Gun Fall was the leader of the Skypeian before he was dethroned. He conflicted with Wiper as the Skypeian leader, not a third party. [β¦] That said, the situation in Fishman Island isn't like what happened in Skypea. Trying to make a parallel would be absurd IMO, even my own comparison above.
That's not what I was getting at. As the Ex-God, Gun Fall was working alone against both the Shandians and Enel, while at the same time hoping for peace between the Shandians and the Skypieans. I never meant to imply the two have / had similar connections to their respective villains, just that their roles in the arc are very similar, as well as their past actions and behavior. I'd rather not retread ground on that discussion though; it was meant to be a weak comparison, and was a single last-minute sentence added on to the end of my initial argument.

If Hodi is really actively infamous and influential in Fishman Island these days, then he would have been paid attention and discussed by the King and his staff even before he intruded the Palace. But, as we see, only when he appeared in the Palace the King started to remember about him.
Oh, come on. We've been at Fishman Island for all of eight chapters or so, and of them Neptune has been in three. These chapters have been packed with dialog, and as the reference serves a dual point (to me), it works better now than it would have as a passing comment earlier. We are barely getting to know the roster for this arc, let alone their past and what motivates their actions. For argument's sake, the comment about Hodi being a "talented soldier" just speaks of his potential. The people who stand out the most are generally the people who end up getting more responsibilities and/or leading.
@THE:
Jinbei is far more influential than Hodi.
I know what you are saying, but I don't think it applies. To this point Jinbei's "influence" affects a different group of people. So far we have seen more respect towards Jinbei from mermen and mermaids; come to think of it, have we seen any fishmen show respect for him yet? All I remember from fishmen is the "pain in the ass" comment and the "past mistakes" comment from this chapter. Maybe someone has, but I don't recall. Camie, Pappug, Fukaboshi, Neptune, and the ministers are the only (fish) people that come to mind.
