Blackstar action extravaganza, I eagerly await the translation.
Kid is also there, but hasn't shone yet.

Has it been confirmed that the teachers were illusions yet?
@Thousand:
Has it been confirmed that the teachers were illusions yet?
Not yet. Though considering what happens at the end of the chapter, it won't be long before we know.
Enrique is still absent, so my hope for Tezca's life and Ohkubo's writing prevails.
Additionally Jason, Leatherface and Freddy Krueger make a cameo appearance.

Wow Black Star was soo badass this chapter… and badass without stealing the spotlight.
Is this a monthly or weekly manga?
Is this a monthly or weekly manga?
Monthly.
I caught up with the manga last month and this chapter was cool, but a "letdown" from the last one? I mean, the last one was better than this one in my view.
That cerebus black dragon graveyard creature was damn cool looking at the end.
Black star FTW
and kidd stating his own cold killing intent was cool too.
Good Chapter, but it does seem like Tezca is dead….T_T
well the poor guy DID get half his body devoured lol
These last chapters…aren't really doing anything for me. I never thought I'd be disinterested with Soul Eater, but the series has lost much of what hooked me during the Fight to The Death arc.
The art has lost some of its creative lenght in favor of a more clean dull look, and the pacing and panel usage can - dare I say it- remind me of Bleach.
That the story is in a fight!-->Fight!-->fight! slump against some guy with a cap who wants to rule the wooooorld mwahahaha doesn't help.
i love constant fighting, so this has all been eye candy for me :ninja:
This arc is placing the groundwork for the young generation to become the next great council that will bring order to the world. I can't understand the feelings of boredom some of you feel, because the story is slowly establishing our heroes into their ultimate selves.
Those who are expecting things to wrap up fastly… well, shame on you. And whoever questions the artstyle should take a good look at this spread from the previous chapter:

Maybe, but something tells me they're gonna get stomped by that dragon. We must remember as well that Enrique, Tezca's meister, is still missing.
So much content for just a less than 30 pages chapter.
And I hope I'm not the only one who recognized the dragon's heads.
Pretty decent chapter, and Justin will once again betray his team and go on to be nothing more than a lame irritation,I'm just ready for his death.
Hee hee…nothing too amazing, but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate a good ol' fashioned fight. And I too loved that Cerberus thing at the end. I also want to know what else Noah will pull from his book. Also looking forward to seeing the Kishin again.
Another note: Glad to have you on board Kai. Great avatar.
This arc bad, how it's shown more back stories, character development, the whole argument over power between kid and black star was just fucking brilliant, plus it played in great with there character personalities
I thought this arc was golden, well except for the kids being better than their masters now but it always has to happen at some point
although to be fair this chapter did nothing for me, but the other ones were great in my opinion
The students surpassing their teachers? This monkey will say the last word about the issue…

that really shows nothing
and the fact that there beating the shit out of noah's top level creatures when there masters stood no chance kind of shows they surpassed them unless it all ends up being an illusion from the mirror thing and none of them were really dead or hurt to begin with

Tezca already displayed his afterimage skills before. It bugs me members of elite, experienced meisters and death scythes would step into the enemy's area unprepared and, why not, reacting to Tezca's supposed death as if it were something they would expect to happen.

agreed this is what I think will probably happen but we will have to wait and see if this is true first, so although I believe it will happen it seems like (for what we know right now) that they indeed surpassed there masters

Beating that giant graveyard-three headed dragon will determine your thoughts right or wrong
BTW, it's more like a doppelganger: http://www.mangareader.net/157-45081-22/soul-eater/chapter-69.html
Is Chrona a guy or a girl? He said he isn't good with girls and always seemed like he's male to me but is referred to as she in the scans I'm reading. They're not very good, though, so that might be the reason.
And does anyone know how good the America release is? I'm interested in picking it up.

this is a mystery that that's kept a mystery for joke purposes, from what I remember they don't ever refer to chrona with a specific gender the scanlators just have to chose one so they pick there preference
it's kept vague for some reason we don't know and i don't know if we'll ever know
That's cool actually. I wish there was a gender neutral pronoun besides it in English. Because referring to a person as it is really strange.

Yeah agreed, Idk what you'd say though…. it would be cool if someone made a word up for the situation

I have all four currently released volumes and there pretty good they have some swearing but its not excessive there are no art edits from what ive seen either. the only few things that i don't like but aren't necessarily bad are the few random japanese words you'll see every now and then and im not talking about the honorifics i don't mind those they'll just have a random sayonara here and a random oneechan there and that kinda gets annoying but that's about it if you dont mind those few things then there great.
Do they edit the sound effects? As long as there's only a few Japanese words here and there it's fine.
No all of the japanese sound effects are intact and have very small translations next to them.
Nice. I'll have to flip through a volume or two the next time I go to the book store.

That's the key word right there. In a monthly series, you need to keep the chapters packed to keep the story flowing. Just compare this to some of the alter FMA chapters. And SE used to stick to small bite-sized arcs (Brew was what, 5 chapters?).

Those who are expecting things to wrap up fastly… well, shame on you. And whoever questions the artstyle should take a good look at this spread from the previous chapter:
That spread has absolutely nothing on this one.
http://www.mangareader.net/157-10160-48/soul-eater/chapter-15.html
The first one is well drawn and all, but has no SE vibe and is fairly generic. The second one oozes SE.
As for this entire arc…it's had its moments of good humor, and excalibur is as always awesome, but the whole "7 sins" deal as well as Black Star vs Kid felt ultimately pointless in the end. Girikos final fight was awful, and for a figt between two insanity powered individuals, Black Star vs Kid was pretty underwhelming compared to say, Chrona vs Maka.

Perhaps because the arstyle evolved? Comparing the drawing between ch. 15 and the laters, seriously…. :wassat:

The arc has not ended yet if I should remind you, and don't dare to compare two characters who had control on themselves with two completely insane characters who were out of control, please.
That's all. Whatever, I'll respect your oppinions.

I always thought Chrona was a guy
Yeah, I always imagined he was a guy as well.
I always imagined that she was a girl. But who knows with that kid honestly.
Chrona is a girl. Because she is one. A girl. That who she is.
Supposedly.
Chrona is a girl…I think...
Anyway, pretty cool chapter. LMAO Kidd got hit by a statue. Was that suposed to be humorous because it sure got a laugh out of me. I can't believe the teachers were beaten so easily even if taken by surprise. The students should not be doing this well if the teachers were slapped around like fodder just a few moments ago.
Perhaps because the arstyle evolved? Comparing the drawing between ch. 15 and the laters, seriously…. :wassat:
When the artstyle loses its personality and vibrancy in favor of a more generic, clean look I would call that DEvolving. Bleach style.
And it being a chapter 15 spread means that it's automatically a worse drawing how? Are you seriously saying that the old spread is not more interestingly drawn and hella more dynamically composed than the newer?
Detail isn't everything. Soul, excuse the pun, is what is present in the early spread.
The arc has not ended yet if I should remind you, and don't dare to compare two characters who had control on themselves with two completely insane characters who were out of control, please.
Because them being in control is boring. The "insanity" powerup used to come with awesome visual side effects, where you could see the effect of insanity (Crazy Maka, Piano playing Soul). Now characters just DB activate it like a switch to buff up. "I'm stronger now! Also, I guess I'm insane, but it wont show or affect me in any way."
holy hell it was already explained about Chrona's gender ambiguity, why are you still arguing if it's a guy or a girl?

It doesn't really matter: Chrona is a trap either way.
I actually really liked the new chapter. I loved seeing Kid back in action, and I completely freaked when they used madness. I'm about ready for this arc to wrap up, so seeing them in the final fight with Noah is getting me excited for the conclusion. This fight with Noah might last another 2 or 3 chapters though, so we still got a few months before this arc ends.
Said by the author: "I don't know about Chrona's gender, nor I care".
And happy we are with it
