the WG took notice.
(Or that they just didn't feel like taking up the offer, but changed their minds much later) -

What are you talking about, Oda hasn't make the SHs said them self but have made other said it, everybody should know by now that Zoro is the vice captain of the strawhats
-
it's often debated if it's zoro or usopp. It's never truly stated by oda but most onlookers in the series percieve zoro to be vice-captain
