Admit it…you were worried and shocked then. :ninja:
Soul Eater COMING TO TOONAMI FINALLY
-
-
Well, Tezca always seemed to have been a schemer that did things his own way from the begining anyway. When I saw him being "defeated" without doing much, I immediately assumed it was on purpose. Soul Eater is unpredictably twisted like that. If all the so called "high teirs" mopped the floor with enemies as soon as they were to appear, then where's the variety?
I didn't miss the point about teirs being more or less important. I just find it silly to expect things and want them right away, like "I should be writing this manga to make it better" or something. That, and the reaction is easy to pick on, especially if the reader acts like there would never be "redemption" for the character in later chapters.
He thought Tezca was dead, was annoyed because he thought it would've been a bad way for a Deathscythe to go, considering the way the rest of the fight went.
And you got on him.
He didn't necessarily want to see TEZCA SHOW OFF RIGHT THERE, and you know it.
And up until this chapter, nobody really knew if he was dead for sure. Up until this chapter, nobody could've confirmed 100% that what TLS was worried about was reasonable or not.
Turns out Tezca wasn't dead, so there was nothing to worry about. But with confirmation that Tezca is alive, it sure is easy to go: "yeah you fools should've known he would get a chance to show his stuff" …after the fact.
-
Reading over the last page again, I realized I misinterpreted. I thought he was mocking the fact that he never shined in the fight, despite being deemed strong. For that, I'm sorry. It tend to mix up previous reactions to current reactions.
-
S'cool brother.
No harm done.
Tezca lives, Noah is back, and Kid and BlackStar will continue to outshine Maka.
The world is in harmony.
-
A shame the fight between Kid and Black*Star took place underwater. It slowed their movements, but the goal wasn't any of them get beaten to death afterall.
-
Erm thanks for the defense Silence though it wasn't really necessary. Much appreciated all the same though bro (can never get used to the fact you're a man).
Yeah pretty much what you said though I think I stated early on that he would be alive rather than just hoping. Whilst this chapter did a lot to alleviate some major problems, ultimately it was a poor showing on the part of the high-tiers (the established strong guys who are supposed to be the best of the best) and a way too easy fight for the protagonists. It would have been one thing if the adults put up a good fight and softened the bad guys up or even if they got taken out quickly due to the element of surprise and the protagonists had the toughest fight of their lives but alas it was a quick defeat of the death scythes and then a quick defeat by the guys who defeated them by the rookie protagonists. Not to mention how disappointing Noah's lack of purpose was even he is a mook and it was lamp-shaded. But whatever, I'll chalk it up as a speed bump for now and hope it won't happen again.
-
Greed Noah fighted by trowing things out and surprissing it's enemies, once these things are in the open the surprise factor (and it's main power) get dimminished.
In the end, I don't care, the author made his reworks one chapter later of the worst offenders, reworks that weren't asspulls (Noah being a minnion being the worst one), wait for next chapter to show stein having the nail rusted, or something sexist as Molly being in her time of the month.
-
So Tezca isn't dead but I got that his meister was. Is that true? And Noah didn't actually die which I guess is good. We got to see a little bit of what Asura and Justin are up to as well as Medusa and Chrona. Tsar Pushka is pretty cool, throwing his head and all.

i have GOT to fucking change my avatar.

Tezca's meister is a Monkey, what I got from the chapter is that the dead one is a dummy, not some dumbass left to die.
Noah did die, we just got a replacement. I hope we never see Glutony, Lust or Sloth Noah.
-
Oh, so the Greed Noah actually did die and this is another sin. Which one is it?
-
16 characters of Rage Noah.
-
Ooh, cool. Can't want.
-
I wonder how Eibon sealed himself. I hope Ohkubo will give some hints where he sealed himself.
Oh btw…why is Maka frequently shown in the colorpages? Is Ohkubo exposing her more or is it just his preference?
-
Same reason her prologue was done first. She's like a lead or main icon, but not obviously the main character.
-
So, this whole arc was an INTRO ARC? …
You know, it technically gets the job done...
But Ohkubo could've paced it a hell of a lot better. -
Oh I see, thanks.
Okhubo should do more of Blaire in human form.

I approve of this statement
If I was good at photoshopping, i'd photoshop Noah with TOC right beside him, Noah wearing ashe's hat and having the book of eibon be turned into a pokedex.
-
Pretty good chapter. I'm curious as to what's happening next in this story.
-
Noah goes to collect more poke'mon….wait that was the last noah.
Now he's gonna go and gather poke'mon to destroy places.
-
No, Wrath Noah goes on to become President of the United States, gets married, and adopts Pride Noah to disguise his origins.
And Soul is the main character, not Maka. The rest are supporting main characters.

If you're basing that on the name of the series.
You're not basing it on much.
Soul has practically faded completely into the background compared to almost any of the other main characters.
The weapons have ALWAYS gotten less development and attention than the Meisters. And Soul is really no exception, almost distressingly. Maka is the main character by leaps and bounds.

Is this supposed to be fma?

You can't deny, though, that compared to Tsubaki and Liz + Patty, Soul has gotten much more character development. As for the Meister's, Ohkubo has done a good job at balancing the usage of Kid, Maka, and Blackstar. Honestly, Kid has been the biggest focus lately, all things considered. I'd say it's about 35% Maka, 35% Kid, 30% Blackstar in terms of the big three.

So you're going back on your Soul is the main character claim?
Also, that's not really saying much, because outside of a single mini-arc very early in the series, Tsubaki has had virtually none and Liz and Patty have had essentially zero. For a main character, Soul sure is ancillary, because he has yet to receive focus as a character outside of a few pages of flashbacks in the middle of Maka's moments of self-doubt.
Instead of the mellow, "cool", "this is how a man is supposed to be" we were presented with in the opening chapters, Soul has been quiet and brooding for the vast majority of the manga. Ever since he lost to Chrona, in fact, Soul has been so mellow and so calm you'd think he never recovered from the shock. Think about it. I'm not sure if this was Okubo's intention, but in more ways than one…
Black Star and to a lesser extent Kid have supplanted Maka and Soul as main characters - in battle prowess, and in focus. But maybe that's just my feeling - it seems we can't go ten chapters without Maka worrying about how useless she thinks she is when Black Star has conquered his character flaws ten times over.
-
I agree with FFA on the big 3 getting equal opportunity's and it does feel like Soul has had the most focus out of all of the weapons.
TBH I would like to see more focus on Ox and Kilik.
-
Black Star and to a lesser extent Kid have supplanted Maka and Soul as main characters
Disappointingly I have to agree.
When I first started reading Soul Eater I enjoyed the fact that the focus was split fairly evenly between the three main groups. Maka/Soul, Black Star/Tsubaki and Kid/Liz/Patty.
But like you say, lately it seems that Black Star and Kid have basically usurped all the other main characters.
Its more annoying for me as Black Star was always my least favourite character.
He always seemed like Naruto without the emo. -
Soul and Maka are the main characters, and therefore it should be obvious and expected they will be the last to get character development.
And talking about their character development, it began with their experiences through the Envy chapter of the Book of Eibon.
-
Will any groups be scanlating Soul Eater Not?
-
-
I wouldn't say there's an explicit main character. Though Maka is probably the most.
-
Maka may be the main character, but not the protagonist, this is a bad example because Naruto is written by a moron, but you can see that Sasuke served as the protagonist in part II far more than Naruto.
When the story revolves around a character, offering progression, depth etc, they have the protagonist role; Maka has little of that.
-
Well, for instance I can't wait for Maka to meet that girl again. Also I think the next chapter should be longer, because 30 pages is okay, but feels short.

As much as evidence points to Crona being female, his/her actual gender has never been specified. Unfortunately, Japanese is a very gender neutral language (there's no gender specific pronouns), so it's still uncertain.
-
I suppose it's less rude than saying "I can't wait for Maka to meet that thing again"
-
I have a little theory.
Each Noah = A part of Eibon
When he was first introduced, he was using the name of Eibon, but was that to hide his true identity? No, Mosquito already knew he wasn't the real Eibon, but what about a part of him?
And now in the latest chapter, Toc says before releasing the statue of rage:
"We can't limit the release of Eibon-sama's knowledge because of such rules (knowledge of madness). New knowledge for the people… to show Eibon-sama's greatness".
And then he invoques Rage Noah.
However, this new one could have a different name. Noah comes from the Ark of Noe, who collected two of every animal, pretty much just like Noah collected many things he considered of value.
So I think this new incarnation should obviously have a whole different name to fit the rage sin. Any guesses?
-
How about: RawR? it's 4 letters just like Noah and it simplifies the meaning of rage/wrath
-
It should be another character taken from the Bible, if we go by the name of the first incarnation.
Oh, and please, someone slap that stupid blogger in the face. Jesuchrist, this is beyond trolling, I can't believe she has a legion of idiots that believe her ramblings. That's it, this is the last time I check that stupid blog!!

Nekketsu provided a downloadable link for SE Not.
http://www.sendspace.com/file/ky50nt
No translated chapter for online reading as of yet. As far as I can tell at least and I'm too lazy to check.

Soul eater not is out at mangastream http://mangastream.com/read/soul_eater_not/58954480/1 :Edit i just read it ,it was alright nothing really special one thing i do wonder though will it eventually tie into the main story or will it just stay on its own?
-
hah! I actually wondered about what the unskilled people do in shibusen…
like, what if there's a guy who turns into like a shitty sword? Or like a frying pan or something? (or able to transform except for the head lol)
This series should be kinda fun and lighthearted compared to standard SE. I wonder how long it'll actually go...
-
Lol, funny chapter. This all happened before the main storyline so I too wonder if they'll somehow be integrated into the storyline now with improved skills. Not in any major way obviously but subtly but if not it's cool where they are too.
It's good we're learning more about the academic process and how you enroll in the school. Now, if it'll explain to us how you find out if you're a weapon in the first place or even a meister for that matter.
-
Soul Eater Not was nice. Not great, but nice. I always wondered how Soul Academy would be from a different perspective with chracters that aren't established from the beginning. I'm curious to see these characters become seniors.
-
I liked it. It was funny since the beggining.
If these 3 girls turn to be seniors in the main story, I could see both meisters alternating to attack using Halberd in a battle. -
"it's kind of different from the threesome i had imagined"
it's different from the one i imagined too. B|
-
I was going to point out that Maka shouldn't be this confident at this point, but then I remembered that she was almost done by the time that the 1st chapter came and Blair ruined her soul score.
-
Hmm, I really liked it. I'm curious to see how they incorporate these girls and their class into the existing SE storyline. And more than that, I would really like it if they had the two stories merge at some point.
-
i lol'd @ black star trying to give her an autograph straight after kicking someone's ass.
-
Wooo Death Pepper. XD
