@RobbyBevard:
If only it weren't for Tagashi's track record we might be getting excited right now instead of worried.
Great way to put it
Mortea, why the "haha" and arrow at that object in the map pic? im sure it's some joke but i dont get it

you can see places that appear in anime's opening. Makes me really rethink everything. How much is planned, does he want us to notice it, or doesn't care, and most important for me - the description of Hunter from beginning. Special people, drawn to the mystery.
Actually, that reminds me. There was that one scene of Killua crying at the end of the ending that was very like the scene that later on came in the manga when Illumi confronted Killua.
It's almost as if the openings and endings include important scenes from the story to present an idea for what the consumer can expect to see by watching it
!
I wonder if this is from the outside the world http://www.mangareader.net/207-14075-8/hunter-x-hunter/chapter-66.html.
@Fire Fist:
Someone else who actually read Trigun Maximum? I thought I was alone in the world… the Razlo/Livio vs. Wolfwood fight was the greatest thing ever and I thought I was utterly alone. You're my hero, GM.
Regarding HxH, at this point, I think there's either going to be a timeskip or the story is going to switch PoV. Gon is barely ready for the regular world; for him to go into some HxH version of the Gourmet World right away would be absurd. I can imagine it flashing forward as much as 10 years, which would give Leorio time to get his medical license, Gon time to train, Cheadle time to rebuild the Hunter Association after Hisoka slaughtered a whole mess of hunters, and Hisoka and Illumi time to plot. Plus, it would also give Chrollo time to rebuild the Ryodan and Jairo time to amass an army.
That fight was indeed awesome and Razlo/Livio made a great replacement to wolfwood plus his fight against the crimson nail was fucking awesome. I honestly believe that Trigun x Trigun
Maximum is far better than the anime that is very loosely baised on it.
Now with ppl finding all of these findings from early HxH chapter it could be that togashi did have this all planned out from the beginning. I don't see him ending it like he did with YYH since with YYH he was trying to get the series to go another route but instead got irritated with his editor who was trying to keep his series pigeon holed.

If you look to the left of the world tree on that map, it looks like there's the silhouette of that beast.
I see Maxim as well in that map.

I just found the snowman and face funny.
Why do those giants in the corner remind me of Nausicaaa's Giant Warriors?

I'm going to third the motion of trigun the manga being amazing. I can see where people dislike how the 3rd quarter is just repetitive and dark and grinding you down, but I think that was the point. Vash's life sucks, and you really feel his weariness.
anyway, on-topic, I'd like to see HxH continue, and to expand upon this whole new world, but I wonder how feasible it is, considering we've had only 338 chapters in 14 years. It does not run at a fast pace. At least, not anymore.
I'm curious as to what parts Togashi will cover from that area.
Personally before the series gets there I think we might get a change in lead character roll and get switched back to Kurapika which would be nice and have it start at around the same time as the election to see what he was doing giving us readers a explanation of why he couldnt make it.
With Killua going to do his own thing could this mean that Leorio could become the replacement
I think a timeskip may happen. Gon has enormous potential, but he needs to be on top of this world to "safely" go outdoors. Age 20-24 at least. For a fourteen year old kid to go there is a bit too much (if he goes there "next year") for me to cope up with.
So I think a few adventures will happen in inside lands to make new plotlines for future, connection or reasons to go out there, apart from simply adventuring.
I still can't get still after this news. It's important how you handle your story - after all, everything was already written. You just give the old twists under new viewpoint. It's pretty fresh (at least for me) - 99% of the planet are managed to be kept hidden from world's population in a world that has net and iphones, and they still stand in the position of ancient civilizations, believing that the area they explored is the whole world, not knowing about overseas.
And talking about cameos - that hand on the horizon is pretty Berserk.
I see the moon from majorie's mask …
...and isengard.
That snowman made me smile.

Screenshot from Super Mario Galaxy. I think I remember reading about shadow giants like that in some myth… I'll have to dig around.

I just saw the hand…after seeing so many things pointed out that could be from other Manga I'm starting to wonder if it was deliberate.
Berserk
Nausicaa
YuYuHakusho
One Piece
and probably more.

. I have never played that game
^^^^If you have a Wii, Mario Galaxy is kind of a must own. Or at least one of the Galaxy twins. I never got the sequel but I hear it's liked more than the original. I still feel kind of jipped that the closest thing we got to a direct Mario 64 sequel was Sunshine (still a good game though)
I forgot about the SMG giants, I was leaning more toward Majora's Mask giants. The giants in SMG are supposed to have eerie names in the coding of the game, google "neogaf mario galaxy giants", a thread talking about them should pop up
In YYH the demon world eventually became open to the human world (end of the series) and for a few chapters we saw humans and demons getting used to this idea. I wonder if Togashi will elaborate on that and have whatever this new world is, crossover with the current HXH world
Those giants are like the giant of the First Impact in Evangelion. So cool.
The new episode of Hunter X Hunter is out and I must admit it's quite a nice ending to the arc.
What I forgot about was that Satotsu said that his dream was to meet and thank Gin. I wonder if that one line from about 12 years ago will have any relevance but that's only small juxtaposed to the fact that I cannot for the life of me comprehend the recent chapter. I mean the dream team is not only segregated but now utterly broken up, Gon casually achieved his ulterior motive for the entire series and there's a huge cliff hanger I can't really classify as either an arse pull, jumping the shark or one of the most ambitious cliff hangers I've read in a long time. Now all they need to do is have a gnarly adventure in NOT-Japan with Hanzo and this series has made up for Anticlimactica 2012 - Election Edition.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Oh don't worry about the Satotsu remark, just picked up my manga copy and realised they changed the scene to dance around that Kite scene.
Listen Madhouse, you only have one more window of opportunity to add in the chapter one flashback and that is when Gon and Killua go home after the Tower arc. Miss that up and I have no idea where to put it without looking forced and out of place.

What the difference between the new HxH compared to the Old one? Is it just like Dragon ball Kai?

It's redone, not just reedited the way Kai is. The original HxH was darker more gritty. The new version appears to have a little less filler though. I still don't quite care for the way Killua looks in the new one, he's a tad too fluffy imo. Other minor changes like coloring of some characters was a bit different. Hisoka not having blue hair at the beginning for example.

The only character I think should look more like his manga counterpart so far is Kurapika. His hair looks like a blond haired version of myself in middle school rather than Togashi drew him early on in the manga.
What's the problem with Madhouse? That was the perfect scene to show the Kaito flashback.
It's almost like they don't want him in the anime…
I guess we'll only see the flashback after he appears by the end of Greed Island.

I don't know if the original HxH anime was grittier. There are a few scenes that are definitely more explicit than in the Madhouse version, but I actually feel like the first 33 episodes or so are mostly "darK" because of their color palette. Also, Hisoka's blue hair is an anime-only thing; I don't think Togashi has ever drawn Hisoka with blue hair (though he has with green and red).
The two versions mostly differ in their characterization. All of the characters in the new series are a lot closer to how they are in the manga. Both shows are pretty good though.

So you know how Gon and Killua go to Whale Island after Heavens Arena? There's a sequence in the manga in which Gon takes Killua directly to the spot where he met Kite for the first time. Moving the flashback there might be a good idea because it gives Gon a chance to personally explain to Killua how much Kite means to him.
The new series usually covers two chapters an episode. After chapter 64, there's two chapters in which Gon learns about Ging–I definitely think that Madhouse will cover those two in a single episode. So it might work better with the pacing if only chapter 64 is covered in one episode alongside Gon's past. Although I've started to entertain the idea that Gon might not even know Kite yet in the Madhouse version. He'll definitely appear eventually, since he shows up in the intro to every episode.
EDIT:
I retranslated the newest chapter. Hopefully it will make more sense to you all. Just a quick note–this is NOT to be used in ANY scanlation.
! HxH Chapter 339: Up Timber
Editor: Ging is waiting…at the peak?!
! Killua: Maaaan! It's so tall!
Gon: They don't call it the tallest tree in the world for nothing!
! 2.
Recorded Tour Guide: With a height measuring 1784 meters from the ground
This tree exceeds any structure mankind has built to this day.
Though legal to climb the tree, one must sign a contract before proceeding.
And although there is both an elevator and a staircase leading to the 500m point, one risks his life from thereon.
Around 3000 people attempt the challenge every year. However, 94% of climbers give up and return even before reaching 1000m.
As for those who continue, 4% have to call for help and pay a hefty sum to be rescued. Another 1% of climbers fall and lose their lives.
In other words, the number of climbers who can brave the tree to its peak and descend safely
annually totals to about only 30 people.
! Killua: Well, this is it.
Gon: Yeah.
Killua: Take care, k?
Gon: Yeah.
Killua…I still can't thank you enough!
Killua: It's cool, dude.
! 3.
Killua: Well…you did leave me out by saying "I'll take on that bastard myself."
Gon: Er
Killua: And I was pretty bummed when you said "this has nothing to do with you…"
Gon: Um
Sob! I'm so sorryyyyyyy!
Alluka: Brother!
Killua: Dude, you already said you were sorry!
And thanks to our travels, I've been reunited with Alluka again. You don't need to keep apologizing.
Oh, by the way. The one who fixed you is right here.
Gon: Wait, what?!
Is that true?!
What's with your timing, man?!
You shoulda told me earlier!
Killua: I can't exactly go around telling a lot of people.
The situation with my family is…complicated. Hey, c'mere for a sec.
Alluka, can you call Nanika for me?
Alluka: Sure.
Gon: Whoa.
Killua: His ability makes anything I wish for come true.
Gon: Anything…?!
Killua: Yeah; the ability is too amazing. Because of it, my family's kept them caged in our house this entire time.
But this guy was given the chance to leave–due to what happened to you.
And I've prepared to spend the rest of my life protecting him.
! 4.
Killua: In fact, we should be the ones thanking you!
Nanika: Aye.
Gon: What are you saying?!
I'm the same way! Thank you so much!
Even so…
If you stay any longer...
Killua: …You're right.
From this point forth, Alluka and I are gonna travel all over.
But I'll still mail you every now-and-then.
Gon: Yeah! Me too.
Killua: If anything happens, hit me up ASAP because I'll do the same.
Yeah, I'm counting on you. You still owe me…
Gon: Erm
Kite said the same thing! It doesn't matter where we are in life;
We're friends!!
Killua: You know it!
! 5.
Killua: Give your old man my regards.
Gon: Sure thing.
I really want you to come with me though!
Killua: But Alluka is here and you two haven't spent any alone time together yet. Next time.
Alluka: I'm going to hug my big brother by myself for awhile.
Please come back and play another time!
Killua: Now hold on a sec! I'm the one playing with you!
Isn't she cute? Sorry, but you lose to her.
Gon: Hahaha
…Yep!
Killua: Yep!
Gon & Killua: Well then…see you later!!
! 6.
Receptionist: You want to climb? Sorry, you have to be at least 18 to do that.
Unless you meet the requirements or there special circumstances in which you've been certified, I'm afraid…huh?
You're a Pro Hunter?! At this age?!
Dear me! My apologies!
Please, go ahead.
Oh, before I forget, please sign these documents.
Even the President would have to sign off on them!
Basically, they state that we are not liable for any injury or death resulting from the climb.
Let me give you some advice.
I don't think you should follow any trails left behind by former climbers as a linchpin.
The guys who can make it to the top do it using their bare hands.
There's actually a guy up top as we speak.
! 7.
Gon: Got it. Thanks!
Receptionist: Well, if you get in some trouble, push that.
(The caption pointing to the button on Gon's necklace reads: "that")
Our rescue team is the best. It only takes ten minutes for them to…
WHA?!
He fell!!
HEY!!
Gon: Sup?
Receptionist: ?!
He's already…
That far?!
! 8.
Gon: Phew~!
Got a long ways to go.
This bark is amazing! I can completely rely on my body to climb it.
The instant that my fingers touch it, I feel connected to the entire tree's life force.
! 9.
Gon: I've got this!
As long as I continue listening to the whispers of the wood…! [T/L Note: Gon is using a metaphor in this line. He means "As long as I continue following the growth of the wood…]
Climber: weakly Please…help...me.
Gon: Just a little more left.
?
The top looks weird.
! 10-11
Gon: Waugh!
Chick: CHIRP
Gon: They're huge! Didn't see that coming.
Ging: Yo.
I got sick of waiting.
Gon: Ging…!
! 12.
Ging: How long did it take you to get here from the 500m point?
Gon: Um
I think around twenty minutes?
Ging: Well, since it's your first time, I guess you pass.
Eat.
Gon: Yeah.
Wow!
Ging: Whatta view, right?
On cloudy days, it looks more like a sea.
Gon: Yeah.
Hey…Ging?
Ging: What's up?
Gon: Can I ask you something?
Ging: Sure. Might not answer tho.
! 13.
Gon: Ging, what exactly is it that you want? [T/L Note: Gon is referring to Ging's line as a child from chapter 65.]
Ging: Hmm….
Currently, I guess it's "something that I can't see in front of me."
When I first started thinking that I wanted to become a Hunter,
At the time,
Becoming a Hunter was the most practical way for me to enter the place I wanted to go.
Although the place was said to be a burial vault for a royal family,
Turns out they weren't the whole truth.
A trustworthy organization to boot. Moreover, I paid them outta my own pocket to investigate! It was one of those situations where I couldn't forgive 'em.
Truth was, they couldn't investigate in the first place.
Ain't too many guys out there that'd be foolish enough to invest a large sum without wanting to be credited or compensated.
But I thought the opposite–it was my chance.
If I was a Pro Hunter, I'd already be trusted and money wouldn't matter.
When I was 15, I established a nonprofit organization. We excavated and restored the King's tomb.
Since it was before I got that license you have there, I spent two years constantly reading the sites and blogs of archaeology maniacs. [T/L Note: Ging is referring to his Double-Star License.]
They were the type of nuts that operated under the M.O.: "I don't need any cash or credit; only the truth."
More importantly, I did it because I needed about 10 honorable people for the nonprofit that could keep their mouths shut and that I could trust.
! 14.
Ging: I live in the now and I'm always chasing after something that I need.
You just asked me "what I really want." To be honest, I couldn't care less about things like that.
You don't get it?
Fine, I'll talk just a little more.
I ended up hitting it off with the guys I met on the net after we met in person, despite them all being older than me.
They were all normal people working normal jobs. Office workers, grad students, freeters, etc.
When I told them about my background and my plans,
My colleagues were moved into action and started taking care of miscellany themselves. They even donated to me from their own living expenses, however small they were.
When my dream finally came true and I took my first step inside the King's tomb,
I was happy.
But not just because I finally discovered the truth of the King's tomb,
Rather, I was happiest during the moment we first entered, looked at the expressions on each other's faces, and shook hands–we'd done it.
! 15.
Ging: Because of the sacrifices those guys are still making for me even now, I've been given invaluable information.
Compared to my colleagues, learning the truth of the King's tomb was just a bonus.
It was then that I first learned…
That there are things more important than your own wants.
Gon: And now?
Ging: Hm?
Gon: What are you chasing after now?
Ging: Now, huh?
I guess I need to explain a little bit more.
Gon,
What do you think this tree is?
Gon: Huh? The World Tree, right?
Ging: Right?
OK, now how did the guide introduce it to you?
Gon: It's the tallest tree in the world, measuring 1784m in height.
Ging: OK.
Now, that isn't wrong per se.
! 16.
Ging: But the "truth" of this tree is…
It's a sapling that has stopped growing.
Gon: …
Huh?
Ging: It was malnourished.
So it's a World Tree that only grew this high.
The real World Tree…
Took root atop a mountain range...
Intakes magma for nutrition...
And has grown tall enough to exceed the atmosphere.
! 17.
Ging: And it's "Outside"
of this world.
Gon: "This" world…? I don't follow.
Ging: The world map that you know.
Those ants that you guys and the Chairman battled are a species indigenous to the Outside.
It's a "truth" that they don't teach you about in school.
Any adult with a shred of common sense
Wouldn't ever dare you to even touch Pandora's Box.
! 18-19.
Ging: "This world" that we all know
is only a mere portion
of an absurdly larger world.
Those who have been chosen
in certain ages and lands
have all gone there
and left a record behind through relics.
Gon: …
Ging: You get it?
What I wanted in the past and what I want now hasn't changed at all.
"Something I can't see in front of me": the unknown.
! Editor: He wishes to hunt…all the way to the world's very end!
Well I felt it was gritter, the color palletes and scenes like Gon vs. The Ninja who's name I'm forgetting for some reason…At any rate I preferred the older animation. I just felt it had more weight and emotion behind it.

Thank you lol. I don't know why I forgot his name.
@Mr.:
When Ging was a child, his own father took him on a long fishing trip. Ging's dad never returned, but Ging did. After which, he decided that he wanted to become a Hunter. I get the feeling that Ging's father took Ging to the Outside as a child, sparking his interest in finding the truth.
While the page you quoted is a pretty bad translation, there was never anything about Ging's dad taking him on a fishing trip. Just that after Ging left to take the Hunter exam, Mito's parents died in a traffic accident. Then, as if he was following them, Ging's dad never returned from a fishing trip (the "following" implying that he died). Never did anything ever say that Ging ever went on a fishing trip with his dad.
Translation of that page:
[hide]Grandma: Gin was the only son of my oldest son.
Mito was the only daughter of my second son.
Grandma: The ones that died in a traffic accident were Mito's parents.
(T/N: You may or may not remember, but Gon thought that his parents had died in an accident before he met Kaito)
Mito: It was right after Ging left the island . . .
Mito: On the trip they sometimes took once a year (they died).
Grandma: After that, Ging's father didn't return from his fishing trip, like he was following after them.
Mito: . . . That's right.
Mito: Everything happened after Ging left . . .[/hide]
After looking over the raw for the current chapter again . . . I'm thinking more on the world tree. Hmmm . . .
Put me down for a ticket on the 'Where did Leorio go?' bandwagon.
I'll save you a seat.

Yess this translation seem to fit really good with the panels. It cleared up a few things.
I honestly believe mad house is darker than the original anime. Come on we got to see that one guy get his head lopped off in a silhouette by hisoka during trick tower instead of just a scream. We got to see Geretta's dead body thrown next to gon after hisoka kills the guy instead of a STUPID FUCKING HAT
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
I honestly believe the only reason why ppl feel the older version to be more darker than the new is due to the fact that the older one has been around for quite some time and is somewhat nostalgic for ppl but just because it's nostalgic doesn't mean that it's good. The Nostalgia Critic taught me that

But I had only just seen the original a couple months ago lol. I actually like Hisoka wearing that guys hat and all the butterflies flocking to it. I dunno. I felt that was a bit more sinister in a way. But I guess I just have a preference for the older one. I don't think the new is bad, I just don't feel it as much as the older one. Maybe that'll change with the York Shin arc.
I beleive the next arc will give us an idea on how Madhouse will handle "dark" themes.
1999 version told me how censored it was once i saw the Kastro and Hisoka fight, that fight should have a been a whole episode. It showed how much of a badass Hisoka really is, but the 1999 version ruined that for me.

It's a ways off, but I'm just dying to see how they'll handle the ant arc.
My gripe with the anime (the reason I stopped watching it after the beginning of the exams) has been in the tone, and more specifically the music. I just don't get any sense of adventure that I got with the old anime. I felt like the music and sound was out of place with many of the scenes and it took me out of the moment.

Personally, I thought that fight was about 100x BETTER when we only had vague half second glimpses and snippets of it, and only saw the aftermath, like Gon hadn't seen it at all. Made Hisoka way scarier and kept his abilities mysterious for longer.
Then I saw the whole thing in the manga and while there was a sense of "oh, they cut out a lot here", it didn't really make the story any better to see that fight. Actually lost a little something seeing it in detail. What your mind makes up is usually stronger than what can be shown.
I bring it up a lot when that fight gets mentioned. But you really see the insanity and showmanship Hisoka has. Eating your own arm to freak out an opponent. One of my favorite moments lol. I wasn't terribly disappointed it wasn't fully shown. But the snipets they chose I thought was fine.

i don't get this nostalgia argument. for example, if you ask me what my second favorite series is after hxh i would say, "yuyu hakusho, but mostly for the nostalgia." by saying this, i admit that yuyu hakusho isn't really that great and it's only high-up in my list because i watched it and loved it as a kid. in short, nostalgia and appreciation of quality can exist side-by-side.
of course, there are people who are too biased against the 2011 series because they can't let go of the 1999 series, i'm just saying that the nostalgia argument doesn't solve anything (just an overgeneralization that dodges issues that matter more). the praise for the 1999 series isn't simply because of the nostalgia, but because it is by itself actually good.
in my case, when i watched the first anime for the second time (about four years after i first watched it), i thought it'd be another case of yuyu hakusho: something i loved before but will be prove to be not-so-great (but maybe still good) when i'm older. but alas, i loved it and appreciate it more with every viewing
It's a ways off, but I'm just dying to see how they'll handle the ant arc.
I can't wait for the Genei Ryodan arc. Greed Island I imagine will have similar tones and colors as this exam arc has had
Yorkshin is heavy on city settings, night time action, gritty mafia member screen time. Loved how it was handled by the old team

Well, I was talking more in the sense that I can't wait to see how they're going to handle two children being eaten alive (offscreen, but still, damn).
That was a really good translation, Mr.Toto. It had really good flow to it. And it made a lot more sense than the original translation.
I never had time this week to do a translation of that chapter, I'll just continue from next week I guess.
^^^^^^^^oh yeah. I cant wait for the break in moment

Big thx for translating it =) Clears some things up =)
Just wondering, what did Gon mean with this sentence:
! 4.
Killua: In fact, we should be the ones thanking you!
Nanika: Aye.
Gon: What are you saying?!
I'm the same way! Thank you so much!
Even so…
If you stay any longer…
Sounds like something would happen, if Killua wouldn't leave now O,o

The next arc is coming next episode i believe.. lol Yeah i can't wait for the Ant arc either.

Yeah i know what you mean, it's just that it was one of the fights i was looking forward to it animated. I just like how Hisoka was just playing with him throughout the fight.. It added more to his character IMO.

I think after Gon heard Killua's situation he was just giving him a heads up. I think it's a possibility that Killua might still be getting chased.. lol
Lets give predictions on Kurapicas comeback and see who comes closest to guessing right :)
Gon thought that his parents had died in an accident before he met Kaito
I just reread the first chapter and find that… very interesting.
So if Gon's mom is "dead", that would explain why he's no longer interested.
In fact, Gon didn't seem too interested in finding his dad until Kaito said, "He's a hard man to find since he's one of the best hunters in the world).
Also... because Ging can erase tapes from far away, doesn't that mean he's at least part materialization alignment?
Edit: I don't think Kurapica is coming back for a while, or rather, Leorio probably went to go punch him in the face and we'll see a chapter about it.
