Wow, nice work…but useless. What if he's someone new?
i thought of that, but its way more fun assuming that the stranger is someone we already know of. Any theories that involve people we do not know are kind of just dice rolls.

Am I the only one to think(ok just read the first page nvm) that the way luffy and law got downed is so incredibly similar and that luffy defeat doesn't have anything to do with ceasars gas attacks?
Yes its a fair conclusion to draw. Caesar's just taking the credit for it because he probably doesn't know about the 'mysterious' man's presence. When Luffy recovers, he's going to have an Enel-face.
I would be highly amused if Caesar had nothing to do with Luffy falling over, and it was only because Luffy and Law's hearts are linked.
considering how funny/retarded CC has been so far i would't be surprised by that lol
It could be Vegapunk. It would be so damn cool if Law used to be his understudy.
!
I can see it, LOL.
Its pretty easy to understand that it is a character that we hasnt seen before. "Youve gotten so big, Law." "How many years has it been?" According to this, its pretty clear that it is a person who knew Law from a young age, and hasnt seen him for many years. Most of the suggested people except Vegapunk, saw Law at the war.
Really good chapter this week.
-Well, Kinemon, Sanji and Brook seem to have a fetish, I see.
-Hmm, Mone seems interesting, in her alliances in general.
-Oh, it's really interesting that haki is the same energy that's inside the seastone.
-So the slime monster can explode by itself?
-What kind of gas did Ceasar use on Luffy? A nervegas or something? Cause it can't be poison.
-Why did Law collapse? Who is that guy at the end? If I'd guess, probably Joker.
It's too bad there's no chapter next week.
it's not doflamingo , he doesn't wear LONG pants… and or normal shoes for that matter..
the best bet sofar is aokiji, but guessing this because of the shoes might be exactly what oda wants us to think...
although i am also going with it being aokiji , he disappeared since he lost against akainu and he resigned from the marines because he didn't want to work under akainu, plus he fought at that island, noone has seen him since, the island is partly covered in snow/ice , punk hazard also cannot be detected by the new world logpose, so it's a perfect place to hide...
it doesn't make sense for it to be vegapunk as caesar used to work with him, they don't appear to be on friendly terms to eachother anymore..
joker also makes no sense, why would this person in command of some part of the world government who pulls strings like making false reports and or hide events from the public etc , be on the island when we saw caesar talking to him on the den den mushi... , if he was on the island then caesar should have easily been able to go to him and talk to him in person.
plus i highly do think this joker guy is the small blonde haired person that was talking to doflamingo in episode 513, because he was the one that gave the order to get rid of moriah, while the newspapers afterwards conveniently reported moriah died on the battlefield... which implies that the person who covered up the news story is the same person that gave the order to get rid of moriah in the first place.
It has to be Vegapunk IMO. The final large panel that shows the silhouette even has the technological aspects of the panel drawn in high detail and focused on, and all of the wires seem to "lead to him" visually in the panel, perhaps suggesting that the silhouette has an edge with technology. Far-fetched, I guess, but I like looking into the panels to find hidden details.
… This is going to be a loooong two weeks. x_X That cover page was inspired, really enjoyed it. Also HAHAHAHA at Oda referencing that type of slime, and of course Brook would be the one who remembered that. "Jet Mace" is new, right? Or is the translation just off for that panel on Mangahere?
Also, since Luffy and Law were shown being brought to their knees / incapacitated back to back, I think the cause is related, so I do believe those theoryists out there who say they switched hearts... sometime. Just don't know when they would've done it.
One more thing, I was so excited to see Monet's power to know what she's capable of but Oda just had to do this kind of cliffhangers.
You know, I kinda was surprised that Sanji in Nami's body volunteer to rescue the samurai's torso that is located below the sea surface, I thought it was gonna be Zoro but yeah, Sanji felt it was his fault that he didn't keep a watch onto that samurai and the result was the loss of the latter's torso under the sea. So Sanji decided to make up for it and rescue the torso, though some fans might think it's a fanservice because…Sanji in Nami's body in bikini swim under the sea to get that torso. Oh and did anyone notice Caesar's Gas Gas fruit ability attack, 'Gastanets' is a PUN of 'Castanets' because the way he move and closed his hands when he used that attack is like the way you played the castanet in your hand? And lastly, I think it could either be JOKER or Vegapunk which I doubt it's the latter unless there's a connection between Law and the doctor...though I think it's possible.
A great chapter. Loved the action, that was nice. We learn more about the gas gas fruit. And a nice cliffhanger.
Though the end note ruined it, no chap next week.
Theories: I have two guesses for who the mystery character at the end is.
My first guess is Doflamingo. First of all, we must assume that whoever can bring Law down like this at least has shichibukai caliber strength. Among the characters we are familiar with, the only characters that have abilities that mess with your heart are probably Doflamingo and.. ? Thats it? Doflamingo's ability is still kind of a mystery. but we know that he is able to control people's actions like puppets. Following the switched personalities of the Straw Hats via the switching of their hearts, we can assume that someone who can control someone's personality may also have the ability to crush a personality, aka crush a heart.
This may be a farfetched theory, but thinking of the different characters that the mystery person can be, Doflamingo's ability is the closest thing that comes to mind.
My second guess is Ao Kiji and it is purely for aesthetic reasons. Aokiji looks the closest thing to the silhouette. I also think that Oda treats every picture as important, and focuses in on the stranger's shoe. Here is the silhouette of the stranger which includes a picture of his shoe. http://www.mangainn.com/manga/chapter/87084_the-gas-gas-fruit/page_16
Notice that the head is not shown and the shoe is focused on. If it were aokiji, the head would definitely give it away with aokiji's noticeable hair. As for the shoe, it sure looks a lot like Aokiji's previously worn shoes shown here and in most other pictures of him http://media.animevice.com/uploads/0/9046/189641-aokiji2_super.png
Also, if you can find another significant character who wears the same style shoe, I would be curious to see it. So far ive checked Crocodile, Shanks, Akainu, Kizaru, Dragon (could not see feet), Doflamingo, Ivankov, #2, Sabo (boots when young), Boa Hancock, Basil Hawkins, and Blackbeard. Feel free to double check me, but no one else so far has that shoe style except Aokiji.
(ill edit this if you guys correct me or something)
Edit1: For those who are saying its Law's dad, wouldn't Law's dad call him Trafalgar? He called him Law. It would be like Dragon calling Luffy "Mugiwara" dont you think? Might be a translation error or im just wrong. But to me, a dad wouldn't say call his son like that.
Sigh…it was taking too long...
Am I the only one to think(ok just read the first page nvm) that the way luffy and law got downed is so incredibly similar and that luffy defeat doesn't have anything to do with ceasars gas attacks?
I agree. From a plot structure point of view, it would seem shoddy and anti-climactic to have Luffy explaining his poison immunity on one page and collapsing from poisoning on the next. Not necessarily anything to do with Law, but I don't think it's because of Caesar…
And mystery man is obviously not Doflamingo. He's missing Doflamingo's characteristic bowleggedness, and Doflamingo saw Law at the war two years ago, by which point he was already grown-up, of course. And that's the same reason that it can't be Aokiji or anyone else from Sabaody or the War.
EDIT: Oh... as Knaxern already said.
Hmm. Who would want chemical weapons capable of wiping out islands?
The bastard level of these weapons rule out most anyone who's not looking to conquer on a massive scale.
Barrels ftw, loved Franky this chap and his exposition of Luffy's abilities.

should we assume that everyone in attendance at the war saw everyone? Shanks was at the War but as i recall Luffy did not see him there.

If they were to be used against the Yonkou, the revolutionaries or pirates in general… Yeah, you probably catch my drift.
-Oh, it's really interesting that haki is the same energy that's inside the seastone.
It's not. Busoshoku allows you to strike a Logia's body, but it doesn't negate their powers, like Kairoseki would.
I'm dead.
The awesomeness of this chapter has made me dead.
Seriously.
Expect a better reaction later when I get home.

I share the same idea.
Wow man! This chapter was off the hook, I had to make an account and talk about it myself!
I'm not too sure about who this guy is but one thing for sure is, that he has to be the JOKER. I really hope it's not a new character but someone that has not been revealed yet or someone from before - it does look like Aokoji a bit and he did have a fight on Punk Hazard but, it doesn't fit his personality. All I can say is that this chapter was really really realllyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy good! Oda never disappoints!!
oh but fml 2 weeks wait
If they were to be used against the Yonkou, the revolutionaries or pirates in general… Yeah, you probably catch my drift.
If Caesar is working with the revolutionaries the plottwist would just blow my mind
I always found 'It's ME!' a very annoying answer to the question, 'Who is it?'
!
My guess is that the new guy is some kind of Kryptonite which makes Law useless, and since Luffy has the same heart as Law, he collapsed too. But I have no idea what kind of kryptonite.
It's not. Busoshoku allows you to strike a Logia's body, but it doesn't negate their powers, like Kairoseki would.
Huh, well, Robin said that in the scan I read and she said armaments haki which is Kenboushoku. I guess it's wrong/badly translated or something?
I knew that Franky rampaging in Chopper body wasn't a coincidence. Chopper will be of great help now… (maybe after he will be able to move again). Meanwhile no one will find him in the bag

Maybe there's something more to Caesar's Gas Gas ability, if Luffy is immune to poison, there's no way he will be collapsing from the poisoning and became unconscious. My guess is that Caesar can change into different type of gases and if it's true, then Caesa is able to change the gas to a different type and renders Luffy's unconscious.

Armament haki is Busoushoku.
Can someone answer me this?Where did we see a connection between Luffy's and Law's hearts or at least something that has to do with the hearts of the two?

Nah, I don't think Dragon is that kind of guy. He's looking to appeal to people's sense of justice and their feelings rather than taking over the WG by sheer force. He's amassing an army, to be sure, but in his place any sensible guy would. There's no toppling this monster without using some force.
What interests me, however, is the position of Caesar himself. He hasn't been showed to have any other motive for making an immensely powerful and deadly weapon than revenge, and while this doesn't mean that there was nothing else we simply know nothing of, I'm developing a theory about Joker or whomever it is that is collaborating with him only using him for some devious plot of a much bigger scale. Whom Joker really works with is sadly beyond my guessing skills right now.
Huh, well, Robin said that in the scan I read and she said armaments haki which is Kenboushoku. I guess it's wrong/badly translated or something?
I think it's translated a little misleadingly. I also think that she is rather drawing a parallel between one of the effects that kairoseki has and the effect that armaments haki has. Because in the next sentence she explicitly points out the difference in that kairoseki also disables them to use their powers.
Maybe it was just plain and simple sleeping gas? Like how his minions have used at the start of the arc.
The unknown guy is Sabo!
Can someone answer me this?Where did we see a connection between Luffy's and Law's hearts or at least something that has to do with the hearts of the two?
It's only a theory that people are drawing conclusions from. The theory claims that Law had to take some extra steps(like a heart transplant or whatever) to save Luffy from his deadly injuries sustained during Marineford war.
Nah, I don't think Dragon is that kind of guy.
Not Dragon himself no, doesn't seem to be his style.
But just as the WG has their Spandam's and their Garp's, the revlolutionaries probably have their share of self-serving bastards as well
Maybe it was just plain and simple sleeping gas? Like how his minions have used at the start of the arc.
But the way Luffy's expression when he is unconscious looks like he's being drugged or put to exhaustion, he had saliva drooling out of his mouth.

The most simple solution would be that CC just pushed the air out of Luffy's lungs with rather heavy gas. That'd be broken, but pretty smart as everybody has to breath and we all know what a lack of oxygen can cause. This would also make him a terrific opponent, because you basically have a strong time limitation to beat him.

Hmmm, that makes sense.

Probably, yeah. It is the perfect opportunity for the anti-government minded people who still yearn for power of their own after all. The only problem is just that Dragon and most of the revolutionary top dogs like Iva would strictly condemnd such cruelty and possibly deal with the perpetrator themselves. It's not an environment where you'd like to be doing anything as risky as that. There is a possibility that Joker has connections to the revolutionaries, though, so who knows. That'd be an astounding way to make the plot even darker and more complicated than it already is.
It's just that, you know, Akainu's and/or the WG's leaders mentalities (especially that of some world nobles) seem more suitable for involvement in this. Ahh, all the different possibilities~

That'd be a very awesome and clever use of the ability. CC could have easily overlapped with Magellan in what his powers can do but instead, he has his own unique style and can use his abilities not just to poison people but in amazingly clever ways taking full advantage of them. It goes to show just how creative Oda can be with his powers.
arigato for the chappy and trans!!

I agree, if Oda decides to play around with chemics Ceasar might very well have one of the deadliest attack arsenals in the OP world. He could alter the composition of the air to render bullets useless (as they could ignite an explosion), kill masses within seconds, he could even cause illusions.
I love the chapter. Sanji going into a freezing and (I believe) poisoned lake, Luffy and Law are currently down and are potentially connected and it can't be Cesar to bring Luffy down as it would contradicts the earlier statement of Luffy's immunity to poison. Also Mystery Man appearing before Law and knowing who he is. All that and a cliffhanger with a two week break.
My favorite part was Luffy's face in this panel:
!
This chapter, man. I want more.
Luffy and Law I think are experiencing different things. Law is holding his heart, and spitting blood. Luffy is holding his jacket, near his throat as if he can't breath, or is choking. I don't know if what they are going through is related, but my guess is it's not. Luffy was bested by carelessness, and Law was bested by being unaware of the unknown man. Luffy is unconscious, and Law is in extreme pain, unable to do anything. So that's my stance for now. Their situation is unrelated. Lufffy will most likely get up soon, and resume Act 2 of his fight with Ceaser with more caution.
Now as to who this guy is, it could be the Joker guy. People on the island can also use Den Den Mushi's. I mean, Rock and Scotch used them to contact those fodder guys. It's not unrealistic to think it's Joker, or that he was in the vicinity of the island to begin with. If it is him, my guess he's always been on the island since, (at least since) the SH's have arrived. I don't think it's Kuzan. It's possible, maybe? … Or it's someone we have never met, other than this Joker guy.
That aside, Luffy was impressive this chapter. Even though he was careless, it seems as if he'll be able to defeat Ceaser if he's more cautious in the next round, easily. I'm surprised that Franky and Robin are just spectating though. Anyways, with Robin's vast knowledge of what haki is, I really hope she knows how to use one of the forms. Observation if anything else.
About Luffy being down by poison, there are plenty of other more deadlier non-poison gasses that could take Luffy down, Ceasar himself said he shouldn't be compared to Magellan.
