Chapter 672: "My Name Is Kinemon!!!"

It's not gravity Blackbeard said that his darkness is gravity or that is how darkness is shown as being able to pull things in and release them. Apart from him being the real captain of the Roger pirates and the actual first Pirate King, I do hope Doflamingo shows up in the next 2 or 3 arcs, I really want to see him fight Luffy. This arc isn't going to be over anytime soon unless it's like Water 7 and ends up starting a new arc on another island but it seems like we are at the point comparatively where CP9 just beat up the SH's at Water 7. I think the turnaround will happen soon and if not it will happen after Virgo does some more damage.

Also I'm 99.99% sure Virgo's attack was haki, it wouldn't make sense for it to be something else. However why his haki shows the blackening like Luffy's while Shank's or others didn't doesn't make sense. Unless blackening = denser haki power, like it can be used to the level of Luffy vs Pacifista or Luffy grabbing Smokershigi's arm or to the power of breaking iron shields and destroying island sized boats.

Lastly opinions on the arc so far? Compared to the mini-Reunion arc and FI arc? Overall? When Law appeared I was like nice, the YCB annoyed me, CC's gassing people and not fighting is annoying, but now that I know Virgo and Joker are the stronger of this arc's villains and CC himself wasn't thrashed by the haki hits like Hordy I'm saying it's about like Alabasta arc where it has annoying parts but you know it's going to end with epic battles and the plotline is pretty good.

i was also pretty surprised that CC came back that strongly, definitely more exciting this way. The question is even CC seems to be a simple employee for these guys, so i'm thinking the crew will definitely have to grow stronger to finish this arc.

Those are just reasonably-good Western approximations. The kanji used are, explicitly, "fox" and "fire," which is the Japanese folktale version of mysterious, unearthly fires in the woods/other creepy places, thought to be caused by youkai. Foxfire or even the untranslated kitsunebi make a lot more sense than those other options (one of them in Latin, another being a nautical phenomenon) given that Kinemon and Wano are very clearly Japan-themed (not to mention that his transformation powers are also linked to kitsune).

And for god's sake it's not "Virgo." Nor is it Valgo, Bargo, Velcro, Vega, Vagitudinal, or Grilledchickenface. Those all have completely different katakana spellings. Once more, the current romanization options are, until one of them is confirmed in a volume, Wergo/Vergo/Welgo/Velgo.

I just realized something amusing about this chapter by reading CCC's mangarule release of it (go check that out! Their quality is unparalleled!).

A random guy in the crowd asks "Could it be… Conqueror's Haki?" after all of the Straw Hats are knocked out then another guy goes, "You idiot! There's no way the difference in their power could be enough for that!!" Oda subliminally commentating on certain forum debates? Oda subliminally commentating on certain forum debates.

We've already had several examples of him using varying types of gases, from;

Deadly/Poison - Spread across the the area when the G-5 were arriving, and used on Luffy (Gas Robe)..

Stimulant - Laced into candy to give the kids.

Flammable/Explosive - If you count the slime- as it was once a gas..

To whatever he's used on the group in this latest chapter, assuming it's some sort of stimulant/sleeping gas..

Oda's made a point of mentioning more than once that he's experimented on his own gases, so I don't know why people are doubting the fact that he can use more than one type..

ahhh!! You're right! Thank you.. I don't know how I forgot about that one when it was the very first instance we got of his gas ability..So far we've seen 6 different types.

NHC10 is not a gas, it's a narcotic, and Caesar certainly didn't invent it… Kureha was using it, after all.

I don't think he invented any of those gases, but that doesn't defeat the fact that he can use them..

I always assumed that DF users like Magellan and CC were using unique poisons and gasses, the only source of which was their bodies… But I guess it's not out of the question for them to exude substances that already exist in the OP world. However, that raises another question: Why doesn't Caesar just take 'em all out with CO, or even CO2?

Also the reason why the Slime doesn't explode, is that it's only when the gas inside gets released and burned that it explodes.

haki's requires a strong mental state rather than physical prowess, so switching bodies isn't really a problem for haki users to use it.

Well, if CC could do that, he'd be way more than a mad scientist on a hidden island somewhere. He'd be able to take out places like Marineford, almost by himself, just by covering the island in Carbon Monoxide.

More likely, he can't control/create every gas at will. Luffy was apparently Asphyxiated but that's possible with any heavier-than-air gas, while the rest were put to sleep, presumably by the same sleeping gas that was used at the start of the arc. Its entirely possible that CC has to work more with his DF to control other kinds of gas than the ones he can currently use.

i see, but foxfire still sounds a bit weird to me. probably we have to wait to better understand his powers.

Without haki, I'm not sure how Usopp could make a mark on CC. A much more suitable opponent for him would be the Cool Brothers, given their weapons. We still haven't seen their faces, so at least one of them may make a comeback.

I think this has more to do with the WG rather than a yonko or other pirate crews. Wergo is defiantly working for someone (the joker I believe). Joker has to be someone within the government because he's been able to cover up some stories. If I was taking a guess this is all tying into the Science Unit of the marines, which has been mentioned by Sentomaru.

So the correct spelling is "Vergo" pronounced like "Wergo" since it's German. I took German in HS and I still forgot that W sounded like V, I knew the reverse was true… probably why I got a C in German II

That gif and Igosuki's display summarize this future travelling revelation…btw I'm always so intrigued by how big a deal people make out of pronunciation. Go by whatever is easier to say! :P Vergo it is. Likely I won't read it any other way now though, since at least Vergo is close to a familiar sounding English word. That's how my mind works when reading comics...
