So that's what happens to Chimpanzee's when they die in Bleach.
Bleach Discussion 0: Hello Darkness my old friend

They go to Chimp Society, which is basically Zimbabwe with Soul Monkeys.

@Cyan:

Zimbabwe with Renjis.
-
Zimbabwe with Renjis.
Pretty much, yeah.
The economy of this Soul Zimbabwe is fueled by bananas.
Every 50 billion bananas is worth approximately $3.29.
-
And it is ruled over by Monkey King.
-
We must be discussing…
Sasakibe's Special! British Gaydom vs Soul Zimbabwe!
Wait, what? That's not the new filler? And it has a boring, clone battle premise? And Chad fails?
Sigh... the reality of Felch is always disappointing. Even if the filler is probably still better than canon based on the track record. -
That main villain design is almost as bad as that midget caveman-looking dude from the Amagai arc.
Somehow that reminds me a bit of a George Burns characature from some show…oh wait, the new villain...well, I blame them reusing part of, you know, the design for one of the Mod Souls from the Bount arc.
Heh...Bleach has become so bad that even a filler arc in the anime can't even save it and we're reduced to making jokes about a country suffering under a madman...no wait, that describes Soul Society too or else why else are Yamamoto's rules so strict.
-

It may be partialy re-used or whatever, but by GOD is it better looking that any of the new characters from the "Fullbringer Background rescue arc".

@Tokoro:
The latest episode of Bleach…was boring. It may have had some well animated moments but also moments of very staticy one-frame scenes done in sequence for some sort of art that didn't work. And...so our main baddie is making and using clones of SS and kicked the originals out? Doesn't feel that much like an interesting arc to me...outside Kon's usage though.
Well, yeah cloning is a prety boring plot device, at least use the pseudo science to create some sickly abomination while you're at it.
-
Looking back on the past few pages of jokes and faux filler ideas of ours, only an very small amount have concerned characters from the arrancar arc onwards. Almost everything has been with the SS cast, which speaks volumes of Kubos growth as a character creator.
For instance, The only possible filler I can think of concerning the personalityless post-skip characters would be
"Robots all along?! The shocking truth about the fullbringers!"
-
Oh when exactly does he apear, btw ? I skipped through the most recent episode and only saw the asshole with the halfway-dyed hair.

Oh Daz, I'm looking over the Kubo interviews.
Shall I share that tidbit about Chad with the others ? Can they handle it ?
-
The problem is that Kubo just creates and creates and creates and doesn't take the time to develop. It took until HM/Fake Karaukura for him to even do things with certain characters like Hisagi and Oomaeda and even fully reveal the abilities of characters' we've sort of known somewhat like Shunsui and Ukitake. Heck, a lot of the Vizards are still blank slates outside what we know and…well, the Fullbringers barely exist so far. And let's not get into the whole Arrancar thing. Truth is, Kubo just makes people up and doesn't go back to give them backstory or skills unless he really has no choice.
-
What I don't get about the fullbringers is the whole idea of their powers.
"They use the souls of objects that are close to them to give them superpowers". Fair enough. However why can these guys use stuff like air and asphalt to essentially flash step around. Do they have to convince themselves they really love the air and ground in order to use their souls?
And there's another thing, what exactly constitutes having an object close to you? Ichigo has carried around his badge for what, two years? And that's the only object he is "close to"? I carry my car keys and cell phone on my person just about every day of my life. Does that mean if I was a fullbringer I could create a jagged key sword with an AT&T phone shield?
I just don't get it.
-
The badge reminds him of being a supercool shinigami capable of flying and slashing! He loves that kind of shit.

Okay guys, here goes
Jump Interview Dec 08:
Yamaguchi (band member): “What will happen to Chad?”
Kubo: “He will have an active role. I am still planning” -
Where was the interview where he said Unohana would have a big fight? Because that was completely wasted too

That's always bothered me about FB.
Oh about the badge. I read before SS and I don't remember a single time seeing him even use that, aside from once, when he showed it to that shinigami with the afro and he didn't even know what is was.
Yeah, real close.

If it's in the interviews Daz sent me, I should be able to find it.
-
He backtracked about Unohana later, just another excuse just because of his Aizen love fest.
-
Kubo can't even avoid wasting potential if he states he'll use a character in an interview.
Somehow that isn't surprising at all. -
Unohana has been hinted at being the second strongest captain, yet Kubo didn't think to use her in the Aizen fight at all.

Kubo: I feel that good guys must always win, because that's just cool. Unless they're Mexican, because Mexicans can't be cool. Or if the coolest of cool, trollmaster Aizen is messing with them.
Interviewer: But Renji has lost before. And Ishida and Rukia.
Kubo: In those cases, I thought it'd be interesting to see that main characters don't always win.
Interviewer: Doesn't that contradict "good guys always win"?
Kubo: What? When did I say that? -
Kubo is too busy to take questions, he is currently in the process of coming up with thirty-one new characters.

"I came up with 50 new characters this morning. They're all going to be beloved cultural icons."
There's Borschlov, the big bulky guy who wears a vest.
There's Dabber, the guy with slicked back hair.
And of course there's Nutsy, the moderately short guy who carries a fishing rod."

And then there's Copper, the subtle rip off of Chopper (it's Chopper with a zanpakutou).

While ripping off Oda would be lame, that would be a better idea then Charlotte Cuulhorne.

Did I mention that 12 of the 31 new characters are Charlotte Cuulhorne?

You could have a rock wearing a fez and it would be a better idea.

So Bleach is ranked 11th in this week's ToC. I think it's for chapter 439 or 438.
-
From middle tier to bottom tier. Plunge baby plunge!
-
Interviewer:
So, mr kubo… as it continues it's decline in popularity, let's discuss some of the major problems that continue to plague your manga.
It seems that you-Kubo:

Seems like he accidentally the entire thing.

after removing color pages, Bleach is actually 9th. Not quite bottom yet but not even top 5. Which means…well, once the Shinigami return, the sheep shall as well.
And as for a rock with a fez: hey, I actually liked Jidanbou!

Prety much.

You have to take away series that haven't reached chapter 8 yet, too. I think Sengoku Armors and maybe Magico haven't..
-
Hm, the spoiler pics show
! a very conscious Ichigo getting sucked up by some black vortex, a save progress bar, and then the kid, Yukio I think his name was, standing there holding his PSP.
-
Oh so my prediction came true ?
That was fast.
-
It's worth mentioning that the kid with the PSP is my favorite fullbringer, since he seems to be as bored by everything going on as the rest of us. Of course picking my favorite fullbringer is like picking my favorite head louse, it really doesn't mean anything. I don't even remember his name it was Yugato or Yukio or Yahiko or something. Y-something kid, yeah he was cool, compared to the rest of the fullbringers.

Recently I catched up with Medaka Box, during the first character pool Medaka (the protagonist) and her Sidekick came 1st and 2th, but a random mook, equivalent to Mr. 3 (during Arabasta) in rank and utility came in 3rd. Why? Because it was a Bishounen with a tragic past.
The main character should be always the 1st on the popularity pools, why? Because he's the center of the story, Him being 1st means that the story is exciting and interesting. If the piece of meat (In this case shrimp) that's hitsugaya is first, that means that the series has more fangirls than fans, and it's a very VERY bad syntom.

You have a point, but I personally disagree. The main character not being first, doesn't automatically mean the series is bad. Gon wasn't first in the HxH popularity poll, he was third after Killua and Kurapika. And Soul and Maka weren't first in a Soul Eater popularity poll, they lost to both Kid and Black Star, iirc. Sometimes one of the other main characters is just so entertaining, interesting and likeable that they steal the show.
Although you are correct that if a character who's not even a member of the main cast is first, that is kind of a bad sign. If the main character isn't first, then one of the other protagonists should at least be first, because as you said the protagonists are the main focus.
That's one of my main problems with Naruto, the secondary characters are fun, but the main cast sucks (except maybe Kakashi). Who get's the most focus again? Dammit.
-
Well, Soul eater is an ensemble cast, most of the time the 3 main teams get shared spotlight, and Kilua has been with Gon for so long, they are the main duo. Kurapica is the "Fangirl Effect" if that poll was recent. If it was around the York Shin saga, then it's a little valid.

It was around Celestial Tower. There's also Sasuke and Kakashi who've placed higher than Naruto a few times. But Sasuke is almost the main character with how much focus he (sadly) gets. And Kakashi is the only main character in Naruto who stayed cool over the series, so I'd say that makes sense.
-
The bishonen effect is something that has happened for years. Heck, Otokojuku (and this is from the mid-late 80s mind you) had one poll where I think Hien (the bishonen senbon-user…but he kicks so much that who cares if he looks good) won for the most part. Fangirls will be fangirls sadly...and there's nothing we can do about it.
At least in the Bo-bobo polls, Don Patch ranked above everyone (particularly Heppokomaru who seemed to have a bit of the fangirl effect)
As for Bleach...yeah, Shrimpo isn't even a part of the main ensemble, yet being both shota and bishonen essentially seals his fate...and our chagrin. Its really hard for a lot of these types to go beyond said stereotypes and be great characters regardless.
-
I hope Kubo doesn't read these forums, but I just had a scary thought with this sinking ratings and Shrimpo talk… what if Kubo designed a new shota bishounen AND brought Hitsugaya into the plot... shudder
-
I'm in the camp who thinks that hating a character just because they're a bishonen is just as bad as hating Franky or Usopp because they're a bit Gonky. I'm not saying that a lot of bishonen characters aren't terrible, but there are some good ones.
Most notably Kurapika, I thought he was a very good character, particularly during the York Shin arc. He was basically Sasuke done right.
And Lelouch Lamperouge was cool. -
At least he couldn't create sexual tension between them.. Could he?
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Kurapika was cool, Shrimpo is as useless as they come, created by a cokie cuter just for pleasing fangirls. Somewhat like the kaworu nagisa wanabee from houshin engi. Was a cool character with a great personality (that would have worked better as a female) and great powers, but was made with a cookie cutter.
