@Thousand:
I can relate. I get all my music info from him like I get all my political info from Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert (to be fair, I don't get the channels like Fox and CNN that you guys do). I just don't have the energy to look up and research that sort of stuff. For what it's worth, I think I've become more appreciative of music since I started watching Todd. I've become addicted to Ceelo Green and Katy Perry lol
I'm the exact opposite, the radio is pretty much always on in my car, usually to the pop stations so one thing that really attracted me to Todd was how I knew pretty much everything he was talking about. That and he's awesome. He did convince me to try to be more of a critical thinker and learn more in regards to music since he always expressed his opinions so well. Although I noticed he and I actually have pretty similar opinions on music for the most part, most of the songs he put it in his top ten best lists were ones I enjoyed listening to and the ones he put it in his top ten worst lists were ones I didn't care at all for.
I sort of agree on Adele being overrated though, not because she's bad or anything, I think she's very talented but I get a bit annoyed that pretty much all of her songs are about the exact same thing. I was really happy to see Kanye West's All of the Lights so high on his list though, that song kicked so much ass and really cemented me as a Kanye fan.
As for Glee, I don't hate Glee as much as most people do. Don't get me wrong I think the show is complete crap but for me the show started out as something I casually watched and mildly enjoyed in the first season and I didn't really know anything about the horrors that would await in the second and third season. So I didn't know much about the show other than something I occasionally watched and liked as a sort of guilty pleasure and then I started hearing heaps of criticism piled on it by various critics I knew who absolutely loathed the show. After hearing so much hate for the show it became difficult for me to feel the same amount of anger because I didn't have the same perception as everyone else, since most of the time the critics were generally talking about the second and third season and not so much the first season which is the "best" season. My point is, it's a crap show but I just can't bring myself to dislike it as much as everyone else and I honestly find myself just sort of amused by the anger other people feel towards it. It's the good kind of amused the kind where I think "Yeah You Go! Tear that show down a peg because it really deserves it!"
I will say that I did watch a random second season episode once when I was in the mindset of "Glee's not that bad, I don't know what people are talking about!" You'll probably be happy to know the episode proved me very wrong. Since that was the episode which was almost entirely about the characters getting drunk. No. Seriously. At least two thirds of the episode was the kids getting drunk and later vomiting on stage in front of the school. It was crap and really convinced me that people had good reason to dislike this show.
I also totally agree on Todd about Gotye's song being very good and Fun's song being meh to decent. I would like We Are Young a lot more if the "Tonight We Are Young and We'll Set the World On Fire" part didn't go on and on and on. It sort of took me out of the song on the whole. I'm very excited to hear that according to Todd the both of them have many more songs that are really good because I was wondering myself if they had anything more going for them. He said Fun was heavily influenced by Queen which is always good since Queen is probably my favorite band. I should probably check both of those guys out, in fact I'll do that right now.
Sorry for typing so much. I just get excited when I get to talk about Todd and the music I like.
PS. Will Smith month is shaking up to per-ee-ty awesome.
