That's like saying we knew Shurohige's power because he used a bisento. I mean she still has haki no doubt a tremendous amount of physical strength and judging by her size she may be the fastest OP charcter since Lucky roux.
It's not even close to the same thing. Why would she be drooling constantly? When she's hungry, sure. When she sees/thinks of something that she wants to eat, sure. But all the time? People don't just salivate constantly. Why would smoke or gas come out of her mouth when she opens it? If you emit visible gas from your mouth on a regular basis, you need to see a doctor. Why would she be able to eat massive amounts of food and even other people? She can't have a DF that lets her eat things; That has been taken for over 500 chapters now.

I really can't see Luffy defeating a Yonkou by his own at this stage. I'm sure Kid's mention in this chapter is a foreshadow to a future alliance between him and Luffy against Big Mam in the future.
heh i would prefer luffy going to some island controlled by kaidou and then making an enemy of him too. i highly doubt luffy goes to the new world and right off the bat goes to battle her. he will eventually cross paths but that's after a while. no way it will go exactly like we think it will.
Didn't Drake attack one of Kaidou's man? I think when it comes to Kaidous the storyline might very well go through Drake
So we know Big mom is stupid powerful but just to give a hint. Marco would probably brutalize Luffy and and admiral would do the same to Marco….and a Yonkou would probably (and has) fucked up an admiral. Though it's not surprising Luffy always jumps into battles with people stronger than him only to grow immensely before fighting that person. We might finally get some sea battles! This is promising to be the most epic showdown since Luffy beat Crocodile.
It's hard to measure up when it's that far up the power ladder. For example look at Jozu. He has immense strength but disabled a Don Flamengo without a problem. Look at Hawkeye. His attack would have probably carved up Luffy and he cut down a freaking ice mountain with one slash but at the same time Daz Bones who is really not that powerful managed to block his remote attack as well as Jozu did. So honestly it's anybody's guess. But still I think that generally Marco and Jozu are about as powerful strength wise as admirals. While Yonko(except for Whitebeard who is a beastgod) are about as powerful as two admirals combined
Luffy I think is near an admiral's level of power

Seems a bit early for him to fight a yonkou, or is Oda trying to speed things along? I was expecting a few more adventures before anything that major. Could still be that way ofcourse.

That last panel reminds me a lot to Luffy's declaration of war to WG at enies lobby. And god knows how awesome that scene was. Great stuff, great stuff…
anyway, I think it's safe to assume that the arc will end in the next 2 or 3 chapters. Can't wait for New World!
I got a lough at the random thought of the citizens that thought Pekson was cute when he threatens people. That picking up the denden mushi reminds me of when he picked it up on the marine ship on the way to Marineford and got yelled at for answering it.
That would be one way to cement the idea of FI under Luffy's control in the random pirate's minds, esp the newbies that are just entering the New World. After all we see with the impostor Strawhat crew that the Strawhats in general, and Luffy esp. have a big rep, with the pirates in the first half of the the Grand Line seeing him as far stronger than them.
I don't think it would be hard For Luffy to protect FI and make people realize it's his. I mean most people that go to FI are rookies and we saw on Shabondy that supernovas more or less respect Luffy as a promising upcoming pirate. Luffy would just have to watch out for the Caribou's that don't fear him yet. Sending back Zoro or Sanji should be enough for anyone that tries to mess with Fishman island. Though it seems out of character.
Oda might be speeding up because it seems that going to Raftel is not the end of One piece Manga. Luffy will have to deal with the WG… and we still have Kaidou and BB and SuperNovas and other strong pirates from NW... anyway just like WB, Big Mom should have many strong pirates following her, so it might be like the BW arc where the final boss will be Big Mom but Luffy and Co will have to defeat some strong NW pirates before confronting her.... and maybe find out that she is the mother or Lola... and She becomes an ally which will be helpful when Luffy fights with BB, Kaidou and WG ( IMO need more than Shanks to fight with the WG)

Go Luffy! But I'm quite sure that at the end of that battle (Big Mom looks as stubburn as Luffy, so none of them will backdown), Luffy will manage to impress Big Mom in some way, and get her as an ally. Of course, being friends with her daugther will help in that.
Notice how no one is aware Caribou knows Shirahoshi identity as an Ancient Weapon, so he is left all alone, oh noes!!
And on a side note, good to see Kid is still breaking havoc, even in the New World...

So… Caribou is an example of how someone can be hard to fight for common people (i.e., without haki) because he's a logia user, but still very weak if one knows how to fight him (haki, weaknesses, etc).

The idea of Bonney as daughter of Big Mam is as bizzare as the thought that Lola is Big Mam's daughter. The EWWW comment makes me wonder if you're rejecting the idea based soley on looks, I can't know if that is true or not its just the way the comment comes across. I know some will dismiss the idea based on looks alone, Bonney is pretty and Big Mam is hideious. Remember Conis from Skypeia? She was very pretty but her dad looked bizzare.
And relationship doesn't restrict who people are loyal to. Remember Ace? His dad was Whitebeard's rival but Ace rejected Roger as a father figure. Could be a simialr situation where kid hates boilocial parent and respects Whitebeard instead.

if jimbei joins luffy's crew then i don't see caribou going back and trying to kidnap her again since he fears him. i do see him selling that information to somebody like kaidou,big mom or blackbeard. or he gets captured by a marine and he ends up telling them about her in exchange for letting him go.

If luffy earns Respect in the NW, it might be a simple matter… we know that Big Moms crew were not on the Fishman Island to defend the island from enemies. So if luffy becomes famous in NW, he can just leave the island to fishmans... I mean they are 10 times stronger than human, so they are not that weak, and if the Sun Pirate members can come back to the Fishman Island, they should be enough to defend the island.

Great chapter, of course. I love seeing the inner workings of crews, such as the Baron mentioning 2 ships of theirs were destroyed by Kidd and they're hurting financially, etc. Just makes the world so much more real. Big Mom's design is everything I hoped it would be so far :3

Last time I checked he barely hurt the admirals and the admirals can take island splitting attacks and live. I think it's safe to say that he'd lose to an admiral. Since he did lose to Kizaru. Don't say he didn't because keeping you concentration is part of battling too. He's around Jozu's level and Jozu lost to Kuzan.
So you can also say that whitebeard lost to akainu, when he had that heart problem, because whitebeard wasn't concentrated, while after some manga whitebeard riped the hell out of akainu.
Marco went fast to whitebeard and got hit TWICE from behind by kizaru,having KAIROSEKI in one hand and standing in his feet afterwards that coward attack from kizaru. I'm sorry i don't call that domination or anything like that
Also Jozu wasn't beaten up to the part that he paid full attention to the enemy, fighting equally.
Of course being caught off-guard is not a good thing in battle, but when your captain is having some problem, the hell you are looking at the opponent right in front of you
its probably an acid logia. for her to be an emperor she has to have some broken ass power. i don't think we've seen a girl fighter in one piece that was powerful and didn't use a devil fruit so shanks seems to be the only emperor that doesn't have a devil fruit.
That could explain why she loves sweets so much: to counteract the acid of her fruit??

I have mixed feelings about this. In the beginning of part 2, I believed this, but I've been changing my mind. The fact is, Luffy has the ambition to piss off a Yonkou, even though he may not be ready yet physically or with experience to fight a Yonkou. He had the ambition to talk like a big shot to Whitebeard after all.. You do realize though that Luffy's main/core opponents will be Yonkou/Admirals, as in the first half of the Grandline, Luffy's main opponents were the Shichibukai/Marines (of the same level, like Lucci and Smoker). Right now in the beginning of part 2, we will have "lower leveled" opponents. We have had Hody. Chances are that we will have Luffy go against a Supernova. I think this because, Oda made no mistake to have Kidd be mentioned this chapter, which means the chances that they will run into each other will be great. It was no mistake to show that one punch was able to take care of Caribou, with a bounty of something over 200 million. But it won't take long before Luffy will take on the Yonkou. My theory is this. Hody (first villain/defeated), Supernova (1 or 2), Marines (Vice Admirals/)/Pirates like the ones allied to WB, Yonkou/Admirals, Blackbeard.
Sometimes, I get the feeling that we forget (and sometimes myself) that Luffy was taught by Rayleigh and the great significance of this training. Not only was Luffy taught haki and other various things, but I'm sure he trained by fighting/sparring with Rayleigh to gain experience, and that alone would have given Luffy an idea of how powerful his opponents would be in the future.

when i mean killing i mean earning the victory. i love blackbeard but killing a half dead whitebeard with half his face missing isn't that huge of an accomplishment. i want to see him go after another emperor and kill them off at their full strength. maybe luffy and kidd will weaken big mom's crew enough that blackbeard can go in and kill her and maybe another person in her crew if they have a powerful fruit. i see blackbeard killin jozu and then giving his fruit to shiryu. that way zoro can cut diamond finally.

It's the classic "underestimating the opponent" thing. I think it's justified with Nami considering she doesn't really look like a strong fighter. Now that she has a bounty, she might not be underestimated like that.
Anyway. The chapter was amazing. Love Baron Tamago. So classy. Also, this promises to become quite interesting, now that Luffy pissed off Big Mam.

Well, duh. That would be like giving a sword to Luffy and expecting him to be as skilled with it as Zoro is from the get-go. She wasn't totally used with her relatively new DF powers while she had been training her Rokushiki since she was a kid.

I had this weird feeling that Big Mam had the ability to turn any object or living things into "food"…And first time we saw Pekoms and his eyes, kinda reminds me of Bepo, maybe Pekoms had any connection to him?And love Tamago, I believe he is the first 'Long Leg' character to appear in One Piece since his tribe is mentioned/listed in the Auction list in Sabaody Arc.

And holy crap…i've not enjoyed a chapter this much in such a long time. 1 of the Emperors makes an apperance, and Luffy declares war on her ( but then again, he declared war upon the World Government so...big deal...)

It was good to see Kidd was tearing it up in the New World....he's pretty full of himself if he's directly targetting 1 of the Emperors. Perhaps she is the weak link of the 4 at the moment, and her grip on power is at an end.

It seems too important to only mention it casually; plus it takes three days to reach the Whole Cake Island and the party will be held in four. Though for the time being, he has the issue of dealing with Marine HQ, who're no doubt going to be preparing to capture him the moment he surfaces in the NW. I can imagine Akainu coming personally....
I knew big mam would be big, but damn, i didn't think she'd be that big. It seems as if every opponent will be 20% bigger then the previous. And she also appears to be a cannibal, which makes her even more creepy. How that frightening bulk of flesh could have possibly spawned a nice pirate like Lola is beyond me.

a. We don't know for sure how strong Luffy really is hence we can't predict the outcome of a potential fight between him and Big Mam (but to be fair I don't think either that he's ready yet).
