The anime messed up Hotarubi…

They took the attack name literal… :getlost:
@ <nico:< small="">> I would think that a huge difference between Marco and a Logia is that he actually feels things. He can regenerate infinitely, but it still hurts him, unlike a logia, where it just separates the (element) they're made of. Hence why he was shaken up by Kizaru's beams. He took the hit as hard as anyone would and had to shake off the pain while regenerating. Could also explain why he didn't cut off his arms. If he lost his head or something, and his power is true to the phoenix, he should be able to regenerate himself, since it's the flames of the fruit, which would still be active in the rest of his body. Of course, haki negates all of this.
No: Marco regenerates through HEALING his body with "Fukkatsu no Aoi no Honō"/"Blue Flame of Resurrection" which is in fact a secondary ability of his Mythical Zoan DF. Oda explains this in the Vol. 58 SBS of Chapter 570. This ability is limited.
A logia user regenerates because his body isn't touched at all, even when shattered to pieces. The only exception is Blackbeard due to his unique DF.
@brennen.exe:
Here's my take (hidden below), or at least the most recent post on the matter I can find from me. To sum up, a natural (classical) element, or something created from a blend of natural (classical) elements, would give you a logia. Examples: Fire, Water, Lightening; Smoke, Mud, Magma. A natural substance created by an animal in nature, however, would give you a paramecia. Examples: Wax, Rubber, Poison. Anyway:
I think it much easier. ;)
Just leave the four or five elements Fire, Air, Water … and whatever aside since they're useless to explain the nature of logia powers because in fact only the Mera Mera no Mi fits in perfectly.
I think the logia powers refer to natural powers that humans can't do anything against once they're getting too strong but running and trying to escape.
- Moku Moku no Mi (Smoker): smog (you can't do anything against unbreathable air)
- Suna Suna no Mi (Sir Crocodile): drought (you can't do anything against "being without water")
- Mera Mera no Mi (Ace): fire/flamewalls/blaze (you can't withstand fire)
- Goro Goro no Mi (Enel): lightnings (some may survive though)
- Hie Hie no Mi (Kuzan): extreme iciness (shivering works only up to a certain limit)
- Yami Yami no Mi (Teach): there'd be no life without any light (goes back to the deepest anxiety of life forms)
- Pika Pika no Mi (Borsalino): light can get strong enough to melt steel (don't be too long in the sun or you risk a sunburn)
- unnamed lava DF (Sakazuki): vulcanic activities (run or you die)
- unnamed mud DF (Caribou): mudslides (IIRC they caused a lot of deaths in Japan within the last years after typhoons)
What's left is most likely an ability to create strong winds since tsunamis are created due to vibrations - which are a part of the Gura Gura no Mi abilities like earthquakes.
Paramecia give one single ability: "producing a deadly venom" … "making the body stretchable" ... "producing a hell lot of wax" ... "creating vibrations in general" etc. You can describe most paramecia powers with one short sentence about their ability.
Zoan transforms you into a specific animal - mythical zoans transform you into animals that have a supernatural ability themselves.</nico:<>
