@The:
don't be a misogynist.
Huh?
I think you got the wrong person to address that. :S
Its true though, they wasted a lot of time and effort in someone who does not even listen to their opinion. The person who was banned gained a lot more than what those who argued against him lost.

Time and effort, going on and on on a circling argument that you already know has no end. Isn't that stupidity?
Since when did I say I hate women? :S

And off goes one of this year's nominations for chew-outs.

Any suggestions based on my ranking will be very much appreciated. -
Based on where you put the sports manga in your list, i'd recommend Hajime No Ippo.
It's very long though. (approaching 1000 chapters) -
Berserk is an amazing manga that seems to suit your tastes. Also, I'd recommend Gintama as a hilarious and awesome manga (Or you could watch its amazing anime adaption which covers all the parts of the manga we don't have translated yet)

For a long time I only followed naruto, one piece and bleach so I haven't read that many manga as yet but here is my short list. I have just started beelzebub but it's too early to include
top tier: one piece, toriko,
next tier: hunter x hunter, death note
Next tier: fairy tail, naruto
bottom tier: bleach, dragon ball (can't stand why it's so popular - it's mind numbingly repetitive and no story)

All the series you listed save Death Note are super repetitive and have thin stories.
Critisizing Dragonball for this is like complaining that a Ramones song is too short and simple. You're completely missing the point.

your being too harsh. He's only read those manga so it's obvious that his list is going to be full of holes. And I'm sure he meant DBZ, not DB. Because quite frankly, there is nothing more repetitive than DBZ, at least not in comparison to the other series he mentioned (save bleach, bleach is bad)
-
Dragon ball just goes from training to fight, training to fight with no actual story line.I found it interesting in the beginning except for the fact that Goku had no real challenge for a long time. I just got sick of the constant battles. One piece has plenty of storyline and I cant see how it is repetitive. I think most of those I've listed have at least some difference throughout the story. Yes all shonen have battles but they are dealt with in different ways to make it more interesting. I admit my lack of experience may show through as when I read my first new manga (fairy tail) after sticking to naruto, bleach and one piece I thought it was a very good manga and now I see there are much better. I still don't think my opinion on dragon ball will change an inch though. I am looking for new mangas but it is hard to find good ones so I'm looking at the most popular at the moment

We're talking Manga ain't we? There is no difference between DB and DBZ, they're the exact same comic book.
The fact that you don't know that means you really shouldn't be yakking about it.And why would limited experience mean anything regarding Dragonball?? If anything limited experience would make somebody love Dragonball more.

This is true of all those fighting shonen. They just mask it better. Dragonball keeps it out in the open. And unlike Bleach it has no delusions of grandeur.
Go back to my comparison to a Ramones song. You know the Ramones? You are expecting everything wrong about it, complexity does not equal superiority. Dragonball is simple minimal kung-fu fun that MADE most of these cliches in the first place. If you expect more than that of course you're going to be let down.I found it interesting in the beginning except for the fact that Goku had no real challenge for a long time. One Piece is incredibly repetitive lol. Do you not see the formula? Even after like 600 chapters? This is the reality of shonen.

Honestly, I still think dragonball has a lot of flaws that its fans gloss over as irrelevant. It isn't bad by any means, but I could never really get that into it. I guess it depends on where you set your priorities in manga, but I just couldn't get into many of the things it did. To me, a lot of the characters were kind of boring and a lot of the humor didn't appeal to me. I can appreciate what it did influence wise and for how it shaped series like One Piece, but I always found One Piece a lot more fun than Dragonball. In my mind, One Piece took what was good about Dragonball and cut out many of the flaws. I hated how you get all the good guys doing tons of training for the inevitable part where only the saiyans and maybe Piccolo are useful. It also had too many tournament arcs. And I honestly dislike how episodic its arcs were, with pretty much zero overarcing storyline. THe power scales got kind of messed up as you went on, and power levels were really dumb. Dragonball never tried to be anything complex, and its goodat what it wanted to be, but to me what it wanted to be was just too simple

Hunter x hunter is repetitive with a thin story do tell?

So did the Ramones. You really can't think too hard about Dragonball.
Though I'd say after Namek things definitely went way down hill. But everything before that is like the purest white shonen snow.
Getting all excited about the twists and embelshments One Piece and HXH put on the formula….don't forget the formula! It's the bedrock, and DB is the purest experience of that just pure fun shonen has to offer.--- Update From New Post Merge ---

Hunter X Hunter alternates between typical shonen and really fucking weird left turns when Togashi drops acid.
The story is definitely thin though, that part is inarguable. It's a an adventure story about a kid looking for his dad and wanting to be the best, fun and thin. The only one playing at some real heavy themes and so forth that he listed is Death Note, and even Death Note barely dives into it's own bucket of worms.
