I remember when garaa used to be a cool character
Dosu and Gekko should've been kept around.
Especially since Gekko died for nothing (story wise).
I remember when Orochimaru seemed like a competent villain.
Hell, I remember the Sound Village existing.
I remember when I used to really like Naruto.
The character.
Now he's just "Mehhhhh"
Well its official "past simple" is a new theme associated with the series a bit like the New York knicks "Where amazing "used" to happen".
I loved when Itachi made his badass entrance.
I loved when Shikamaru owned Temari from the very start.
Good times.
I remember when Kishi used to actually surprise me, like in the battle between Shikamaru and Temari. The fact that Shikamaru forfeited caught me completely off guard. And it was great.
I remember when I used to really like Naruto.
The character.
Now he's just "Mehhhhh"
Fuck yeah..
I remember Naruto challening 100 junior ninjas while being weaker than them whichwas fuckin awesome…
So Tenten got the Fan?
I remember when rock lee kicked sasukes ass, and when he got screen time
Oh, this is so funny.

I'm unconvinced that the War will be the end of the series, especially considering the other major mangas that had a war arc, but still went on to have a new story arc.
Naruto's popularity is still sound, so even if the current story does come to a real conclusion that doesn't mean the manga has to end.
Note, I speak entirely from a financial perspective. Much the same as DBZ found a way to continue even after its natural conclusion entirely due to popularity, so to can Naruto. That's not to say I necessarily wish the series to continue, but that is besides the point…

Oh, this is so funny.
'sighs'. And that is my greatest fear, and I have thought about it. I think Kishimoto wants to personally end it, but at the same time, his editors and other people can always convince him to stay on. Can they actually force him to continue or does he have a choice in the matter?

I really hope I'm right about this, but if a manga-ka has grown tired of doing a manga and/or has done everything they can with it and wants to bring it to its natural conclusion, then I'm pretty sure they'll let him/her end it.
At least, I really hope so.
I remember when Naruto looked kind of cool.
<_>
I remember when the title pages and cover art were actually worth looking at.
The Naruto anime has already shown that its QUITE willing to do filler, and Yugioh has survived with like 27 different manga and anime spinoffs. If Kishi realllly wants to end it, they'll let him, and keep the brand alive in secondary merchandising… and possibly a chibi Rock Lee spinoff.

Horrible spinoff that takes place years later, makes no sense, ruins all the characters we like, foucses on the characters we hate, relegates previous leads to cameo status, and then proceeds to provide random powerups and retcons that make no sense?
Yeah, they already got that. It's called Part 2/ Shippuden.

Yeah but GT didn't have input from Toriyama.
If Kishi isn't penning it it might have a shot at being good again!

So far, it looks like this has already been partially proven true with the chibi Rock Lee spinoff.
Oh, this is so funny.
A flaw in that guy's argument is that with Dragonball it never had a sound meta plot ongoing while Naruto does(though the main theme is dead sadly) Toriyama concluded the main goal of the series by volume two while Naruto concluded its main goal(thematically) by around 48 or so. Dragonball's arc structure was entirely episodic and didn't have the overarching story planned and while Kishimoto still has an overarching story to cover that he has been working on for sometime, that ties to Sasuke/Uchia/Kyuubi material. Seeing that may things have already been revealed like Naruto's mother and the reason why Naruto is the Jinchuuriki and the reveal of the origin of the tailed beast and clearly Kishimoto stating that Sasuke vs Naruto will be the last fight in the series and all thoughs homages to the first part of the series with the revivals the neglected side characters. The Dragonball argument is rather stupid especially considering that Kishimoto has already surpassed DragonBall's chapter count which was 519, and most of revivals have been made its clearly the last arc or at least the arc that will forward events that would lead to the last segment of the series.
This series is a dying dog that's only being kept alive by business executives on life support, why continue a life that wants to be ended?
Naruto Gt has already happen, only its canon.
@HiroVoid:
And a Naruto GT.
It'll be the story of Konohamaru (who received 4 tails from Naruto's Kyuubi)and Madara's descendant teaming up against Orochimaru who was reborn from Kabuto's egg that he thrown out of his mouth while dying.

Are there any statistics or data to prove this though? Is Naruto really doing that badly? To me, it doesn't seem that way. Young children will undoubtedly love Naruto, if they are exposed to it through successful marketing. Although this is an assumption based on a few cases I've seen with my own eyes.
I've read a year ago that Naruto was more popular than One Piece in the U.S. I'm not sure how accurate or true that statement was.

Naruto's still number 2 in Jump. If it ended, Shounen Jump still has other properties that are doing well including One Piece. Still, if they can keep Naruto around, I'm sure they'd love to.
Naruto can defintely end after the war. Unveil who "Uchiha Madara" is (show his face). Kill off Kabuchimaru with a group effort by the Konoha Ninja (or whoever). Thwart Madara's plan and kill him off. Have Naruto and Sasuke battle it out for the last time. Kill Sasuke off or have Naruto convert him during their fight. Make Naruto the Hokage…or an honorary Hokage if he dies or something.
Done.
Oh, what about the Juubi? I don't care enough to want to see it come back.
On that note of course Kishi could continue the manga after the war by either making Kabuchimaru or Madara live. Sasuke can leave the battlefield (if he ever comes on) and become the main villain. Kishi can make the Juubi threat a target for future development. Hell, Kishi can make new badguys up.
While I kinda want things to wrap up, I do want to see the 10 Tailed Demon. Just because it would be such a Kishi thing, to not show it after hyping it. Most likely Naruto will defeat Kabuto, then fight Madara, lose, get captured. The 9 Tails is taken from him, he learns to get the other half of the chakra from the shinigami, let his mother, father, and the Hokage's pass on, and Naruto wins.
They can continue the series if they want to. Even DBZ could of end at the cell saga. Just create new villians.
Oh, and Tsunade has to die or retire for Naruto to become the Hokage. The only Hokage to ever retire in the history of Konoha was the 3rd and even he wound up dying in battle. Lol, in fact the Hokage he retired for (Minato) died in battle and the 3rd had to retake the position of Hokage and died as such. I wonder if Kishi would give Tsunade a decent ending.

Oh, she'll die. Right after we see her true old, wrinkly form.
Is that official ?
I Need the source to laugh in pain.
Here it is. I was actually the one debating the guy.

Unfortunately, yes, that is true even to this day. Naruto's popularity here has waned a bit in recent years, but it still tops the manga sales charts. A few years ago it was insanely popular, mostly due to the anime.

I see. Boy, some people are just stubborn. Honestly, I used to be a fan of Naruto until he killed Itachi. Slowly, I started losing hope until the Hokage arc. That was the final blow. I hate to admit it but I thought Sasuke was awesome when he rebelled against Oro. He did not talk a lot, he was quite modest, he still had a noble side.
Nobodyman Why did you waste actually waste your cognitive ability arguing with someone like that?
Seriously.

Same reason we argue with juju.
And same reason Zephos argues with idiots like tori22.
For the lulz, of course.
@Nobodyman plz don't bring me up I shut you down several times throughout this thread which you have yet to answer. Don't call out my name. If it was for the lol u would own me pretty easily, but can't. Make fun of naruto all you want on some stupid forum with no real debater. Go try that nonsensehere or at narutohelpers.

Dude calm down, multiple times it's been pointed out about this manga, the thing is everyone is to tired to even attempt to defend this manga anymore, when people can saying "Well It's not bad, just not as good, but it's still one of the best manga ever, and Superior to so and so for this reason". At this point it's beating a dead horse.

Sorry juju. I've already dealt with enough Narutard dumbassery on Animesuki.
i was told by a japanese friend of mine that fans usually rally in protest in front of manga publishing companies whenever they feel the manga-ka has disappointed them, especially when a beloved character is killed off in a terrible manner. because of this sales drop and it becomes problematic for the publishers, so they in turn pressure their manga-ka. i keep thinking maybe that's what happened to kishi's publishers when kakashi was killed off in the pain arc. no wonder kakashi came back to life.
LoL. If that's true, I can imagine the fangirls lining up because of
! Ace's death.(Do I need to spoiler tag this?) Luckily, Oda's already made it pretty clear he doesn't let fan opinion stop him from making the story he wants.
@HiroVoid:
Do I need to spoiler tag this?
Nah, Ace's death is like a year old, plus the anime hit that plot point a couple months ago.
I'm not going to lie, I enjoyed the InoShikaChou. Mainly because Shikamaru wasn't being an annoying Stu.
But somebody should put Naruto out of its misery.

Sad, but true. Even the worst parts of DBZ shit all over current Naruto.
Except GT because GT never happened.
Naruto will never ever come close to Dragon Ball. People that compare Naruto's popularity with Dragon Ball's don't take into account that Naruto got really popular really fast because of the internet.
woah woah, I just got a crazy idea, what if ten ten helps beat kakuz with the fan….... nahhh couldn't be..... could it????

Depends on how much she helps. She can help beat anyone just by being involved in a massive group attack. Now, her playing a very important role in the demise (it has two "e's" in it guys….suspicious) of Kakuzu is a different matter.
I bet she doesn't have enough chakra to even touch that fan.
I hope Tenten will not beat an Akatsuki member, that would be horrible writing.

Naruto has one of the worst balances of power in shonen, how can you hope she not do so? I mean a bunch of mid-level teenage Chunnin just beat the Naruto equivalent to an admiral in a few chapters when they were just introduced. If Kishimoto can have something like a 16 year old genin beat an Akatsuki(who lived for hundreds of years) with an ol' bushin trick then why not an obscure character, with no back-story revealed except she 'wants to be like Tsunade' beat one of the worlds renowned criminal organization with a gay tactic.
You shouldn't hope for the better with Kishimoto.

well I thought maybe because each heart for kakuz has a different element and the fan controls all elements that if she used the fan she could beat the mask things by using the element there weak against
Why the hell does Kaku need the hearts? He was strong enough to obtain his new hearts already, so why does he need element attacks? He doesn't need to worry about dieing cause HE CAN'T. I'm confused.
