3 cons in July. That's great cuz we have a bigger chance of finding out about season 4 getting dubbed. I really hope season 4 comes out this year. I still need to collect three more voyages to complete the funimation dubbed collection.
Funimation dvd discussion II ( UPDATED 8/4/12, FIRST POST FOR F.A.Q)

Has it been specified whether potential season 4 releases would follow the 'voyages' model or the 26-episode collection boxes? Thanks in advance.
-
They'd definitely follow the regular Voyage model. The Collections are meant to be looked at as cheap re-releases, not actual original releases of One Piece.
-
Funimation has big news today. I doubt it's One Piece, but it feels good to have hope!
-
I hope that it will be a bunch of new releases. Hopefully One Piece.

Damn it, Funimation. Getting my hopes up, only for them to inevitably come crashing down.
Registering on that forum anyway. They might be giving away good prizes :ninja:
-
Last Exile sequel. Nice, not surprising but good to know it's premiering at AX for a good reason.
-
I didn't think that we would get anything One Piece.
-
I can already tell you guys episode 206 and beyond won't be released any time soon one the site, but they will start uploading older episodes they put down silently every week. They will continue uploading old episodes through the end of July. Their schedule beyond then is a mystery still
-
Thanks for the info. I didn't really think we would get 206 and beyond anyway. It was kinda a losing bet.

Does anyone know where I can buy One Piece season 2 5th voyage on a internet website. I checked rightstuf.com and they didn't have it. I checked amazon.com and was going to buy 1 of them used there but now when I checked it today someone already bought up all the used copies! All they have left are 3 new copies and their way overpriced excpet for amazon.com which the price is $44.99 but it says it will take 1-2 months to ship or something! I tried that before I think with another anime and it never came here so I got my money back. I tried dvddiscount.com and they don't have any! I need to complete my collection of season 2. If anyone knows any websites where I can order this and they have it in stock I would ghreatly appreciate it. I don't mind if it's used or new. I just wnat it to be the funimation dvd set. Thanks again
-
You could try ebay.

as Samwize said, check ebay. I just came back from there and saw 2 listings where you could get S2 pt 5 for less with $30 (including shipping)

I dont know if anyone has said this since I didn't look through every single page but there may still be some hope. I was talking to Jamie Marchi at a convention a few weeks ago and asked her about One Piece. She said she didn't know much but she did tell me that Funi really wants to keep dubbing One Piece.

so basically what we already knew, nothing new.
in any case, we must be patient, our time will come
-
Hopefully it's just a matter of slow negotiations at this point.
-
Well, I guess you're right, Dixxy.
Episode 206 wasn't uploaded today. Bummer.
-
It's true. Alas, no 206 to be found. The waiting game is now played once again….
-
I'm not sure why you guys thought it would be uploaded. FUNi only has materials for #1-205 and awful 360p files for #392 and above for the simulcast.
-
I was sure if we were gonna get ANYTHING for 206, we'd get a subbed version, Maybe.
Now I know we haven't, lol.
-

I never thought we would get anything new this weekend.

Wow, you sure seem to not think a lot of things.
-
It's true, SnoCone, I do not think things sometimes.
But what I do think is that this little fucker on Toei's Facebook page needs to shut his mouth!
-
I know that guy, he's most likely just a troll.

Isn't the Hulu stream at 480 p though?
-
Hulu widescreen stuff is 400p. Which is an improvement over 360p, but not by much.

http://img819.imageshack.us/img819/1241/hitchass.jpgone little insignificant sh#t stain wont mean anything to the company. then again there is the saying:"it takes a snowflake to start an avalanche" just kidding
i don't think it would be ridiculous to expect at least a subbed version of 206, but since we aren't getting it i guess it wouldn't matter

Tomorrow we get a press release from Funi that they lost One Piece due to fans request.
-
hopefully only 1 more week of waiting, btw when is FUNis AX Panel?

wouldn't be surprised if we never get one piece, one piece is a big hit in japan so they don't need to go worldwide…
funimation should dub Rainbow Nisha Rokubō no Shichinin, its just awesome & they will sell well...

Being a big hit domestically is pretty big motivation to want to push it worldwide.

You are a heartless fiend! I would be surprised if we don't get any real news this weekend.

They don't need to have it in so many countries, but it makes money. That's the reason company's dub anime; money. One Piece makes a shitload of money in Japan so they hope to gain that success around the world.
-
Eventually they're gonna need to have it marketed to other countries like they do with DragonBall. Toei makes a large sum of money from the DragonBall franchise to this day, and the majority of it comes from the U.S. market.
-
So there is a chance we won't get season 4 dubbed by Funimation? That would suck big time. Within the past 7 months I bought almost the entire dubbed collection of One Piece. Just missing 2 voyages! I will buy them soon though. Their Season 3 Voyage 4, and 5.
-
Yes of course there is a chance we will not get any news. But at this point I will be very surprised if they havn't negotiated a new license agreement by now. Still though I base that off of nothing other than getting slight updates about "being patient" and not once out right saying that are canceling their dub of the series.
Anime Expo is the perfect time to just let this out. The only bigger nerd con will be Comicon, and even then I doubt they'd announce it there.
-

Not to be a stick in everyone's ass but that actually wouldn't surprise me if they don't have the license already.
Don't get me wrong. I LOVE One Piece, but FUNimation has only said that "they want to dub more of it" and that "they have no plans on dropping it". Doesn't mean it won't happen. But I can't see FUNimation losing it. It's just so loved here. And if Toei decides to deprive us of more just because they don't care one way or the other since they have their domestic money to fall back on, then they are really gonna miss out. Not to mention how may people will be super MAD at them for doing it. But, it's all up to Toei.
I can only pray they see it our way and make the right choice.

pretty much yeah, they dont really need to license it to other countries, like mentioned earlier they make more than enough in its birthplace.
in order for it to continue here is for toei to just accept that it will be the underdog here in the us, and wont make miraculous sells. if they already haven't.

The thing is, how many out of those One Piece fans in America actually view the simulcast and buy the DVDs? I'm sure there's tons of One Piece love here in the states, but the problems are how many of them may chose to not support FUNi in any way.

That's sadly the problem here with anime in general. People don't buy anymore like they should. I don't think there's much I can say on the subject that hasn't been said over and over again though, and most of the people who participate in this thread and probably not ones I'm talking about - people here are more than likely thinking about getting the DVDs, in the process of getting them, or have already collected all of the DVDs Funi has released this far.
-
Exactly. To be honest I was a bit hesitant to even make that last post since I knew we weren't the ones that need to hear this. I didn't mean to beat a dead horse.
-

This is the cold hard truth. One Piece has been one of the most pirated (get it?) anime/manga series for a while. And I fear the reason people don't watch the simulcast or buy the DVD's is because they already have the movies and episodes on their external hard drive.
Over on the latest episode discussion (505) someone said that they wait extra hours for watchop.com to upload it since it has better quality. And that really gets me upset that a main reason the simulcast isn't watched is because it isn't shown in HQ. But people will be people.

The funny thing about that is that it's usually in worse quality over at other sites. Plus, when Hulu uploads it it's at a mandated 480p, which is perfectly fine with me. I mean it's One Piece, the HD isn't necessary.
-
Of course it isn't HD nessecary, unless we are talking about Strong World. LOL
I still stream the simulcast, and I am purchasing the DVDs. I will also be buying the first 2 collections when they are released.
I am worried how long it will take for FUNI to release/get more ONe Piece.

What I don't get is why anybody (in the US) will wait a few extra hours for 'better' quality when most (if not all the) time it just the same thing that is on OP Official. How is that better quality? Don't they see the Toei logo on the side? Makes no sense.
-
For the offical stream I can accept 480p. Streaming in America with Data Caps is a sad American problem.
But if I am going to buy the show that was originally broadcast in HD on media I want the best possible quality and that means Bluray HD. So season 4 needs to be available on bluray.
I'm still waiting for Right Stuf to send me my order. I should have bought my manga volumes separately from my DVD collections. I think they are waiting till collection 2 to send me the entire order. -

I think they are waiting till collection 2 to send me the entire order. You do realize that not even Japan (as far as I know) haven't gotten what is consider Season 4 in HD Bluray right? Why will they treat us any different. At the time of this writing they only release what will be 'Season 4' in standard size instead of the widescreen that it was out in. So I would suggest you just settle for whatever we go since that be best then waiting for something that may take decades for (considering that they continue on for another decade in the US).
As for RightStuf. Sometimes they will realize it is taking too long and will separate your order. They have done that a few times for me.
