@Doug:
That is not true.
If the world stopped believing it existed, that doesn't mean it doesn't. Believing in that is like believing in psyhic business. Your idea involves our mental state, and in no way we can mentally change anything physically.
first off, please know that that post was meant for sarcasm. ^^;;;;
secondly, that can be quite true, depending on the individual. it has nothing to do with anything psychic, and it has nothing to do with physically changing using only mental power. no, i wasn't talking about bending spoon with mindpower; i don't believe that at all. what i was talking about was more on whether or not you believe something exists at all.
think about it this way. you touch your mouse. how do you know it's a mouse? because you've been told that it's a mouse. because everyone in this free world agrees that it's a mouse. because whoever made the thing called it a mouse. now, if you decided to be an extreme skeptic, and not believe that the thing you're touching is a mouse, then TO YOU it is not a mouse. to everyone else it might be a mouse, but for you, it is not.
how do you know if it exists? you can touch it. you can see it. you can use any of the five senses to convince yourself that it exists. now take away all of your five senses. you cannot hear, cannot see, cannot feel, cannot smell, cannot talk. how do you know that the mouse exists? if you do not have your senses, no information regarding the existence of something can get to you. without this information, how can you say something exist?
so using that logic, i claim that the existence of something is due to the information that either you obtain yourself using your senses, or someone pass on to you. where is this information stored? in your head, in your brain, in your mind. anything that you claim about something in this physical world stems from your subconscious mind. you believe that the mouse exist because you HAVE SEEN it, you HAVE TOUCHED it, you HAVE BEEN TOLD that it is in fact, a mouse.
now be an extreme skeptic and train yourself into believing that the mouse never exists, which basically means to erase prior information that you have obtained about the mouse from your head, and voila, even though the mouse still exists physically, but your refusal to believe that it exists makes it non-existent to you. it still exists for other people, but not for you.
in other words, this is a theory that if you condense into one line, becomes the usual "you only see what you want to see." XD
to stay on topic: zombie go away~, zombie go away~.
