It would be either The Adventures of Lee/Kasashi.

Can't we just have a gag series with Might Guy?
-
I always say they should take lee, guy, killer bee, raikage, kisame, and zabuza and have a series with just them where they fight hordes of zombie sasuke's naruto's and sakura's as far as the eye can see and it's drawn and written by the authors/artists who made berserk and fist of the north star
-
I'm pulling for a post-apocalyptic wasteland setting where Killer Bee travels the land with Lee and that unimportant Hyuga chick to find his brother, the Raikage (Who rules over the hellhole with an iron fist, but with compassion and good intentions) and his wife.

I've seen what this looks like in filler…
...its terrible.
-
Speaking of filler:
the anime episodes are filler till which episode? -
There's that children's Rock Lee series but judging from Chopper's series it'll be filled with toilet/sex humor.
-
It would be interesting if Kakashi, Lee and Gai fight Zombie Itachi.
-
Speaking of filler:
the anime episodes are filler till which episode? That's impossible to answer. Like every other episode is a filler, and there's also filler seasons. And unlike most OP ones, crap is better than Naruto fillers.
-

Wait isn't there another manly character in the division?

You mean Sakura ?
It is VERY likely she/he is gonna stay in the kitchen.

Or just lee & Gai VS the world.

The smartest ninja in Konoha indeed.

Shikamaru could easily be the McGuyver of this series.

This is why Shikamaru is the man.
Badass in EVERYTHING

Shikamaru is the McGuyver of this series.
Fixed it for you.

You know what I just noticed about Naruto as a series?
It's drawn poorly. Not even saying that as an opinion, but as a solid fact. It's so two dimensional, and lacks depth. As an artist, I can see the major difference between something like OP and this clusterfuck of contour that is Naruto

I have to agree.
The worst part about it though is, all things considered, I don't think Kishimoto is a bad artist. I think he just needs to improve his art more or else we may see something like Bench again when Naruto eventually ends.
-
Kishimoto can draw. Looking back at the first issues it doesn’t look all that crappy like nowadays, even though it has some flaws (The scene then the third Hokage died and Jiraiyas body size was totally out of place). He made nice spreads and the panels were more detailed…
I heard he changed from classic drawing to some Manga Studio for the PC?
-
Kishimoto's problem isn't that he can't draw. It's that he no longer makes the effort to draw. He's lost his passion and inspiration and simply churns out whatever he can as fast as he can.
-

That, pretty much.
The art in part 1 was actually really good. Full of camera angles, dynamic poses, shading, (and that included having shading in the black parts of clothing!) depth, and a variety of facial expressions, and fight choreography you could follow pretty well.
Part 2 uses mostly head shots and the same straight on camera angles, and less panels per page, and lacks all the things I mentioned above. He's just not putting in the effort anymore, because he doesn't care. He's clearly CAPABLE of better, there's about 20 volumes that showcase that fact.
Back when Onemanga was around I did a compilation comparing a few pages, I don't feel like hunting around to do it again. The title pages are the quickest and easiest example, you can just sort of look at them and see it degrade. There was like a solid year where the title pages were just headshots.

Absolutely.
If I remember correctly, he actually used to do action scenes moderately well. Nowadays, Kishimoto can only draw panels where the action is pretty bad.
And is it me, or have the recent chapters been more off-model than usual?
-
Yes, that's Sakura in both images. About 430 chapters apart.
Just an example of the art degrade. (not the best example, since the assistants actually put some work into that background. But the character and inking quality is pretty telling.)
-
Sai's brother = Sakura simply fueled.
-
And I thought I was kidding about Sakura being a man.
-
Wow, Sakura actually looked like a girl.
-
Sakura clearly had a sex change in part two in a futile effort to become relevant.
-
Sakura experienced the wrong puberty.

And that's not funny :(

So Sasuke got an Uzumaki and a Haruno in his team?
Interesting.
Maybe Jugo is Kakashi's relative too. -
The way Kishimoto draws hair really pisses me off, since it looks so static and lifeless, when it's really not very hard to give energy and variety to it.
-
Can't you see it's a wig and that sakura is bald ?
-

I have always thought so.
Same for muscles, wrinkles. -
Static and lifelessness is all I see when I look at a Naruto chapter these days.
-
Kankuro is calling out Sasori. Hmmmm…I seem to remember a certain Siberian Husky telling me that rematches wouldn't happen.
-
The only character that Kishi loves to draw is a selfish, whiny, bitchy, obstinate, angsty, annoying emo plot armored brat called Sasuke.
-
@Usopp:

So, they'll be getting a 1-3 chapter emotional battle full of creativity, insight into the characters, past conflict and harrowing action that takes the characters to their brink of ability as opposed to 2 panels mostly off camera then?
And the battle will matter even though Naruto can 1HKO every opponent in the series at this juncture?
Or that the zombies won't be beaten at all and it'll inevitably be Kabuto giving the order that stops them, thus making the entire thing moot?
Good to know.
Kishi has lined up battles and had them happen off camera or end in a page plenty of times before. I mean, Shino taking action that one time against Madara was great. And Rock Lee and Kiba were great alongside Sakura against Sasuke. Or what about when Choji and Ino battled that Akatsuki? And oh, how amazing Hinata was during the Pain arc. Or that time Might Guy and Ten Ten fought their own evil twins? Let's not forget Ten Ten's amazing Chunin exam battle back in part one.
If this war starts and we begin seeing that there will be actual battles, because Kishi has decided to showcase for his LAST arc, THEN its time to get hopeful. I don't have any expectations while its still in the setup phase though. I pretty much expect him to set it up just enough and then say "eh, the anime will deal with it."

Not the most impressive picture, but look at the details. The shading is existent.
-
When ever I read a chapter i finish it off with the image of lee opening the gates at the chunin exam. It kind of evens out the shitty image quality into something tolerable.
In fact we could do with that image right now….
....any volunteers?
-
@RobbyBevard:

You mean Kakazu? Choji and Ino just got in the way. That was all Kakashi.
EDIT: Oh wait, the whole thing was sarcasim. Nevermind.

No, it was a list of the secondary character fights in part 2 and how much they've done.
There's a reason I have no expectations for the war and don't expect Kishi to do anything, even with all the potential he's set up. As lame as the zombie thing is, in better hands it would be exciting to see the robot master rematches. other authors have done similar things before… we'll see how he handles this.
Oh. Lets not forget how great the bone guy vs. Lee/Gaara fight ended originally. "Ha ha ha, I am unstoppab-- Oops, I'm tired. I'm done!"
-
The best fight so far in part 2 is Kabuto vs Anko, such a great fight.
I hope this war is full of fights like that.

Wait didn't he die because his illness made him weaker and it was like a race against time or something? I might be wrong but I thought that was it, that's why orochimaru didn't use his body
