Part 3 is out.
Page 5:
Hatchan: "I was the number one swordsman on Fishman Island!
They forgot "aside from one man".
Page 9:
They call the Goldfish princess the Mermaid princess.
I noticed the first one, but not the second one. Also they wrote that Jinbei is a former slave.
I didn't even realise they had part 2 up, but 2 really interesting things struck me.
1: One of the fish chasing Buggy away from Gaimon's island has an eye patch.
2: After Hatchi is given food in thanks from the Panda shark, there is a fruit in his refrigerator that has some type of swirl markings on it. I'll be money that is a Devil Fruit.
Oh you're right. It does look like a Devil Fruit, though it only has three lines of swirles and Devil Fruits are completely covered with swirles.

Honestly, it looks like some random exotic fruit I saw before.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Oddly enough, don't we see at least two different fishmen settlements not on fishman island in the cover story ?
And all of these things look the same.
I can't wait to see the CP9 one and enel, especially what there doing after
It's lettuce. Not fruit.
Either way, the DF have swirls on their whole surface.

I'm actually surprised seeing they released a new part while the normal WSJ is still on and chapters of OP etc. are being scanlated… So far it was only when WSJ was on break, right? So, I'm guessing that's a positive change then! ;)
Edit: Really nice reading Hacchi's cover-story fully translated for once, I've looked for it before but only found untranslated scans as covers for older chapters until now - still amazing that he just gives away Camie to the Macro-gang...
Well they were part of the same pirate crew at one time. They did go through a lot together. Furthermore, Macro never tricked Hachi or meant him any harm at first. :P
Even so, if Macro wasn't so pathetically weak he'd still be one of the most despicable guys in the manga - selling his own kind to slavery for money. Ridiculous.
Chapter 3 is a good Chapter ^_~
It's nice having a lot of information in one place and demonstrating a lot of Hatchan's change in character - also like how he doesn't even seem remorseful about leaving the Arlong Pirates behind - almost like not only was he escaping the Marines but Arlong as well.
Cover page - Zoro in a hoody <3
I just wish the translation was better, called Jinbe a slave, and the call the goldfish princess the mermaid princess. Naruhodo might be new at being the lead translator at MS but he really needs to up his game.

Yeah, completely agree, was referring to the points you mentioned in the last part of your post - since Macro was a slave trader already before he joined Tiger in his quest, Hacchi should have known this, and that's why I found it so unbelievable he gave away Camie so easily. Despicable of Macro, as you said…
Well, I guess it really is because Hacchi was blinded by Takoyaki - wait, he is eating himself? :ninja:
A databook is kinda dumb with bad translations IMO.

Well his beloved Octopako likes her some octopus balls.
Take that as you will :ninja:

Dude, she absolutely wanted to buy some off of Hachi (which is why she was pissed when he sold his last piece to the catfish elder) and…..insert dirty joke here, it's late.

She was totally asking for it. Begging for his balls. Erm. Yeah, too late.

What I don't get about complaints like this: what makes him any more despicable than Disco, or Peterman?

Nothing. It's just implied that Fishman have a strong feeling of racial identity and companionship, but that shouldn't actually mean he's more despicable than a human selling humans. Maybe because Fish- and Merman in general are more at risk of getting kidnapped and sold in slavery though.
I'm thinking there was probably a predidice between merfolk and fishfolk.
That would explain "Mermaid Cove" and "Fishman District"… Hopefully Oda shows this at some point later on this arc.
Oda's stated that fishfolk and merfolk get along and generally live in harmony.
What I don't get about complaints like this: what makes him any more despicable than Disco, or Peterman?
Slavery seems like a big deal for the Fishmen/Mermen community, as in it's an integral part of how they're identified in relationship to humans.
It'd be like an African selling off other Africans to white folk, even though he could be snatched up and be sold off to slavery. The race or species in this case does make a difference. It's not like it trivializes humans selling off other humans, but there's just another layer in a fishman selling another fishman.
But what makes him truly despicable isn't that he's selling off his own people, but that he was under a guy that stood for liberation and freedom. He befriended a former human slave, was on a crew with individuals that were former slaves, and his idol was a former slave. Yet he still is okay with selling off people to slavery.
Well, I guess it really is because Hacchi was blinded by Takoyaki - wait, he is eating himself? :ninja:
If you think humans eating gorillas is cannibalism, then yes.
BTW, don't eat gorillas regardless; they're endangered and remarkable creatures.

Depends - are they tasty?
Can someone send me a link to the translations???
Depends - are they tasty?
Bush-meat is not for you. ;)
Any good translations worth looking at atm?
Mangastream and Mangareader, among others. They have scanlations of Green online and available. No one has completely scanlated the databook since it's so massive, so be patient for later parts. So far, there are 3.

If you want general summaries, Greg already posted translations earlier in the thread. It's in the first post too.

Did Greg ever translate the enel story? I can't seem to find that anywhere,
Greg didn't translate any of the stories, only add in notes about them. Regarding Enel, not much besides his growing ambition and new army.
Were you searching for a specific part of the story, or the whole story? I can translate tidbits.

Cheers Rubia, will read up on it when i can.
I picked up a copy from my recent excursion to Japan, and it's quite nice to have all those sketches in my hand. If nothing else, page 343 onward (the start of the "Secret Log") NEEDS to be translated.

I was just in an argument with a friend, my assumption was that the drawings on the wall were telling that the winged people came to earth because there was not enough natrual resources on the moon, he being an idiot looked at wiki page which said they came to the moon, which of course makes no sense so I just wanted to know what the covers from 470 and 472 say and what he wrote about them, that's all
any help you could give would be great, thank you so much! but it's no problem if you can't, it'll happen eventually and I know I'm right
Thank you again
Here:
"The paintings on the wall describe an ancient civilization of 'Moon People' with wings on their backs. It was a peaceful life."
"This prosperous city is 'Hilka'. Deficiency of resources drove the people off to new life on a blue star." *
"Uninterested in tales of old, God Enel turns back to his new faithful army."
"Enel's electricity powers up the whole city and its inhabitants, filling them with power! Standing upon the 'Fairy Vearth', Enel's new army is complete!"
Have fun with your friend who uses unreliable sources as proof.
The German version of Green has been delayed to the 25th of February, due to it containing information on volume 61 and Carlsen Manga didn't want to release it before 61 was out.
Why they don't release them together in January is beyond me.

- Pretty sure this "blue star" refers to the "Earth" of the OPverse.

Well I guess that's fair. Wouldn't want to get the German volumes though. Or the French ones, for that matter. But since the English translations use "Zolo", I don't really want them either… but I prefer it in volume form! So I don't know what to do
I will have to live with the german version..so will you be able to.
But I don't live there anymore.

It's not that big a deal, hell I hardly even notice theirs an L instead of an R when I'm reading my Viz volumes.
Has anyone commented on Hiruruk's name yet? Because there's is no way it could mean anything like 'medical treatment'. The German word Chirurg which means 'surgeon' is probably the closest thing.
What about Behandlung?
On the databook it's written 治療.
Well, seeing as this topic was bumped, I should say the German release of Green was delayed again. It's not coming until the 20th of March now, due to production problems.
Cover is also done:
The back cover will be like in Japan. The dark gray bar will probably be silver and shiny like the past 3.
Too bad GREEN is in front of Caimie and Pappug like in Japan.
Why reminding me that i have to wait longer and longer for it :(
Marcello and Flamingo,
do you guys understand Deustch?
Do you guys think that Behandlung could be the "medical treatment" word for Hiluluk's name?
On the databook it's written 治療.
I'd think Chirurg is the word. It means Surgeon. It looks more the part to me.. Google Translate translates that as Behandlung, though. Romanized it's Chiryō, I guess, which looks close to Chirurg xD. But I know nothing of the Japanese language.
