The fact that there are people on this forum and in this debate who honestly believe any network outside of ImaginAsian or something similar would even CONSIDER airing a series subtitled (one targeted at a younger audience at that) renders their opinion on the matter void. They clearly have no grasp of the thinking process of networks and the people in charge of them.
The series won't see the light of broadcast day in North America without the dub, and Funimation treated the english language version of it with the respect it deserves, minor missteps aside (considering what came before it, I honestly can't believe the animosity some have towards the Funi dub).
I can't see this series getting put on an adult block of any kind (it has zero chance of resonating with the adult swim audience), and if anyone is going to bother, they're going to try to put it in a space where as many younger/teen viewers can see it as possible. We're talking Nickelodeon/Nicktoons/Disney XD, or anywhere else where the 8-14 demo congregates (let's face it, that's the audience this show has the best chance with).
As to who might be interested, I think basic cable channels like Nicktoons/XD are the best chance, since those are both spaces that are starving for content to fill their schedules, and they have shown interest in similar programming (Naruto Shippuden, Dragon Ball Z Kai). Granted, with those places, come (hopefully minor) edits, but really, there was no chance in hell of this show getting back on the airwaves without some anyhow. Let's just hope they aren't major.
Seeing as Funi now has roughly 200+ episodes in the can, if they're going to manage to get some momentum on this series, now is the time (several hundred episodes of a tv show ready to go is pretty enticing to channels who need to fill some space). I'm increasingly doubtful as to if any networks are really interested, but if something's going to happen, it's probably going to be announced within the next year. If not, then we're probably going to be doomed to subtitled online simulcasts and maybe more DVDs (if we're lucky).
I hope that we hear something soon about this, because I would hate for this series to lose steam in the states. It has a life and energy to it that no other shounen show has out there, and it has managed to keep my attention over the past 3 years I've spent catching up with the Japanese broadcast (just caught up yesterday whew).
Sorry for the wall of text, but I feel like a lot of fans are harboring unreasonable expectations about the series' future from a mainstream standpoint, and thought I'd chime in.
