i'd like that, god knows he's an annoying character :)
Chapter 400 "Key of Liberation" Discussion

then japanese kids are more mature than american kids, all the crap they cut out of the dub version can fill the grand canyon.
No they aren't; american parents are just a lot more panicky than Japanese parents.
If you really look at the demographics, what kids see on TV really has almost nothing to do with what kind of people they end up being. Japanese parents understand that, American parents do not
This is within reason, of course. I would not show a five year old, say, the move of "The Untouchables."
-
A random tought.
Maybe Luffy and Chopper will eventually meet and be together, right before the Gate of Justice, face to face with Lucci and Spandam.
Then Spandam tells Lucci to hold them while he crosses the gate.Luffy manages somehow to make Chopper cross the gate and finds himself vs Lucci alone, and Chopper keeps chasing Spandam in Impel Down etc = New Arc.
…maybe a tad too much?
-
It was fine, until you said "new arc".
-
all of bw crews also get "locked", is there any master key that can unlock all of that kairouseki?
if this kairouseki is as hard as diamond … zoro can improve his power by cutting it.
it looks like everybody already has their opponent, if this is as any common manga, then the fight will be showed one by one, but if not, maybe their fight will not be exposed, but only ruffy who go after robin will be exposed. after he saved robin, then one by one of strawhats will catch ruffy and give him the key. -
Spandam is taking Robin to Marine HQ not Impel Down. Franky was the one to be sent to Impel Down.
Other than that i second Phlemingo: Nice theory until you said "new arc"
And Zoro cutting seastone is a real possibility, hell i laughed a lot when someone created the "Mihawk Shackles Company" (or something like that)
-
Question: Did Zoro even try to cut the seastone bars when he was trapped in Crocodile's Cage?
As for seastone cuffs, I can concieveably see some superpowerful guy making them all day to pass the time. Like Mihawk and his "Seastone Cuffs, Inc.". XD
-
Seeing as how he couldn't even cut metal, uh, I'd say no.
-
Hmm, wouldn't like to see Zoro cutting seastone, since it would ruin the whole point of getting the keys in first place. And, if he really can hear the breath of all things, why not of seastone? Just as well have Nami pick the lock. Also, it isn't really a useful combat ability, it's not like his next opponent is going to be wearing seastone armor, is it? (now, there's an idea for a fanfic character…)
-
@Fire Fist Ace
When jailed by Croc Zoro complained he wasn't strong enough to cut those bars and said he needed to get stronger. -
what about chopper?
I only have an idea, why he don't fight one of CP9, cuz he's way too weak against tekkai. luffy has defeated blueno, he'll continue with lucci, and zoro and sanji will do either. Nami's weather attacks like lightning will sure surpass tekkai, same goes for usopp's impact dial.
chopper just fights with his body and his body's too weak. Poor chopper, I#d like to see him fight :(… but where did he go? .... :/
-
I think its too early for Zoro to be cutting Seastone. If it is harder than diamond then its probably the hardest material in the One Piece world and seen as the story is just over half way I reckon it will be kept for later.

When Zoro first realized about the "breaths," didn't he say something to the order of "now the question is am I strong enough to cut steel?" Maybe Zoro can sense the breath of the seastone, but just doesn't have the physical strength yet to cut through it.

what about the poneglyphs, maybe they're much harder than diamond ?

Don't forget that after beating Mr1, before down he ask him (mr1) about his next move: "what will you try to cut next? will you cut diamond?" zoro respond him that this will be a waste of time and then crumbeled. so it isn't a matter for zoro now to cut steel, diamond or anything else, the more important is to provide the same "aura" as if he's about to die, 'cause he realised that his sences grows much when he's near death.

As far as i know, the Poneglyphs are made of the hardest substance in OP. Don't know, however, what that substance is …
Remember what that marine said in Robin's flashback? Something like: "Even if we threw bombs at it, it wouldn't even scratch it". -
dear kudou:
zephray at msn 2 has stolen your script and made a half ass scanlation.
-
Zephray is an Arse at tv.com
in any case, poneglyphs are most likely the hardest substance. But there is a way to scratch them, otherwise the ancient language wouldn't be carved onto them.

But he cut steel on occasions where he was unharmed, also. Right now I like the idea of him not being strong enough.
-
Did anyone PM kudou? He might not see that. Zephray really is an ass.
-
Well, just in case, I'll pm him right now.

Hey thanks for the link, Zoro's last line wasn't bad IMO, in fact he seemed to be talking about Kitetsu.
At any rate, I just want to know the group that scanlated chapter 397-400, cuz I'm planning on DLing the remaining chapters once March starts. -
Speaking of sea stone, isn't the cloud sea are made of some amalgamation of seastone particles with the clouds, or is it the cloud island. Conis father explained something like this if I'm not mistaken.
-
Notice how Paulie's left out. :(
…that kinda saddens me ;__; but wasn't he helping out w/ the bridge? I'm not sure what went on after that was done.
-

As I understand it, both contain seastone to some extent, but the amount of seastone present within a particular cloud determines whether it's land cloud or sea cloud.
-
Hmm I have a thought, Franky just has to use some mind tricks and run into the messhall and his most likly got some access to the cola right? So that means he will probley end up wasting the CP9 member his got…sorry if it's been put up but I really can't be bothered to go through the 48 pages I havn't read while I've been away...
Also to whoever put up the link the the translated scanlations, cheers!

-
When Zoro said "that would be a waste" I took it like cutting diamonds is waste (which it is) and not as like he couldn't do it.
-
so…where's chopper >_>
and Zoro in that last frame is just pure evil, I like it : ) -
That would be great if a "dark Zoro" appear ^^
Think of the Kitetsu's curse … Maybe it wanna possess Zoro ^^
(Like Ichigo and his hollow-side ) -
First, I don't think this kind of stuff fits OnePiece story-wise.
Second, Zoro has an incredibly strong will. Just see the guy training, any alter-ego would have a ****load of problem becoming the dominant personality. -
Zoro is bad ass enough on his own. He is in part pretty evil, when it comes to times like this. So, he would not need any alter ego.
-
For the scanlation group, are you talking about me or narutoandichigo on the other page? I scanlated everything from 397-400, if that's what you wanna know.
And I started at 399 (first chapter that I found that had a translation that the translator would allow me to use for scanlations):

Sorry, but the idea seems too… cliche.

GAH! NO PLZ.

I agree, it just doesn't fit one piece, it works fairly well in bleach, but I doubt kitetsu would be that powerful.
-
Never knew that was cliche. Was that common in most Shonen like Sakua and Vegeta? Just asking cuz I'm not a shonen expert
-

Yes. Unbelievably yes. It shonen, American action work, British action work, mudfish action work even.
The idea was cliche'd the minute they drew the first cave painting :P

It even appears in harem manga/anime Love Hina -_-

Still….Darth Zoro? He could have a kick-ass mask like Vader did. Imagine Vader's face with a bush of green hair on top of it....If I wasn't too lazy a couple of minutes with MSPaint would have produced the toughest and evilest madafaka the world of OP has ever seen :)

Hehe, Star Wars/OP Crossover? Sounds cool.

Nah, I think darth Usopp would nice. He lost the ship and he got in a fight with a captain. Sounds so Star War 3

Gah… I'm against anything that could make OP clichÃ, such as "Roger being Luffy's grandfather", Zoro having a dark, blood-thirsty side. Not to say that Oda couldn't introduce it, since we can count on him to make it look fresh and original, but it would still be very OOC for Zoro, as well as a copy of Bleach/Naruto/all those shonen which aren't up to OP standards.

I dunno, I'd say there's a fair shot at Roger having been Luffy's grandfather
-
I dunno, I'd say there's a fair shot at Roger having been Luffy's grandfather
The way I understood the dialog between Aokiji and the strawhats in comparison to the Robin flashback, it's like Jaguar D. Sauro/Saul having been Luffy's grandfather.
Especially this sentence:
Aokiji: You see… I owed your grandfather a "favor" once, years ago…
The reason I'm here is just to take a look at Nico Robin… and you.
And I think... You ought to die now.Kuzan owed Sauro/Saul a "favor". He let Robin survive, which was in some way the last wish of Sauro. And Aokiji speaks of Luffy and Robin in the same way, like their friendship was somehow fate...
I think that sentence in the Aokiji dialog wants to show us the connection between Sauro and Luffy. However, Sauro is a giant and Luffy a normal human... But it's One Piece. :D And I think it would be great, if Sauro was Luffy's grandfather and Robin doesn't know that at all. But it feels like fate, you know.
Okay, that's not the right thread for theories like that and maybe someone stated it once before, but I just wanted to say that here and now. ^^
-
Kuzan owed Sauro/Saul a "favor". He let Robin survive, which was in some way the last wish of Sauro. And Aokiji speaks of Luffy and Robin in the same way, like their friendship was somehow fate…
Except that the scenario doesn't play out like Kuzan was repaying Sauro for a favor by letting Robin go, but that Kuzan let her go because he was disgusted by the Navy's destruction of the Evacuee Ship.
The way I interpret it is that Aokiji wanted to check in on the two and despite his original inclination to let the Straw Hats go, he instead decided to kill them regardless of personal feelings in the matter.
However, when Luffy was ultimately at his mercy, Aokiji let him go to repay a debt. Whether that was repayment for the debt that he owed Luffy's grandfather or in return for Luffy beating Crocodile is open to debate.
I also wonder why Aokiji wouldn't comment on the similarities of the two situations if Sauro was indeed Luffy's grandfather. It would be an odd coincidence if he took down a grandfather and grandson while both were defending Nico Robin and you would think that he'd say such.
-

No, I don't think so.
Check this sentence from chapter 397:
Kuzan: …complete and unyielding justice... can turn a man to madness sometimes.
...I've decided to let you escape from this island...
To see what Sauro's little "seed" will grow up to be...Looks like Kuzan wanted to know, why Sauro was defending Robin! So he fulfilled Sauros last wish by himself. It doesn't have anything to do with the Evacuee Ship, if you ask me.
But why should Oda let Aokiji mention Luffy's grandfather, if Aokiji just wanted to look after Nico Robin? Doesn't look like coincidence to me...
However. It's just a thought. ^^
-
I dont remember Aokiji saying he owed Luffy's grandfather a favor. Here's what I remember about the grandpa…
http://groups.msn.com/OnePieceMangav-2/onepiecechapter319.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=1404
And if you go to the next page, Aokiji sys he dealth with Luffy's grandfather a long time ago.As for the favor…
http://groups.msn.com/OnePieceMangav-2/onepiecechapter321.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=1475
So I see the favor as the Crocodile incident, as well as the mystery stupid thing Smoker said. -

Hmmm, the sentence "I owed your grandfather a "favor" once, years ago…" is from Stephen... Look there.
