Though this purely speculation i wonder if there taking hint from one piece and doing something like that considering how epic it is.
The Super Sentai series is a Toei franchise, so the influence is definitely there.
I doubt an anniversary season would be pirate-themed if not for the current status of OP in Japan.
Its not so much that One Piece inspired them, as much as Pirates are really popular in Japan at the moment.
If somehow they did keep going into Gokaiger (the next season in Japan), they could maybe make the older teams like "Power Rangers of other universes" (somehow the theme mentions something about them traveling to "other universes" possibly), thus finding a way to sneak in all Goranger-Jetman series into this mashup. It's silly but it could make it work. (besides, it's pirates…that and considering how certain anime have been homaged in sentai, OP is just so obvious with this)
BTW: the less said about Alien Rangers, the better. That mess sort of made me happy they started the "changing of outfits" from Zeo on. (though it should be fun to figure out how they plan to switch from Shikenger to Goseiger footage considering how it seems "season 2" sounds like an excuse to avoid the whole angel-theme...though I love the whole "monsters based on movies" concept from what I read about it)

Even Goukai Yellow's name seems to be a nod to One Piece: LUka milFFY…get it?

I doubt they will skip Goseiger, but anyway, that wouldn't be a bad move IMO.
While Shinkenger was already hugely popular and awesome - and they're doing the PR adaptation as faithful as possible - Goseiger is pretty bland at best. I honestly don't know how they could save that mess. Maybe turning everything upside down like they did with Go-onger…which i've found far superior to Goseiger.

From some of the spoilers I've been reading, it does seem like there are elements that could make Goseiger work and even better as an adaptation if adapted right…and we know how the MMPR writers have completely overhauled series in the past or placed their own unique twists on them (such as taking a computer-based series like Megaranger and turning it into a space epic) If the writers make Goseiger into even something like "Samurai pt. 2", they can just do the necessary things to keep certain plot points but dump the others to make their own show that could be superior.
Heh...I do want to see Shikenger from what I've heard about it but I still need to find time (and concentration) to finish Jetman.
I thought Doomsday was where the adventures of Jason, Zack, Billy, Trini, and Kimberly (shame Tommy lost his powers, much more sad in Zyuranger when his counterpart dies instead) should have ended like they were going too. During those moments, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers was very faithful to Koryu Sentai Zyuranger. Sure their arsenals differed by the fact that in Zyuranger, the "Battle Bikes" and the thunder slingers (they could even combine these with their blade blasters) were in their main arsenals, while in Mighty Morphin, their battle bikes were just in the background and the "Thunder Slingers" were just another plot device that is used to defeat a group of super putties. Also lets not forget how they would be missing one monster. But other than that, Doomsday is a better place to end Jason, Zack, Billy, Trini, and Kimberly's adventures. Bandora's son was even gonig to have a counterpart named Bubba, who is just going to be monster of the week.
So I guess the countdown to Samurai begins?

Saw a commercial on Nick yesterday so the answer is yes.
February 7Th can't come soon enought
I can't wait for it.
All you uber fans of Power Rangers may enjoy this Super Sentai parody…grossly lacking attention online.

This is great. It's even better that thats REALLY a red lightspeed rescue suit that he modified. I look forward to more episodes and more light being shed on whether the invisibles really exist. Also in other power rangers news we finally got a premire date for Samurai rangers. February 7th at 8pm on nickelodeon.
Shouko Nakagawa?

at least they kept some of the shinkengers transformation scene.

I wonder if they are telling the actors to sound wooden and unemotional and to make as little facial movements as possible, or are the guys they got just that bad? It's a shame too, (granted it's a completely expected shame) because this was a chance to re-invent the series, stick closer to the source material and take things a bit more seriously. After all if they can show DBZ on nicktoons, they can definitely get away with a LOT more in power rangers. But they decided to go a different way with it and i wont say they are wrong for that. My only legitamite gripe is that in the zordon era, the rangers actually tried to be a litte interesting when they weren't fighting. These guys… i can already see the blandness oozing out of their pores.
Bulk Returns for Power Rangers Samurai. Apparently he has a nephew oddly reminiscent of Skull.
It's just not the same without that music!
Tho it is weird to see Bulk has gone from Ponytail to bald.
The music sounds like it was written in the same mood, at the least. I'd say for a 'modern' renewal of the original it does its job fair enough.
Tears of joy are forming in my eyes.
Hopefully they get Skull back as well.
Holy shit, I gotta say, I was skeptical of how Power Rangers would be back with Saban, but it really seems like they wanna do this much better than Disney did.
Great to see Bulk and his nephew. I think he might be the Mr.Brown.

Eh, as cool as that would be, it's been my impression that Narvy was never into it quite as much as Schrier was. Of course, I have no idea what he's doing these days aside from recently getting a PhD in Dramatic Arts.
The actor playing Bulk's nephew said on twitter that he's also Skull's son, so maybe Narvy will be coming back. I can only hope so.
I've been watching the original series lately for a nostalgia bomb, and the fact that Saban really seems to be going all out with Samurai might convince me to give it a shot.
Me might see Skull cameo a few times, but I don't know if he will be coming back all together… his son seems like a way to try and fill the void.

yeah. he now reminds me of my game design teacher. (he's bald too)

Well, that is a little more encouraging. Still, we'll probably only get a one episode cameo or something, if we're lucky.

If I don't have to work that evening I'll definitely be checking out the season premiere.
That last question made the video.
love it. the last series RPM was good but really series from the sentai counterpart. nice to see bulk in old form

the world premiere episode is on the air.
so far, it looks good.
edit: the zords are called folding zords and they gave the rangers armor and a new command room when in the Samurai Megazord.
I watched a bit of it…doesn't seem bad but I really hate it when American shows skip episodes just to get to an episode where it just gets to the action. It seems like it's based on Shikenger ep. 3...and that there is one based on 1 and/or 2 so having Nick just skip there seems like it either was a teaser or more Nick trying to make it fail on purpose since it isn't one of their own shows.
The ranger fandom is crazy to accept those puns. The pun onslaught reminded of 4kids One Piece.
Morphenominal .

i'm content so long as they don't go overboard with the puns in future episodes. i was surprise that they kept Dayu's name intact.

Actually those puns were pretty damn good. I was counting down the minutes untill the end of the episode praying he didnt say something completely stupid. And trust me, we've been dealing with it for years, it was part of the charm of the show at first, now it's just par for the course.
I know puns are a must for power rangers but every other sentance and being thrown at you constantly?
I only caught the tail end of the fight scene, but what I saw was lame.
Incredibly fucking lame.
I've watched old Power Rangers, and it was never that terrible about puns. I'll still give the show a chance because I didn't get to see the entire episode, but that was inexcusably lame.
And the new suits they used for the mecha battle are garbage.
I just finished watching the premiere. It was a tad lack luster and lacking. Personally, I like that Bulk is back with his nephew, though I wanted to know the origin behind 'Sensei Bulk', being that newer audiences whom never heard of Bulk are like, who the heck is this fat guy that is being used for slapstick comedy.
The Ranger's origins I care a little less about, yet I would be good to at least know what we are dealing with and get a general introduction to the characters, or at least their archtypes. The Red Ranger annoyed me a bit, yet I don't quite know why. Same for the yellow ranger at the end, but I think it is because she sounded like a stereotypical blonde.
The Zord, while I hate the individual zords, the Megazord has a interesting design that just grabbed me at first instant. I can't really place it, though I guess because it has more of a normalish zord built (Robot A-Torso, Robot B-Right Arm, Robot C-Left Arm, Robot D-Right Leg, Robot E-Left Leg), compared to more complex buildings of zords seen in later seasons ala Magic Force (though this is just a nitpicky moment).
Also, the villains are unknown to me. Why are they powered by tears (which is awesome mind you)? I really wish to know this. This is why I hate origin episodes being skipped!
Fight scene was stereotypical special monster that can only be beat with special tactic. Be around for ages, didn't matter to me much.
All in all, it was an alright episode, but it would have been better in some sort of context. They could have done a two episode world premiere in order to get the first two out of the way and allow me to at least understand a bit about these 5 teenagers. Also, the theme song is some nice nostalgia I believe, though the vocalist annoyed me a bit.
Also, the episode for those who wish to see it.
I do admit: Bulk and Spike was the best part of the episode. That's probably one of the few things Power Rangers has that regular sentai doesn't. (BTW: I really need to finally finish Jetman and maybe see a few other real Sentai…though with Shinkenger probably fully subbed I may need to try that next)

I'm gonna tell you right now Shinkenger is fucking awesome. So if you are the type of person who will compare samurai strike to shinkenger you're better off not watching it cuz it'll just ruin samurai strike for you. On the other hand Shinkenger IS FUCKING AWESOME. So take your pick.
so now we got rangers that take they shirt now. tryna make teenage girls watch huh. I see u nickalodeon
I think i'mm do an episode by episode review of the series just to break down how good or bad it is compared to the old days and or it's japanese counterpart.

Great!
I do wish he'd "bulked" up though. It was cool to see fat Bulk when he was…woah, 1993 was almost 20 years ago!-but he should be working out and be buff by now, that would be pretty cool. Could still be silly and slapstick but if the bad dudes try to kick him around they get broken hands.
