Honestly I like the concept of the Varia having their own rings, it's pretty fitting that they of all groups of characters should have them. Though the reintroduction of box weapons is… ugh, let's hope they don't go too far with them again. Also, I'm glad the author confirmed my theory about Yuni giving the rest of the people their animals through rings. Also, what a slap in the face to remind us Shamal's still in this series... and won't be in this arc... sigh
And sadly I can't see this being the last arc either. Though it would probably be the best note to go out on, we know she's not gonna quit writing till she's made Tsuna a mafia boss and tied up the loose ends of the series. Like that mysterious guy from the future arc, Mukuro's plans now that he has his body back, any plans Byakuran may have, and the Vindice & the clear arcobaleno. I can't see this arc doing that, though this probably will be the last good arc in the series.

Let the battle begin!
Ooh son vs. Father
Cool first matchup. Kinda pointless to tease with Varia taking out Enma right off the bat when they're going to go find someone else that'd be a better warm up. Tsuna vs his dad looks like it'll be interesting though.
Didn't expect that. Great first match-up.
Iemitsu murdered that wall! Thought Tsuna's Dad only used the pick axe to fool Mom. Thinking about it, it's an awesome weapon.
Either they'll fight or a pissed off Hibari will show up.
I kind of liked this fight. I hope Amano doesn't screw up.
And a pick axe sure is a cool weapon.
@loledinmypants: I don't think varia defeated Enma I believe they didn't see him as a worthy opponent and just ran

Which is exactly why I was saying it was pointless to tease us with the worst pair (Enma and Skull) being eliminated first only to back off and not do so. Random wasted page or so and pointless building of tension to just drop it instantly when Varia decides to go elsewhere. I do like that it showed that there are more people participating than Tsuna and Iemitsu (well, and the Vongola crew trying to find Tsuna), but it was still pretty wasteful.

Amano probably wanted to give off that feeling of this really is a battle royale but if she really wanted to do that than she should of had the rest of the simon family show up to protect enma even though they don't want to be apart of the representative battle and at the same time have Verde's group show up.
I'm still wondering who the hell Fon has chosen as his representatives.
Imo we should have had a different pair of groups clash that were more evenly matched. That or someone (probably only Uni or Fon would even consider out of the official teams) come and save Skull's team and ally with them (this could also include the rest of Simon or anyone not on a team that'd be partial to Skull or Enma). I'm sure it was there to give more of a battle royale with more than one fight happening feel, but it ultimately wound up as wasted space. Unless by chance Varia eventually makes a strategy to take out Skull's team assuming it's only Enma but by that point they actually do manage to overcome their unpopular/bullied gags and gain some more teammates. But in that case Varia would end up looking stupid rather than like professional assassins…
Honestly, this is just a minor criticism. The only main things I dislike in this arc so far are the reappearance of the Old Man Ex Machina to put the Varia power levels on par, and that annoying messenger from the checker-faced iron hat guy.

Yes, because if there was a highly skilled craftsman that returned from being "missing" after a long time, and you were now able to contact him, you wouldn't recruit his services for some help. Just makes no sense.
The fact he was missing for so long, no one could be arsed to give him a passing mention before his sudden first appearance, and that he's only popped up thus far to give deus ex upgrades to people is the problem. Yes, we were given a line that he was a master craftsman that went "missing", but that doesn't change the fact that he was pulled out of nowhere because Amano needed a big bad that could top Byakuran but couldn't come up with a way to power up the Vongola to overcome them. If he had any actual character besides being a walking upgrade that appears from out of the blue now and then things would be much more tolerable. A character being "mysterious" and always wandering is different from an author using that as a veil to hide a lack of character, if that makes sense.
Honestly, who was that guy? Did we get any backstory on him, or did he show up, make the Vongola rings stronger than they were ten years in the future, and then disappear? I vaguely recall that he made the original rings, but that doesn't make sense given how old that would make him.
Looking at the timeline of the Vongola… it exists for 400 years now, right?
But look at the bosses. There're no way that the First, the Second, the Fifth and the Eighth ruled the Vongola for more than 20 years, since they look too young. Even if we assume that the older bosses are 55 at most, we're still left with like 100 years without a boss, or whatever.
And why do the First's Guardians look so young? Did they ALL die at a young age? Oh, wait. They can't be bishies without being young, now can they?
Please, don't try to make sense in Reborn, you'll only lose time.
@!Volpe:
Please, don't try to make sense in Reborn, you'll only lose time.
I know. But I'm bored and I've got nothing else to do.
So yeah, I figured it out. It turns out that the timeline of the Vongola should be shortened (from 400 years) by ATLEAST 120 years, and that's because I was generous when I made the older Bosses older than they actually appear to be.
Fire fist ace and strawhat chan both need to change there ava's and sig's cause if I don't read the names of the poster than I get confused.
Tsuna got his ass kicked. What a nice chapter!
And Hibari is the boss? I figured out he would be in Fon's team, but I thought he would use a normal watch.
Go the future, save the world, return home after 9 pm and get scolded by dad.
You're in the mafia.
Pffft… damn I was expecting Hibari was going to obviously be Fon "boss" but I was kinda expecting something diferent to happen.
Same with Tsuna and pops atleast for the start of the fight, very pedictable chapter.
Iemitsu gave Tsuna a Falcon Punch.
Lol at Fon's choice
Iemitsu gave Tsuna a Falcon Punch.
Lol at Fon's choice
and that he did…kinda sucks he didn't use his pick axe
Everyone and there mother knew Fon was going to choose Hibari. Watch the rest of the team be I-pin, Lambo and Shamal.
Lambo is going to be on Tsuna's team.
Even thought he is going to lose in a ridiculous manner, unfortunatelly.
Like Reborn wants Lambo on his team, he hates him.
Thought the Varia didn't think Enma was worth attacking. Oh well. He's screwed unless the rest of Shimon show up.
Iemitsu read Garp's book on parenting. Perfect time for Chrome to show up and save Tsuna. No way Team Reborn's getting past Hibari and stopping Iemitsu. That is unless Dino shows up.
Liking the chaotic feel of several fights happening at the same time.
Lambo is going to be on Tsuna's team.
Even thought he is going to lose in a ridiculous manner, unfortunatelly.
Hoping Spanner (controlling a Mosca) will replace him.
So it looks like Jump is dropping this series?
Trolling. Doing it in the HxH thread, too.
Unless he has some proof?
Nah he's a trolly mctroll troll other than that really enjoyed the chapter. Iemitsu's Falcon Punch made me happy for some reason.
Was pretty sure that Hibari would be Fon's representative, he was the only strong character left out… Oh and Tsuna's dad is a beast.. he must be like one of the strongest character in the whole manga seeing how he knocked out Tsuna with one punch
Oh hey, look at that, we actually got a little bit from the Varia vs Enma. Thought Varia was going to find better opponents, but at least I can take back that complaint. Still have a hard time believing Enma will make it beyond this round without someone coming in last second to join Skull (or ally with his team), but at least that bit last chapter wasn't a waste after all. Wonder if it was a translation flub and Varia was going to warm up on Enma the whole time or if it really was as mildly inconsistent as it seems.
Everything else is about what I'd expected, but the battle's are interesting enough so that's not a bad thing.
Pretty obvious that Hibari was going to be Fon's representative, but I'm hoping that they will complete the teams so that we can have team battles :D
the power levels in this series are just so fuck
10-years later tsuna got beat by byakuran, right? but then current tsuna went to the future and trained and got better, and beat byakuran. Then he came back, and got attacked by Enma, and the 9th pretty much stated that Tsuna & Co. were the strongest in the Vongola. Then Tsuna gets stronger, beats Enma and then Spade. And now, his dad is beating him.
so, we get this: dad > current tsuna > enma > 9th > byakuran > 10-years later tsuna
which is completely ridiculous. Almost as ridiculous as the fact that Tsuna must really go downhill in 10 years to make that future make any sort of sense. Except, wouldn't he remember it? wouldn't future yamamoto and everyone else remember being in the future? Or, is this some sort of paradox future bullshit, where Tsuna levels up, thus making him not so weak as to lose 10 years from now, and that whole crisis will be averted?
anyway, I hope Hibari kicks their asses.
In all honesty, Reborn never used logic anyways ^^;. I'm guessing it's the whole "Deal with it and it won't happen in the future!" crap. So if Tsuna hadn't been transported to the future, their future would have been like that.
If Hibari loses, that would be a pleasant twist of events. Gokudera/Yamamoto/Ryohei vs Hibari pls?

To be fair Tsuna never fought any of his family so in his dad's case Tsuna is probably holding back.

The crisis will already be averted, as Irie choose not to use the Bazooka.
But yes, that was an alternate future; the TY Bazooka was damaged when Lambo used it on everyone.

Except that's all completely wrong. Tsuna got rid of the Vongola rings in the future, trying to make peace in the world. Tsuna also never got a chance to fight back anyway, as he was GUNNED down. Hence why they brought the kids from the past to the future.
Vongola never even could fight back against the Millfiore (or however you spell it ) family without the rings, (Yamamoto and Gokudera used rings that broke after use) so they were forced underground.
It's never even shown just how much more powerful the 10 year Vongola are without their rings because right before they can explain how everything works they get switched with their past selves.
I'd assume if they had the rings instead of children they would've faired much better.
New chapter is out. http://www.mangareader.net/katekyo-hitman-reborn/361
Once again I don't understand the fan ranking mentality. Flan…really?
I'm actually a bit excited to see the next chapter! That was definitely an unexpected development.
Chapters out,
this new gift will make things interesting, kind of defeats a bit of the purpose of a representative battle though

I kinda wonder if it swaps places with someone to do that. But I hope they explain it within a couple of chapters.
Damn Ryohei! I was hoping that he'd at least put up a fight so we could see how amazing Hibari is compared to the others. Then he goes and "stupids" his way out of the damn battle. I don't think he can be called the Yamcha anymore; he might need his own word.
I hope we are going to see a strong Skull. But I think Amano will disappoint me…
Tsuna and flan really? Reborn fans have really bad taste.
This is 7th poll you guys are acting like this is a suprise at all.
This is 7th poll you guys are acting like this is a suprise at all.
This is the first poll I actually paid attention to after reading the whole thing a month ago. Tsuna even being in the top 10 of a favorite poll is disgusting.
Ahhahaha Ryohei taken out with the first hit. That's a first even for him. Although I'm glad it wasn't Gokudera it probably won't get better from this point on.
The rankings are a bit odd; But it does make sense that fans consider Reborn, Hibari, and Tsuna the strongest people in the manga. Dunno how Flan got in there when he's just Mukuro's apprentice…
As to the chapter, I was hoping that the gift would be temporarily removal of the curse. In the Anime filler, Skull's power was to buff up his body and be incredibly strong... so, this should be good.
Question, though, if Yuni ends up removing her curse, what will happen to her? Unless she actually turns out to be Luce reincarnated (which actually may be the case), She has no adult form to turn into. Maybe her Grandmother will appear in adult form to temporarily assist with the battle, as it was never said specifically that Luce is dead, just missing, and Aria is just retired at this point.
Also, not sure if anyone else noticed, but the second time on Skull's watch started counting down when he went into Adult form. Looks like they only get 3 minutes in their adult states, but that should be more than enough.
This chapter made me squee like a little girl at the ending.

Haha. No. Ryohei has won far more than Yamcha has.
I want a Varia hoodie.
Sucks Ryohei got taken down so quick.
Great cliffhanger. Not sure how strong Hulk Skull will be but his ability to survive will save Enma. Rest of Shimon will join the next battle.
I can imagine Hibari and Adult Fon crushing anything in their way. Also looking forward to Adult Reborn and Colonello. Anyone else think Hibari's other reason is his family ties with Fon? We could finally get a Hibari backstory.
