Worst Filler Character
-
@JERK:
I never watched anime from that part of the series, but I imagine I would have killed someone with them throwing a filler arc between Logue Town and the Grand Line, do those dumbasses in Toei have no clue about pacing or do they enjoy torturing their audience?
This times 1000.
Me and my friend, we watch One Piece (I buy the DVDs when I can, which I did in this case.)
When we reached that part of the series (with the cutting steel plot hole and everything), I had to sit down and explain to him why we shouldn't watch that part (a waste of time, only one part is canon–the Calm Belt part--, the kid would annoy the fuck out of you.)
He said, 'Okay.'
Didn't miss a thing. Same thing with the filler episodes between Alabasta and Skypeia. On another note, speaking from memory, does anybody remember that kid who did the fireworks with Usopp? When she appeared, instead of the usual rage I felt at seeing another bratty kid, she only made me groan a little, and I was actually pretty okay with her. She do the same for anyone else?
-
Dude, johnathan was such a fun and cool dude! no one diss the man!
-
Where's the option "Every annoying lil brat"?
-
Yoko was terrible combined with the stupid amigo pirates it ruined a month of one piece.
Holy crap, this is true. And to think a crew to I unintentionally shared a name was so much shit.
-
The Dragon from the Apis saga or everyone from Rainbow mist (Worst Filler I think). I actualy liked Johnathan and G8 as a whole for filler I thought it was actualy really well done, same thing goes with the ice hunter arc, it was kind of meh in parts but the crew trying to get the flag back before Luffy finds out was actualy really funny. But back to the dragon… it did nothing Apis was annouying but at least she did something. And Everyone from Rainbow mist becuse it was stupid time travel has only worked in back to the future and chrono trigger every other work of fiction ends up ruining it and really one piece did not need time travel in it, unless of course where taling about flash backs that is becuse they do in fact rock.

@Superbear:
You can't useen this no matter how hard you try.

The funniest thing about him is that it really throws the Strawhats vs. WG "power level" at that point in the story pretty out of whack. Luffy is effectively able to destroy his vessel single-handedly and leave him and his entire crew for dead (while also making short work of the fleet) yet the WG takes no note of a relatively no-name pirate causing such damage to a Marine fleet.
To further add confusion, he is often given the rank of "Admiral" (what, giving the impression later that he was actually the same rank as Aikanu, Kizaru, and Aokiji). I think Funi fixed that part, however.
-
Yup, all kids characters are very much like One Piece, there are non filler kids too, the crew themselves had stories where they were those exact same kids. It's how the series started.
I don't know get how you guys reconcile that with things that can't be unseen.
-
Rainbow Mist Filler was good, it had a nice twist, and it was brilliantly joined with the story with the Alabasta Lybrary thing
-
Apis was just bland, the hate against her and the arc is usually overdone. It's boring alright, but nothing horrible or offensive. Now, Yoko…she was way way worse and annoying with her "BOSSU! BOSSU!" and kid angst.
-
@AMS:
The worst character has to be from the single filler episode, which is the one where Sanji "teaches" the kid how to cook on the marines ship. That kid is the absolute worst, and that was easily the worst half hour of the anime I have seen.
Yeah .
But has anyone seen the Water 7 cooking filler episode with that old man? Or the one with that orange wearing woman who makes Zoro into a babysiter ?That's true. And Puzzle comes with his own whinny filler kid too. His entire crew whines together (except for the dead first mate, but he is dead).
Puzzle himself would qualify . Most of his crew were just badly done background characters who never did anything , but Puzzle was a whiny ass bitch who fought by swinging around a chain like a four year old girl and kept going on and on about his own failure .

Know what I take the morbidly obese jokes and eating in every single scene jokes over all the filler kids , the Phoenix pirates , Minchi and Rapanui's friends .
This is just funny , especialy if you think about that tatoo , that musta hurt . You have to wonder why someone this immoral and un-justicy would even get it made .
@Cuddles:

I remember that and it was prety much the only Post Alabasta filler episode that I liked , better then Chopper "Ima screwing with canon continuity!" episode , Zoro's out of place "somewhere in EB episode" or even Nami's "Shut up I wanna draw maps!" episode .
And then there's sanji's cooking filler .
Ugh .

He's called that in the german dub too .
And lol if you realise there ware like what 15 ships firing at the SH's , and it's almost on the level of a Buster Call .
What pained me most about that was this cool ship got destroyed too and we never saw it again :_(
I mean look at it
!
Rainbow Mist Filler was good, it had a nice twist, and it was brilliantly joined with the story with the Alabasta Lybrary thing
The concept was kinda nice , but the whole idea behind Whetton's government and army seemed kind of unfinished , and Rapanui's power was hyped up for him to not even fight anyone .
-
@No:
Yeah .
But has anyone seen the Water 7 cooking filler episode with that old man? Or the one with that orange wearing woman who makes Zoro into a babysiter ?The All Blue salt episode was interesting and surprisingly smart for a filler (not to mention the good animation and directing), while Zoro's was kind of dumb but had solid comedy.
Both were easily better than any pre-Skypiea filler. In fact you forgot to mention the worst Water 7 filler, the one with Luffy and Chopper looking for that kid's pet. Eh, it's so bland i even forgot what happens. -
Oh the looking for the seahorse episode yeah that was pointless .
Oh and about Ocean's dreams - how can anyone not like that ?
-
Y'know, it just occurred to me that the Water 7 filler with the Yagara bull was a rehash of the Warship Island arc, only without an antagonist and the animal dying at the end.
I thought the Zoro babysitting one was solid, dumb comedy. And it actually utilized some minor canon charatcers like Mikazuki and Michael and Hoichel.
And speaking of the Water 7 filler I remember us getting an official episode title for an episode deicated to Nami and Robin (explaining their general absence in the filler beforehand), but then the episode itself disappeared into thin air. Probably for the best though, since it sounded incredibly dull and nothing more than an opportunity to squeeze more fanservice outta them.
-
Yeah, it was something like "Nami and Robin's great shopping day", heh.
I don't remember if that title was official or from some 2ch source, but 317-319 had short scenes of Luffy, Zoro and Sanji meeting the girls while shopping, so i guess they really aborted the idea of a full episode dedicated to that. -

It has nothing to do with pacing and everything to do to ensure that the manga keeps ahead of the anime. Really nothing anyone can do about filler except ignore it if they choose to.
And none of the filler in one piece has been anywhere as bad as the crap in DBZ.
-
Who voted Jonathan?
That filler arc was awesome… and so was Jonathan :(
-

It did die at the end (and was reborn I think but whatever) .

I remember seeing some thing like that actualy . I think that's what Goty mentioned actualy .
-

Well, if my memory's off, it just proves how unremarkable that episode was.
-
He wasn't reborn, though
He actually died
Holy shit, I was surprised -
There was a cute baby yagara bull that apeared right after it died . And I think it's spirit actualy "talked" .
Do the math .
-
Naruto…......!
-

Because the Strawhats as kids are nothing like the filler kid cliche whatsoever.
Are you just stupidly reading "kid" and not thinking there's actual reasons people hate those little brats?
-
Luffy or even Ace as kids have nothing in common with the filler kids .
Let's look at Jiro . He evidently has no powers or special skills whatsoever (like ALL THE PHOENIX PIRATES , and no , swinging around a chain like a sissy does not count) , we have no idea where he comes from , why he's on a pirate ship or since when .
Rehash that for all the filler kids .
Oh and I wanted to post a few characters that Nelson is better then , but I'll just say this :
he tried to blow up Apis .
He's my hero .
-
Who voted Jonathan?
That filler arc was awesome… and so was Jonathan :(
i know!!!
i think the worst filler character was apis and that captain of the mexican pirates
-
I actually liked Largo a bit. The high quality animation for his fight helped. Corto and the rest of the Amigo Pirates, however, sucked the big one.
-
Largo was alright and had a somewhat creative devil fruit , bult Colt was useless . All he did was shoot guns and the one time he started to use a technique he instantly ran out of bullets .
FAIL .
-
Largo was amusing, mostly due to his VA, the great Wataru "Bellamy" Takagi.
Other than Largo, the only thing i will remember about the Amigo pirates is how they were owned by the
Ewoksvillagers throwing rocks. -
And they weren't throwing boulders either , they just casualy threw rocks that fit in the palm of their hands .
And lets not forget how all of "Little East Blue" was fail to the tenth decree .
-
Carmen and Jonathan were awesome. I don't understand why they could be considered bad.
any and all stubborn filler children
Agreed. Does Toei honestly think little kids relate to these characters better?
-
Obviously .
And Carmen…..I dunno , honestly she was meh ish , that kind of obnoxious quirky anime female that every anime has half a dozen of and who serve no purpose .
-
I think instead of refering to them as the Amigo pirates we should refer to them as the Racially Insensitive pirates
-
Lol .
But what do we call the Phoenix Pirates ?
-
The One-Hundred Million Berry Disappointment.
Vigaro was the only remotely cool member, and that was because he knew things were going to go to shit, so he killed himself off in the backstory to escape from it.
-
I wonder if that thing that attacked them is ever gonna come up .
Probabyl not .
I loved how not one of them had any abilities at all , yet they somehow got into the New World . With their level of fodderness , they couldn't survive East Blue .
-
Remember when people thought it was Akainu and he had METEOR powers.
Because Meteors are just a synonym for flying rocks, and flying rocks are a total grounds for a devil fruit power let alone an Admiral.
-
@No:

Maybe they were all Sabaody natives.
-
Nah .
It's prety bad when you make Don Krieg look high tier .
-
Vigaro was the only remotely cool member, and that was because he knew things were going to go to shit, so he killed himself off in the backstory to escape from it.
Vigaro was alright. But his friendship speech got annoying by the time we were forced to listen to it for the seventh time.
The sad thing is, the Ice Hunter arc ended with Phoenix promising to see Luffy again in the New World (undoubtedly another filler arc). I guess we can all look forward to that.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooooo…........
The thought is horrifying.
-
Its not like it matters, 5_Of_Spades, they say that at the end of EVERY FILLER
-

The thought of any filler character, sans Jonathan, becoming a recurring character, is just…
I'd take recurring Foxy before a recurring filler character.
-
None of them will be recurring, Toei doesn't give a shit, lol
Jonathan is the exception, not the rule -
Sennenryu did get referred to again in Ocean's dream arc though. I think the anime fillers do attempt to keep a "continuity" of their own.
I also notice Zoro getting gum gum slingshotted around a lot more during the filler arcs.
-
Jonathan shouldn't be an option in this poll. Two people have accidently picked him already.
-

Actualy Drake is the most recuring , apearing in I think two movies before G 8 .
-
Shit I kinda regret voting for Apis now. Yoko would have been the one… The disappointment for that filler arc was so much greater when I actually anticipated it to be interesting... It SOUNDED good, and then just -__- Ice Hunter and Rainbow Mist were the only arcs I actually couldn't manage to watch through though.
And seriously who can vote for JONATHAN with those choices??? D: He's the only filler character I'd like to see again...

If you did not see it , watch the Luffy vs. Don fight , it's stil prety awesome .

I voted Carmen she scares me
-
I voted Carmen she scares me
Carmen's unique quality is that she only appeared in one episode.
