It's fairly obvious he is stronger physically, and can take more damage. Offensively it's a toss up.

Most fans can tolerate that a side character has a wacky fruit (just be reminded of Tsuru´s Woshu Woshu No Mi) but having a crewmate who is practically involved in the fights all the time eat an useless fruit would piss some people really off (i wouldn´t care actually). What i hope for though is that one of the SHs (practically either Usopp or Nami) gets a weapon with a DF, for example, it could be possible in the Vegapunk Arc where we will get to know everything about the DF.

Mainly because Usopp is the most "realistic" member of the crew and thats why I like him.
It is true. Out of all the Strawhats, Usopp is the only one we saw before he became a fighter. Even Nami had some close quater skills and experience at fighting. While Usopp taught himself how to shoot, he had no close-quarter fightign skills and no experience. Unlike the others, we first meet Usopp when he was a village boy. Even Vivi had more fightign skills/experience when first seen by readers. We literally have watched as Usopp grew from a simple village boy to a warrior.
Really its no wonder why many fans do like Usopp, he fits the role of the classic storybook character of a simple village boy who sets out on adventure and gets into many misadventures but endures and learns from his travels, at one point finds a older mentor (often eccentric) that teaches him actual fighting skills then sends the boy back out into the wide world without the mentor to act more like a warrior and gain a reputation as strong and legendary warrior.

Sorry, but Usopp always being the weakest member is kinda of part of his character. Nami is definitely weaker physically, but her abilities are far more destructive than Usopp's.

Nami has a weapon that can plunge the entire world into chaos, she still is and always will be above Usopp. Usopp is the weakest as that is staple in the series, but he is certainly not useless.
Nami usually doesn't get involved with 1vs1's unless she has to. Her not fighting a Fishman Officer means absolutely zilch.
There are a few elements to the series that keep things in balance, one of those is Usopp always being the weakest no matter who joins the crew, as stated by Oda himself.

Okay, but your arguments are still weak. Fighting a Fishman Officer and stopping a landslide aren't exactly proof of strength. Lightning and cyclones are just more destructive than plants.

I could see Nami eating a Devil Fruit, albeit one that doesn't have that much of an impact on her skills, but just enough so that she stays above Usopp. Honestly at times it does seem weird that Oda says Usopp is the weakest when it seems that Usopp's sniping skills could be more valuable than Nami's weather skills. Obviously since the timeskip the scale of strength has been a bit uneasy, however right now it seems the two are just about equal.
Along with that I would like to see Nami get some more fights, so maybe a Devil Fruit could give her an advantage. I could see her eating one if they found the fruit in the beginning of the arc and she was deadset on selling it, knowing its worth. Of course, during the climax she would accidentally eating it in a sad twist of irony.

Okay, I think you guys are seriously underestimating Usopp. I'd compromise for "AS strong as Nami", but he's certainly not weaker. If we want to put them in a scale, it shouldn't be one per rank. The "weakling trio" and the "monster trio" are the only clearly defined rankings among the crew, along with "Luffy is the strongest".

Everybody acknowledges Usopp's main strength to be his marksmanship and versatility, but that doesn't mean that he's more powerful than Nami, the girl that has control over natural disasters. She's the one that is being truly underestimated here.

That has nothing to do with who's more powerful.
In fact, some of the stuff Nami does with her weapon are due to her own knowledge of the weather. Usopp himself admits here that he didn't design the Clima-Tact to perform Thunderbolt Tempo, for instance.

Oda also states that this is because Usopp is the closest in strength to a regular human compared to the others and thus this portrayal can be easily related to by the average person's own strength".
