I like how this is not just a casual trip to the moon. Sky battles are awesome.
My toughts exactly.
I thought this was a sweet chapter for both these reasons.

I used to consider this manga eccentric and silly, like Reborn. I didn't have much interest in it. However, it became exciting, after chapter 25 more or less. Characterization improved, themes were developed, and the plot became complex. The settings are still vague at the point I'm at (Chapter 49), but I'll remain optimistic for a while. Seeing that I have half the manga to catch up with, this manga will have me occupied for a few days.
BTW, I feel Black Star is exactly the same character as Naruto (pre-time-skip). I like how he's developed. Actually, the 3 protagonist technicians are like Team 7 (Naruto, Sakura, Sasuke), except for the emo/helplessness. But they have weapons who resonate well with their characters, and made the relationships more dynamic.
BTW, I feel Black Star is exactly the same character as Naruto (pre-time-skip)
Your missing something important here black star isn't simply the same character as Naruto hes a representation of the character type done extremely well, were as Naruto is a representation of the character type done wrong. also the rest of your comparison falls apart the only one that really works is Naruto/Blackstar the others is just grasping at arbitrary straws trying to make connections that aren't there.

It's hard to see the difference at first.
However, I saw Black Star maturing and becoming a warrior (also a complete badass), whereas Naruto got super-powers, and love and support, but still did not mature as a person. Whereas Naruto (and Sasuke) remained idealistically naive, Black Star at least has the emotional maturity of an adult.
In part 1, Naruto was motivated by his desire to surpass his rivals, to win Sakura's heart, and to become accepted by the village, as well as his own sense of justice.
Black*Star doesn't care about acceptance or anyone's love, his overwhelming motivation is to become the strongest in the world. I would argue that he doesn't even really care about justice, only protecting his friends.
They both act hyper, and often goof around, but BlackStar just does everything bigger and with even more energy. I'd argue that Naruto was a more complex character, while BlackStar is almost a walking archetype carried to the extreme.
Also, BlackStar is lauded as a prodigy, and was thought of as strong from the very start of the series, while Naruto was constantly told of his failings and had to work his ass off. It was a big deal when BlackStar thought he had become weak, but it was a big deal for Naruto to think that he had become legitimately strong.
They're somewhat similar characters, and both good, (at least in part 1 for naruto, ofc), but as Taokaka would say, "The difference is quite clear!"
I guess the difference is really just background. Black Star has Sasuke's background, while Naruto doesn't.
But I just finished Chapter 80, and FUCK I'm psyched! Noah, as a biblical reference, wants to collect everything, as in "Gotta Catch'em ALL!!!" got me laughing. He's a Pokemon trainer with all Ubers and legendaries, AKA a summoner. Since I'm not waiting for new chapters to come out, I don't complain about the "shallowness" of the characters (which I can't see in the flurry of chapter after chapter), it's just so much awesome.
Now I think about it, if I don't need to wait for the next chapters and such, it feels a lot better, and complaints are lessened. I guess the answer to feeling your best from manga is to read entire arcs in a sitting. Anyway, back to reading :3
Well, that was a quickly escalated chapter. New badguys pop out of nowhere and the battle is on. This is the battle to get to Kishin but I'm more interested in what's happening down on earth, specifically between Maka, Soul, and Crona. Something's wrong here. What happens when they do get to Kishin? They're not going to defeat him without Make and Soul are they? That'd mean the most hyped up villain in the series wasn't the final boss afterall and there's going to be an even greater threat. Unless the Kishin escapes of course. I just simply can't see the main baddie being defeated without the main character's involvement.
So they go straight to fighting scenes with absolutely no build up to these villains. At least their designs are cool.
Well, they are clowns, creations of Kishin after all. Background stories to entities that manifest pure insanity won't make sense in the first place.
Anyway, Crona vs Maka round 2 will be special.
Chapter 92 is out.
RUB THE LAMP…RUB THE LAMP!!! XD
GORILLA and CLOWNS...this is MADNESS...MADNESS!!!!
So, for the two Soul Eater Not guys to spend the entire chapter struggling with the clown and Stein to just one shot him… what was the point of that? Also, random fodder A (was that woman shown before? I can't recall) beating another clown... At least the Soul Resonance between the new Deathscythe and his meister was cool.
To exhibit the relationship between stein's strength and madness?
To exhibit the relationship between stein's strength and madness?
It was established that Stein is one of (if not THE) strongest Meister in the series back when he was introduced in Chapter 2. His madness has also been mentioned several times throughout the series ever since Asura was revived. At this point it's beating a dead horse. They should have just shown Stein one-shotting the Clown and had them move on to other events, honestly.
Hmm true that may have been shown in the past but haven't you noticed the change in Stein's character? He did not want to dissect the clown (curiousity vanished)…he just plainly opted to annihilate it. I find that as something significant. :S
Okubo introduced some new characters, although fodder as they may be, he probably opted to let them show off some of their capabilities to inflict damage on their enemies before they hit the sack.
I liked the fact that Stein one shotted that clown.
More interesting battle than I thought it'd be but I reeeeaally want to see what's going on down on earth in the chruch between Maka, Soul, and Crona. I guess Okubo will get to that later, kind of like saving the best for last. I feel like I should be more interested in this Kinshin fight but I'm not. I guess I just don't expect for his life to conclude here on the moon battle.
And it's really hard to feel much emotion for the old lady who sacrificed herself. I don't remember her and she's a really random character that served under Kid I suppose. She was introduced like last chapter right? If before that I don't remember. I feel bad for her but that's about it.
92: Action chapter at its finest!
Introducing new characters only to kill them off the next chapter? Kinda lame and rushed, but the action was great anyway.
Why aren't there a stable and capable scanlation team that would be willing to do regular and high quality Soul Eater chapters? Just why? Why?!
It's already been a week since the chapter is out, and even translated, but no, nobody cares about Stein literally breaking heads.

Why don't you start your own scanlation group and do HQ releases of Soul Eater. I mean you really can't except anyone to do it if you are not ready to do it yourself
New Soul Eater Not! Out: http://www.mangareader.net/soul-eater-not/10 The Thompson Sisters enter the story pre-kooky days.
Oh us silly Americans and our violent guns. LOL.
sits damn on the computer and reads chapter like a true OG
Lol, pretty funny chapter. I hope next week they continue the fight rather than skip it.
http://www.mangareader.net/soul-eater/93 New chapter! Stein goes all out!
That was all right. Justin's crazy, Stein's crazy… everyone's crazy. Let's all go bananas.
On another note, Why did Marie look like a regular tonfa? I thought her full weapon form was a Hammer-Tonfa Hybrid.
Meh this wasn't worth the monthly wait but was alright for what it was. Poor Granny though, survived an explosion only to get backstabbed by Justin. Talk about mean. Some back and forth between Kid and Justin on whose the worst monster. Some fighting and Stein cutting loose. Not much progress but its getting there.
Nice chapter, mostly because Stein going crazy on those monsters. I've been waiting a long time to see what he can really do and I want Spirit to put some damn effort in this battle too. I thought Granny died last time and it didn't have much of an impact on me, but seeing her alive then ripped in half and consumed was…something else. R.I.P. Granny. You will be remembered for the 2 chapters you were in before being offed.
Why the hell is Spartoi looking for Crona? I thought she was located in that church a few chapters ago? If she moved that wasn't mentioned.
Did a little catch up.
Not much to say except it does appear to be the beginning of the end (maybe that child witch will be handled in the epilogue).
Not's good too.
Soul eater is an awesome manga but it's hard to relate well to the plot with these monthly chapter releases. It also seems like it's soon about to close in to the climax. (which hopefully isn't Maka going shounen super punch while kishin derps around most un-canonly)
Granny got cut in half or something else happened?Anyone care to explain?

Enjoy a great display of blood, guts and madness everywhere.
Wow… so much madness. I don't know what's going to happen next to Stein :S
Justin is already dead. Now we just have to see who will fall first, if he or Stein by overusing Marie.
Chapter 95 out, and did I hear madness?
Horrible translation. Lines of Size? It's supposed to be Lines of Sanzu…
Well, whatever, I could still follow the plot. Looks like Crona's had another mind wipe, and Kid is still lacking potential. Meanwhile, Noah is confronted by the Not! guys and Stein goes nuts while Justin spouts off prophecies... not much happened this chapter, honestly.
Good action, and Maka finally meets Crona, but we really didn't progress at all.
I have to say that I'm not super feeling this one. I think it's because the Clown villains on the moon didn't get any build up, they were just there and now we have to fight them. As opposed to the Christmas Eve and Baba Yaga's Castle arcs, where I felt like each member of the villain squad had great characterization, and I was looking forward to them showing what they could do as much as I looked forward to the heroes showing what they could do.
Love rage Noah and Gopher interactions x3
quick drawin
I like the clowns designs . Yeah I know I'm not bringing anything significant to the discussion but that's mainly because what I want to say gets said. I wonder if we'll ever get to see Free again and I would love to see BlackStar fight one last time B4 this. Series ends
Honestly im just waiting for another anime for this show,it needs one bad

Black Star should fight Cthulhu. There's no opponent strong enough to mahe him sweat.

Yeah, Free was cool. An immortal werewolf. I don't think this is the final arc though so we'll be seeing him again. I don't know why but this doesn't seem like a finale to me even though everything is pointing towards it.
As for the recent chapters plenty of action but since these out-of-nowhere clowns keep popping up, yeah there really was no progression. Found it enjoyasble nonetheless to see al the fighting. I find I'm not that invested in Soul Eater as I used to be and just read it because I'm already caught up and remembering how much I have enjoyed it in the past. Not saying it's a bad series but…I'm just reading it to read it at the moment. The Chrona vs. Maka/Soul fight should be interesting.

I think this is the final arc, Kishin has been a part of this series ever since he was first released back when medusa and her rag tag team of merry men freed him from Shibunshin.
It would be the final arc if there wasn't a ton of stuff left to cover up yet. The witches, everyone already forgot about the witches?
Not to mention there's the many incarnations of Noah, the TOC, the third gorgon sister, Angela…
And the most important one: the successors of the Great Old Ones.
This holds more the vibes of a Marinefordesque arc than of a finale to me.
you know what….I honestly forgot about ALL OF THAT
Well, no surprise there, since the last time we saw many of these things was way before Baba Yaga.
I believe the witches issue is, may I say, of utmost importance. Up until now they didn't do anything because of Shinigami's overwhelming power. But…
Imagine that at the climax of the battle against Asura, Kid awakens his true strenght by connecting the last Sanzu line. What it means accomplishing this feat, we already had been hinted about the consequences: Shinigami's demise.
And so, if Shinigami dies and with pretty much all the strongest meisters and weapons out on their respective missions, WHO IS GONNA PROTECT DEATH CITY?
Volume 21 cover.
! By no means this arc is the middle of the series, so I find it strange to compair to Marineford. Now if you say Raftel and the following great war…
Asura and Chrona storylines have been going on since the very beginning of this manga and basicaly defined its plot. And since this arc is basically bringing them to rightful conclusion, the other plot threads left to Ohkubo don't have as much importance as these. The only ongoing topic is Kid's ascension as a shinigami - connected to the Index figure and his Noahs - which can be followed upon with demise of Asura. Nothing else was built as heavily, and probably wouldn't require more than a few more additional epilogic volumes.
I believe the issue with Crona won't end there. Let's not forget that Crona was hinted from the very beggining of the story as the next Kishin.
I have pretty much assumed that the final fight of Soul Eater is gonna be Maka having attained dominance in regards to handling a weapon & Soul with complete control over his black blood vs Kishin Crona + full powered Ragnarok.
And it's funny how people keep forgetting about Angela and the potential threat she could grow into if she were to find about Mifune's death.
Soul Eater Not! 11 is out.
You know, once you accept this series is about world building and charactization and not action, it's pretty good. But, this chapter was about the Thompson Sisters so maybe I'm just fanboying over them.
Great chapter. Fits perfectly into what little continuity we know about their past. Great Kid cameo. Interested in seeing if there's more to the master than just shop owner. Only problem is I still don't love the Not! cast. I don't hate them, but it seems the focus of the series will be on developing Eat characters, at least in the beginning.
In the end, I wonder what the author's endgame for Not! is. Is it a side story add-on to Soul Eater using the Not! girls as plot devices to see the old school cast, or is the original series taking most of his attention and once it ends Not! will come into its own? We've already seen the third Gorgan sister, increasing the chance we'll see more action, but will it be the Not girls eventually fighting the big bads or will the Eater main or supporting cast steal the show?

Neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeew chapter!
I may not be invested in the series plotwise anymore, but
Hot
DAMN
When Ohkubo goes nuts with the stylization, it's everything I want for a manga artstyle. So Good.
1 question tho, what will happen to Shinigami-sama after Kid connects the 3 lines? Don't tell me he's gonna die :(

Although nobody is really sure, I believe the general consensus is that he will, indeed, die.
