Andrew Garfield's Spiderman was a dick. He spends half the movie being a douche to aunt May. Then when Ben dies he's like, "Meh." I'm sorry if that's the kind of behavior you like in a superhero but to me, when Peter Parker was taken in by his aunt and uncle that's something to be thankful for and the Peter Parker I knew, as well as the PP TM portrayed had that humility. AG's PP felt like the world owed him something and he didn't even care when Ben died.

Tensions get high when people discuss a movie about a guy that dresses up as a bat to terrify criminals. Footage at 11.
On that note, how many criminals are legitimately terrified of bats? I'd say it has to be less than 10%.
-

That's actually a very glaring oversight that I'd like to give some serious thought to. If everyone can put down their stakes and torches that's actually a really good question.
-

How about a crazy guy dressed like a bat that can beat the shit out of you? Probably more than 90%

True, true. And certainly more intimidating than PublicSpeakingMan.
-
So I want to know what you guys think. If Ledger was still alive, do you think he'd have a small cameo in this movie, just like
! Scarecrow did? In fact, he probably would've been in that same court room scene and be a prosecutor or something to that effect, with some comic relief moments.
On that note, how many criminals are legitimately terrified of bats? I'd say it has to be less than 10%.
Not so much a bat, but a man in a suit coming out of nowhere in the darkness and beating you to a pulp, and who vanishes in less than a minute when you think you've got your sight on him.
Look at The Dark Knight. He went all the way to Hong Kong, broke into a building and beat up some night security guards, grabbed the man he came for, and got out of there in a jiffy.

God bless ya, Nex, you're such a committed defender. I'd almost prefer not to see the movie now so I don't have to worry about arguing with you again. :)
I don't understand what I'm defending though! I have said multiple times that I'm okay with people not liking the film as much as I did. I haven't been arguing with people who don't like the film. The whole thing with XerXes started because he made a list of plot holes that weren't actually plot holes. Since he liked the film, I figured that proving things weren't plot holes would only help him like the film more. I have no idea why things devolved into this. I'm honestly at a loss.
@XerXes:
I think it your nailing me to a cross that had something to do with that. But I digress. It's wrong for me to have a different opinion about this movie. I have to agree with you on everything concerning the TDKR. It's not enough that I enjoyed the movie, I have to agree with a critic who doesn't know how to do his job, on every conceivable level. Please, name something about the TDKR that places it over the top of the likes of Citizen Kane so that I might agree with you. Tell me why you think this is the perfect movie so that I might prostrate myself before your infinite movie wisdom. The wisdom you have as a critic who needs to see a movie three times before he can write one good review.
I am not guilty of saying this is the best movie of all time. I said I thought it was the best of the series. Though you made a bad choice with Citizen Kane, as I am not a fan of the film. :P
And the cheap shot at my profession is uncalled for. I wrote the review for my paper after 1 viewing. I can accurately judge a film without bias after seeing it once. Seeing it 3 times is something I do for me, because then I know if it has good rewatch value. For me. And I don't often see it for a third time until it's out on DVD. Most of the time the paper pays for me to see it twice. Once it's already out. Getting invited to critic screenings is rare. Batman is the first one I've been to all year, and I didn't even know I was going until a few days before.
But that's all besides the point.
I don't want to argue. I thought I made that clear in my post last night.
So this is going to be my last response to you concerning this issue. I will talk to you about other things elsewhere., but I'm done with this.

I still want to know why…
! Talia's existence in the movie
is Somehow a plothole. It made perfect sense and she felt like she belongs in the narrative. The concept that she's a plothole makes no sense to me whatsoever. -

Oh come on. Everyone has at least one friend who does that.

That's what I think happens when you have a somewhat important twist like that. Those that like it see it as a good twist, and those that don't will call it out of nowhere in a bad way or call it a plothole because it wasn't super foreshadowed or something like that.
! I did think Bane was kinda hard to understand a few parts of the movie. The stadium scene especially. Bane wailing on Batman against the pillar made up for that though. -

Just to be clear, wasn't trying to be condescending or anything like that at all. And I think you're defending the movie from what you consider to be unfair charges rather than defending it against any criticism.

! I did think Bane was kinda hard to understand a few parts of the movie. The stadium scene especially. Bane wailing on Batman against the pillar made up for that though.! I thought it was pretty damn super foreshadowed with the scar the camera stared at on her back. Never read the comics or have seen the shows, and I could tell she would reveal herself as a bad guy late in the film. Also, once she knew the plan of the cops to track the bomb because they knew it was in a truck… why not alert Bane? Change the plan? Why parade the bomb around to begin with? It as clear she was bad, but until her reveal, her actions didn't always add up. Also, why was the whole it is raining and they have sex thing necessary aside to show us the scar? She already had what she needed.
-

Yeah, let me be clear too, I didn't think you were being condescending. After all, I quite enjoy our disagreements, as you I don't think it's ever gotten to the part where you and I are constantly attacking each other. Plus you and I are always able to find a common ground in Goth Britta.
I just got exasperated, so I may have sounded more defensive than I meant to.
-
Yeah very sweet whatever. So how long before we see another Batman movie? Obviously it's unlikely we'll see one from Nolan, but five to seven years from now is the next Batman movie going to be yet another reboot or a stand alone story?
-
If Man of Steel does well both critically and commercially, that will hopefully encourage DC to try turning other properties into films so that they stay away from Batman. But considering Rises is already breaking Avenger's records that seems unlikely.
Ideally at least a decade will pass before we see another Batman movie.

Well there were rumors that we'd see a Wonder Woman movie this year but that news was announced back in 2011 and so far everything has gone dark on that project. I'd personally like to see a modern version of the Flash.
-
I myself want Flash or Martian Manhunter.
And for Man of Steel to be a part of a shared universe. -
On The Dark Knight Rises…, you guys have to check out these vid reviews.

Wait people think
! Talia came out of nowhere? Haven't they seen other Batman media? Comics? The Animated Series? I knew something was wrong when Bane was said to be Ra's al Ghul's son. I've read the comics and watched the 90's cartoon, and in both, Talia was his daughter. When the same was true in the movie, I wasn't that surprised.
-
! Also, Ra's al Ghul mentions in Batman Begins that he had a wife and kid.
-
A Flash movie and perhaps a Wonder Woman or even Green Arrow movie (though unlikely)
I wouldn't be able to resist a good Green Arrow movie.
-

We think a like. I don't know who would play the Green Arrow or direct it for that matter but if it is done good it would kick ass.
–------------------------------------------------------
! Also I forgot about Talia's scar until someone mentioned it. I knew from the animated series or something I had read that Bane was from some dark prison. I didn't realize Ras Al Ghul had a daughter. But watching Batman Begins the morning I saw it, made the experience better and brought it all around. As long as Nolan doesn't do a Lucas in 20 years and make shitty prequels I'm happy
-
Yes, i saw that sometime ago, ill just modify my post by saying that he is the producer. He wont be the director. He will just be involved in a superhero movie.
Guess who's about to eat some crow? This guy! points at myself
I did some digging and…David S. Goyer (cowriter of every film in Nolan's Batman trilogy) wrote the screenplay (by himself) for Man of Steel based on a story conceived by him and Nolan.
I was quite wrong there. Now it makes sense as to why he's producing it.
This has caused me to become immensely more interested in Man of Steel. We've got Goyer who has a decent track record (good things: the Blade films, Jumper, and Flashforward -- bad things: The Unborn, Ghost Rider 2 (yikes!)) and developed the story with Nolan, we've got Snyder at the helm, and I am a big fan of his directing. Even Sucker Punch looked great.
Though I am confused as to why they used the score for Lord of the Rings in the teaser.
-
Ok seriously, I'm just gonna throw this out there for you guys to see what an amazing Idea this is.
The Flash starring Neil Patrick Harris as Barry Allen.
-
! Also, why was the whole it is raining and they have sex thing necessary aside to show us the scar? She already had what she needed.
! Although it wasn't exactly needed, I think Nolan just wanted to stay true to the comic in some ways. And they (Bruce & Talia) did end up with Damian Wayne
-
God this movie was fucking awesome. So worth it. And Anne Hathaway Oh my goodness..
Also saw the teaser for Man of Steel and at first I swear I thought it looked like a movie based on fishermen, lol.
! So I suppose Blake will rise as the new Batman/Robin/Knightwing. Still a bit confused by the ending.. Good to know Bruce finally found a life of his own with Selina though. I'm guessing it was implied that they erased their identities and started over.. Idk. I thought Talia was a nice twist, don't see how it was a plothole.
! I thought Anne Hathaways's Catwoman was the best out of all the movies (sorry Pfeiffer and Halle).Blake was alright. They made it too blatant that he idolized Batman and was disgusted by killing just like Batman is, though. I kind of expected him to end up being Robin, but I knew Nolan wouldn't let him be Robin in this movie. That final scene where he crouches and stands up once he enters the Batcave and all the bats come flying out is a great nod to BB. Then how he rises and the movie just ends. Perfect. Can't say I really liked most of the cops in this one, though. Especially the asshat who kept calling Blake a hothead. OH HEY A WOMAN'S BEING ROBBED LET'S SAVE HER! "Oh you damn hotheads!" It's common fucking reasoning and the dude just straight up dismissing Blake like a dick. Also, not sure if intentional, but I was real fucking glad the mayor died. Just seemed like a prick.
! There's a lot of haters for this one and I keep hearing shit like it's the worst out of the whole trilogy, but I still fucking loved it. I've always just loved Nolan's superrealistic direction with the trilogy. He makes it work so well in a universe that's relatively not so realistic but still within the realm of possibility somewhat. People bitched about Catwoman being a sidekick but I don't think she was a sidekick but more so her own actual character. Batman always had help from Fox and Gordon anyway so this was nothing new. Bane was almost perfect save for his inaudible voice at times, especially during the football game/explosions scene. Nolan made him very memorable. What else can be said about this film? Just a great end to a great trilogy. The ending to this one was nothing more than a cocktease so I really don't expect any Knightwing spin-off or whatever. Also loved the Scarecrow cameo. That was well done. -

No I haven't, which is probably why I did not care for the 'twist' at all.
! Also, Talia didn't do anything afterwards except for having one of the worst death scenes ever
-
! Wasn't she the true main villain tho? Bane was just a decoy, in a way. That or her "puppet", but he was doing it for her, so she wasn't necessarily using him.
-

! I suppose she was meant to be the main villain, but in my opinion she didn't do anything to make it seem that way. Everything she did could've just done by Bane and it would've been perfectly fine for me. To me Bane is now just a boring follower, with no real motives.

I should have done some digging myself, but a lazy bum as usual.
Thanks for the info. I was never much into Superman, but lets see how this goes. And i actually got pissed when they used Lord Of The Ring's in teaser.

On a seconding viewing I enjoyed it much more than I did the first time. TDK was still better overall if you ask me, but that could simply be a bias opinion.

! The plan was that after Gotham was destroyed, was to come visit Bruce in prison and rub his defeat in his face. I'd imagine that's when Talia was planning on making her true reveal.

Dang. Beat to the punch.

! When did she exactly plan on leaving? Seemed to still be there when Bruce arrived pretty late in the game. I still think it was dumb and poor character development. If that is true, it just shows how shallow of a character she is.

That or she just wasn't planning on revealing herself to Bruce at all and only did so because the opportunity presented itself. Though that doesn't support the she slept with him to make it hurt more theory. -
Although it could have been better than The Dark Knight, it was one of my most enjoyable films ever and the beginning is now one of my favourite scenes of all time. The end was good enough to close this trilogy.
I gave it a 9 out of 10. I was clapping for a long time but not too long when the credits began to roll.
-
@Nex:

That or she just wasn't planning on revealing herself to Bruce at all and only did so because the opportunity presented itself. Though that doesn't support the she slept with him to make it hurt more theory.! We are going to have to agree to disagree because if she really wanted to do that and really intimately hated him on that level, she would have been there. She would have been there to see him see it on the news because there is no moment that would have been greater than that initial despair. When she got there, whenever she was planning, he would have been in total despair already that it wouldn't have mattered. So either she is a shallow character, or what I think, everything is just written for convenience of the film… which is how most things were in the trilogy.
-

This has only happened to me during the Yu-gi-oh movie thing back in 2005ish that they gave you some special card to bribe people into watching it.
I wanna see this movieeee but I'm too paranoid after that guy did that thing involving theaters recently ;_; I must wait! At least a week!
-
! Has anyone made a Pell reference to the ending yet? I could see some hilarious photoshoping take place.
-
Hans Zimmer never stops amazing me.
-
Finally seen it! Really enjoyed it! it was epic, clever, well written, it had a great cast in some great roles performing excellently. Although I thought that Bane was a little underdeveloped and…
! I can't believe that Batman pulled a Pell. douche
-
! Remember Bruce fixed the autopilot so him surviving makes much more sense than Pell did
-
I didn't like 2 things in this film but loved EVERYTHING else.
-
The massive devotion to Bane was never explained or touched on.
-
Catwoman felt a little tacked on.
-
