Keep watching, Robby! The first two eps are the cheesiest, I suggest watching the eps Applebuck Season and Bridle Gossip After they set the stage/characters with the first two eps, they're free to go wild. Especially Bridle Gossip, that's one of the most crack-tastic.

@Holy Hell: Whelp, you were right: It did get better. When I said sappy, I was just talking about how friendship just seemed to automatically solve problems instead of learning something from it (a la defeating a dark sorceress). Now I'm cool with watching this show.
I hate to admit it, but the Applejack working herself too hard ep reminded me of my college days, and Rainbow Dash avoiding Pinky Pie reminds me of work, where I'm trying to avoid this guy that I think is openly gay for me (I don't know if he's joking or not).
The Sleepover Episode was 'meh' except for a few parts, but Bridle Gossip made up for it with Flutterguy.
Still not going to make a pony avatar, though. I'm not weak like Robby.

And to be honest I think I'd feel a bit creepy watching a girls/kids show being a 24yo male. That's the kind of thing that gets you put on a register where I live.

I tried to watch some recommended episodes and I had to shut them off midway because they hurt my ears.
Nothing is too girly to me. Like I said before, maturity need to combine both masculinity and femininity.
But this show simply fails to touch my soul.

I don't deny it's a well-made show, but I wouldn't recommend my kids to watch it.
I watch very few animations but, I am not even going to compare it with Miyazaki's stuff.
Childishness has nothing to with it. This is even more childlike, in a certain sense, but it’s more…soulful:

Yeah. I can certainly tell what you mean by not as soulful, but I can still see the effort of the creators to actually want to make the show something kids would really enjoy. And I really appreciate them actually making a show that's humorous and witful while still remaining childish rather than the brain dead humor that engulfs too many kid shows.

Actually, it reminds me of another comparison I did with How to Train Your Dragon and Toy Story 3. Between the two, I enjoyed HTTYD more, but I could in no way say that it was the superior film. Watching the two, you can definitely see more heart and passion in TS3, but that does not mean that HTTYD wasn't an enjoyable film either by any means.

Aaaaaactually I was trying to put it to Blackbird from The Beatles's White Album. You could do too though now that you mention it. I can hear it.

The only downside of watching this show for me is that it really isn't all the mentally stimulating, but while the values it teaches is (hopefully) shit you already know (not being a douche, asking for help, not judging others), they're still good values that every kid should be learning, so obviously it's me and not the show that's the problem there.
It would be like an being English professor talking down to Sesame Street for teaching the ABCs. Criticizing this show too harshly I mean.
Still, I do get some fun out of the small doses of MST3K fodder it gives me.

I can't really wrap my head around that the voice acting is what ruins it for people. To me the great voice acting is one of the strongest cards of the show

Toy Story is the better movie. HTTYD is the one I loved more and want to rewatch more and loved certain scenes. And Tangled is just pure fun. It was a good year for animated films last year.

Similarly, the previous year, Wall-E was certainly the more gorgeous better movie, but Kung Fu Panda was probably more fun. When you get a couple of REALLY GOOD movies, its totally a win/win, there's no need to try and place one as better than the other if they have different strong points and they were both entertaining.

Also, I may end up keeping this avatar just to taunt Sarus.

Regular ones, ones with horns and ones with wings.
The last category is the one with both horns and wings….which only Princess Celestia has.
Perhaps only the 'superior breed' are fit to rule the kingdom? :ninja:

This show just doesn't suit me I suppose. It presents a lifestyle that's foreign to me. I prefer something that teaches kids to look inside themselves, or something that shows them how to make fire, how to climb a tree. I grew up with cartoons of simple, modest, homely yet noble lifestyle often seen in Miyazaki's films. But I can certainly see why the show is popular.
