Yonkou, saying Kennichi, Mixim 11, Akumetsu and Negima are trash is like saying Bleach is a masterpiece.
Normally I don't tend to agree, but this time TL is right, your taste is horrible :getlost:
-

You should have made things clear from the very beggining. TL misinterpreted and this is the result.
-
It's goofy is what it is. And it makes it more confusing that apparently Fairy Tail and Rave are acceptable in terms of fan-service lol

You're right I gave you guys too much credit. It won't happen again, from now on I spell everything out in bold capitals. HONEST

can someone recommend an anime to me ? I don't like random/gag animes. But other than that I'll give almost anything a shot.

Hourou Musuko.
-
an anime silence. I don't read too many manga's unless I've already seen the show and liked it enough to want to read the manga.
Edit: didn't you suggest lucifer and biscuit hammer? Where that post go ? No my post looks silly.

-
Ever tried Akagi, Kaiji or One Outs?
-
@Thousand:
Ever tried Akagi, Kaiji or One Outs?
yeah I've tried I like Akagi and Kaiji didn't like one outs so much.
any more suggestions ?
-
I just started this and I'm really enjoying it. Thank you.
And I could see the truth in this
by the first chapter.
You're very welcome.
Last year, I was lamenting not having anything to read in my already massive library of titles to a friend when she offered out the Lucifer and Biscuit Hammer amidst a host of other names. When I picked it on a whim and read the first couple of chapters, I came back to her raving about how awesome it was and thanked her for the suggestion.
To my surprise, she revealed she'd been throwing out names from a list of OneManga titles that had just updated when I asked her. Turns out it was a great pick for the both of us!

I want to start getting more into Slayers. Should I go into the anime or the manga?

That's great. Oh man, I just got to the part where you know who is pierced through and dies.. that was fucking heartbreaking. Along with the following chapter with everyone crying.

Yeah man, I really wasn't expecting it. I mean, with how the golems are described you really get a sense that getting hit directly essentially means a human dies. The series does a very good job of establishing their danger. So I mean, yeah, you expect that they'd be able to really hurt you!
But… that death stunned me a bit.

@HiroVoid:

It depends. The anime has a lot more comedy and lighthearted moments in it than the manga and the story also differs to some degree. I started with the anime since it's a every enjoyable watch and shouldn't take too long to get through. Though if you want more background on certain characters and a more serious approach I recommend you read the manga first.
-
okay I had a bunch of stuff I was going to read but lost the list….. so here I ask again, what mangas are good to read, anyone have a list of really good quality mangas
-
I started reading this manga called "Cradle of Monsters". The survival horror and the expressive style is really good. Finish the first chapter at-least. What really got me interested in it was the place/setting the entire thing in set in. Good stuff.
-
Ok I'm seeing the Negima / Reborn / Beelzebub threads constantly bumped. Which one should I start reading first? And why?

Negima. One of the best shonen around and my personal favorite next to One Piece. Doesn't start to get good till around chapter 40 though.
Beelzebub is fun comedy from chapter one.
Reborn started as trash, got good then became trash again.

I can recommend The Slayers and Slayers Next. Of course, it has almost been 10 years since I've watched it, but I fondly recall those series having a sort of proto-One Piece sensibility, except here it's more of a parody of the fantasy genre with some serious moments at the climax.
Although I can barely remember the plot, it was a series that centered around having fun and goofy situations.
Never read the manga.

Well, I have officially completed FMA and I am Extremely Contented. Now I know why it deserves its rightful place among the classics. The anime was also amaaazingg o_o. I have also developed a heightened interest in men with hair like Ed's, if they even exist (I hope xO).
! The cherry on the top is Ed and Winry having their little reunion at the end which warmed my heart after the original series previously harpooned it.
I was like NO FUCKING WAY, Ed and Al end up in Nazi Germany and Winry's left alone on the other side? Fucking hell. Good thing I found out about Brotherhood >_>
! Anyway, I love happy endings.
! One question though: So.. what's with Selim's rebirth? Is he still a homunculus?According to this post I am currently:Berserk, Trigun, Hellsing, Rurouni Kenshin,
Dragonball, Yotsuba&!, Love Hina, Azumanga Daioh(never heard of this),HunterXHunter,One Piece,Yu Yu Hakusho, Ranma 112,Death Note,Full Metal AlchemistCan you recommend which I should start next, according to my tastes?
EDIT: I intend to finish all the MUST-READ classics. The action ones anyway. I'm not so into robots though. -
Can anyone tell me if Zatch Bell is worth it? Or is it a waste of time? I am aware that Viz killed the series before it's proper end but I am more curious if the content is worth reading. Thanks.
-
-
Gash Bell is legit. Great series, son.
-
i recomend everyone EVERYONE no matter what you like or dislike to watch this movie:
Grave of the Fireflies. By far the BEST animated movie i have seen so far. -
I'm still an avid supporter of Gungrave. Grave of the Fireflies, like kuma mentioned above, is a SAD movie. But Gungrave is the only anime that has flat out made me cry. Manly fucking tears.
So go watch that shit. If you've ever had a friend, you will cry.

Zatch Bell is an excellent series.
Definitely recommended.
It ends with such a good feeling of closure…
-
Thanks to everyone above. You guys have made my life much easier.

A slightly-obscure manga that I read recently and loved the shit out of was Great Teacher Onizuka, commonly abbreviated GTO.
It stars Eikichi Onizuka, 22-year-old virgin, who is a former delinquent, violent, gullible, greedy, and a pervert. But he is also, when it comes down to it, one of the most dependable guys there is. He gets a job as a teacher so that he can score with a hot high school girl, but ends up saving a class full of kids with issues and changing the hearts of everyone around him.
there's manliness, aesops ahoy, sad backstories, lots of sexual humor, and a few moments that will make you shit bricks.
seriously everyone, go read it.
-
er…I. think GTO is pretty popular.
-
GTO is very popular, alot of people here know alreadyy about it
-
Don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet, but I've recently started enjoying Suicide Island.
Basically Japan decides to start banishing people that attempt suicide and don't wish to live off to an abandoned island.
Story picks up when they start focusing on surviving on the island.
-
Hajime no ippo best action comedy series I,ve seen thats over 900+ chapters. read the first chapters and you'll almost die laughing
-
^ takamura is one of my all time favourite manga characters.
he's such a winning mix between 'hilarious asshole' and 'world champion' lol. -

-
Noblesse, Witch Hunter & Gamaran. Read them!
-
@metteminne:
wow, this is amazing! can't stop reading!
-
Gunslinger Girl thoughts? Worth my time?
-
It was too moe for me to get into.
-
Can I ask if I should read all of Rurouni Kenshin, because I've really enjoyed the 8 volumes that I've read but some people tell me it goes downhill and becomes really emo or whatever.
I still plan to read the Kyoto arc, which is supposed to be the best arc and from what I've seen it is, but is the whole thing worth it?
I really like Kenshin and Sano I think they're awesome and Shishio is a total badass.

Please, introduce me to those people, because I'm gonna smack their faces.
Kyoto arc is the best arc, but the developments that follow are without a doubt the best of the whole story because it tells you about Kenshin's past life among many other things. Downhill? It gets even better.
-
Well, glad to have your opinion. I would like to read more of Rurouni Kenshin at some point but I have enough series I'm trying to get up to date with as it is, so it might not be for a few months.
On a side note, I'd like to hear some opinions on Gantz because some people have said that it's quite good others have said it's as bad as Bleach. Me, I think it looks pretty crappy I'd just like to hear some more opinions.
I honestly don't like extremely violent, sexual comics, movies or shows. I'll make exceptions for ones with really high quality story and characters, such as Berserk, Oz, Preacher and other Vertigo comics. Gantz does not appear to be one of those exceptions.
Also Pulp Fiction and Scorseze.
-
Gantz is terrible.
-
I used to read it.
Gantz had something going for it early on, but it lost the point pretty soon. I liked how the protagonist was a completely shallow jerkoff who turned his life around through the events of the comic, and the threat of death resulted in you not knowing who was going to survive, making you pay attention to everyone you saw. But the novelty of this wears off soon once the author starts getting a little attached to certain characters and the story starts to amble.
It's still ambling.
It's pretty unfocused, it's not something I would recommend.
-
Gantz is exploitative, terrible junk. Silence is right, but he forgot to mention how the author totally invented breast motion blurs, which the hentai community totally stole.
