HAHAHAHAHAHA, oh Bleach. GLORIOUS!!! (shame about Beelzebub though)
Question is Sket Dance good? its seem to be high ranked most of the times.
Sket Dance is like Gintama lite though the liteness of it makes it more grounded which does wonders for its realistic school setting.
Sket Dance goes from FUCK YEAH AWESOME to WHAT THE HELL IS THIS SHIT in a blink.
The quality between chapters is so different. Such is the fate of a series heavily dependent on comedy.
It closely resembles Gintama, as the Sket Dance artist is a direct pupil of Gintama artist.
Naturally, Gintama is more refined.Overall it's well worth the ride, it's one of my faves in WSJ to be honest.
Glad to see you were wrong about it being in the bottom for a while:P

…..?
What are you talking about?
I was talking about Sket Dance being in the bottom batch for a long time, but managed to crawl out of it.
And I'm not wrong about that happening, it's a fact. It happened.
Sket Dance used to be a bottom feeder, always on the chopping block. It simply got better support as it grew fanbase, enough sales to warrant an anime series, and successfully avoiding threat of cancelation and rose to enjoy success.

Yuujirou: Niizuma-kun is right. For the past few years, (Censored)'s been boring.
They defeat a villain, and stronger looking villain appears. Rinse repeat, and nothing more.
Niizuma: Yeah, it's getting old.
Miura: You two say things straight don't you…Niizuma: If you let me do the writing, I could make it a little better... but that has limits.
Pride is all (Censored)-sensei has.
Yuujirou: Yeah, you're right
Niizuma: He'd never be a manga artist like Oda-sensei.
The anime is a mess too. If he can't come up with new ideas, rather than dragging it out, he should just end it.
Miura: Don't say that..!! The comic book volume is still selling well!!Yuujirou: Should we end (Censored)...? Perhaps Niizuma-kun is sick and tired of how dragged out it's become?
Miura: Well... the current top three is One Piece, Naruto, and Toriko.
(Censored)'s past its peak, that's for sure. It can't be helped it's heading to an end...

Shit Kubo is fucked lol, I understand Beelzebub being that low, I didn't think the last arc was as good as the previows, plus it is in a transition phase so that's probably why as soon as the new arc gets going it should go up again.
Fuck Nura keeps being so low, I liked this backstory thing, even though it wasn't amazing and like people said the Kyoto arc was pretty awesome, the new arcs chapters haven't been subbed yet but I'm curious to see them since Nura hasn't gone up in the ranks.

I was talking about this.
There hasn't been a really good chapter in a while.
It may pick up a little when the valentines chapter rankings come in, but I think it's gonna be in the bottom half for a while from here.Sket Dance is effectively in the top 5 (not counting unranked series like color chapters and new series) so…
-
Oh gotcha. I assumed it may sink to later half (but not bottom five) since the chapters hasn't been very interesting.
But again, Sket Dance is once of those fluctuating manga. It jumps back and forth. -

Parody-edit. A scene where Niizuma Eiji is talking about a certain manga dragging on, and the author who writes the script.

Bleach in bottom 3? Glorrriousss. Would they actually cancel Bleach if it got to the bottom? o_o

You say that as if it's a bad thing.
Not a bad thing for me, I'm just wondering why its still going if its at the same place

As long as Bleach continues to make a buttload of money, it's never going to end.
I think the anime would have to end before they even consider cancelling it.

Awww man. I was hoping for a "Yes Femme, Yes. When Bleach hits the bottom, it doesn't matter how many fangirls cry, WSJ is dropping that shit. Just like it happened for _________"
:cwy:
-

I don't even know why they keep the anime going as it is. Low ratings and doomed to endless filler arcs.
Maybe it's due to the ok dvd sales, but fillers always hurt the sales too. My best guess is that Shueisha is afraid to see the series' popularity definitely going to hell without the anime, which is just a big weekly advertisement after all. -
Bleach free falling to the very bottom pleases me to no end.
Beelzebub, however? Let's see, eight weeks ago - it was the chapter after Oga came, defeated one of the demons and announced himself as Beel's parent. Oh god. Character development. Jump readers hate character development.
-

If that's the case, I kind of get it. It was very very unanounced and unforeshadowed that suddenly Oga liked baby Beel now.
Besides It's not "I'm his NAKAMAAAAA!" or "I'm his family" it's "I'm his father".. not the target audience.
-
Unannounced and unforeshadowed? Maybe, if it happned back in the first volumes; but not today. Oga was shown to care a great deal for Beel evenback in the Toujou arc. A good hundred of chapters has passed since then. Now, when Oga is faced by demons who want to kill him and take his foster kid back to hell - isn't it a good moment for him to state his resolve?
-
The problem is that Bleach still sells a whole lot of manga volumes. Its sales are down quite a bit but it's still well ahead of Toriko, Bakuman or the other newer popular series. That'll keep it going.
If it keeps up this downward spiral though, could they maybe move it out of Weekly Jump and into, say, Jump Square, like what happened with D. Gray-man? Can you imagine Bleach as a monthly series lol
-
Perhaps we should start advertising to people across the world (both in the US and in Japan) why bleach cannot be readable? It would make a great boycott against Tite Kubo!

Didn't D. Gray-man move to Jump Square because the author was having medical problems with her hand?
-

couldn't be much worse than gantz (5 chapters of Tae! Sitting in an animal cage. It's so brilliant!) … couldn't be. could it? I'm scared....
-

You can't argue that Kubo is having problems with his brain….
-
No one's commented on poor Nura. That series doesn't deserve to rank below fucking Bleach (and be effectively last). Hope it moves out of it. And yeah Beel shouldn't be so low. Good to see Reborn where it rightfully deserves to be and nice to see Toriko beating Naruto again.
Oh and once more take it from the top FALL BLEACH FALL!!!
-
To me, Nura is a mixed bag.
I love the art, the characters are endearing and well on the level expected of a WSJ manga.
Hell Tsurara is possibly the most adorable heroine in current WSJ manga. :wub:But the author can't pace himself to save face, nor can he fully utilized his arsenal for a dramatic effect on story.
So many well thought out plots falls to mediocre execution.I think he needs more experience in writing manga, but at this rate I fear the series won't live long enough for him to develop the skills.
See, I think Watsuki Nobuteru had similar problems at start. His execution of plots were generic at best.
But he learned, and he learned quick. Learned quick enough to survive and pull through well.
Nura's been given long enough time for it to improve, I don't know how much more time readers (and the editorial) are willing to give him. -
Well, it has a second season of its anime starting in a couple months, and sells like 200K each volume, so clearly it's doing something right. Though once it gets past the Kyoto arc in the anime and gets to the lesser-liked arcs it might not work out as well.
-
See, I think Watsuki Nobuteru had similar problems at start.
Who is Watsuki Nobuteru?
Don't you mean Watsuki Nobuhiro? -
I also like Naru, started with the anime with the first 10 episodes and moved to the manga.
It deserves a lot more credit then it's getting, even if the pacing is.. Eh. (Really don't like the fact that it's below Bleach.. Meh) -
@THE:

Don't you mean Watsuki Nobuhiro?Yes, that. The fat pig. :ninja:
-
-
I love Watsuki's drawings in the beginning of his manga.
-
Rurouni Kenshin foreshadowed One Piece
-
Well Oda worked as an assistant for Watsuki for some time.

So did the guy who did Shaman King and look how he ended up.

But I wouldn't worry too much about Nura's place in the TOC. This isn't the first time a chapter is ranked in the bottom, in fact, once Nura spent some weeks and even months there, yet it never got cancelled, and certainly it won't as long as the volumes sell a lot (200k per volume).
The main problem with Nuramago is the readers. Nura is more about story telling than action centered, and some to not say many readers are not used to this type of genre in a magazine where adventure and especially action prevail.
