I don't claim that I can read Japanese, but the only fruit I can see the text mentioning is the Mera Mera no Mi (メラメラの実). Maybe it says that Marco's fruit resembles it or something.

Which is basically what happened during Impel Down/the war.

I don't know that much japanese, but what I could read was "Fushichou wa Mera Mera no Mi". Phoenix is Mera Mera no Mi. But I don't know about it. After Oda saying Sengoku had a Hito Hito no Mi, I don't know what to expect anymore xD

That's in an SBS, not data book.

Proto designs, the cover stories, and romanizations are in the data book, though.

Not a serious theory at this point, but Oda did say if a human ate the hito hito no mi it would mean enlightenment. Now that we know there's other models to the fruit…I still can't think of another that Vegepunk could reasonably have eaten. In any case enlightenment could mean greater understanding of the physical laws government the universe and thus would provide the seeming genius ahead of his times that is Dr. Vegepunk.

Only other option I could see is a time travel DF (Do not think it is this) which would make him literally a scientist from the future. I pretty much completely hate this theory of course.

He becomes fully flaming phoenix. Obviously..he can also look like a normal bird as we saw when he attacked Akainu….where only his wings were made of fire...the rest of him was a normal birdy..
I'd love to see what his phoenix form looks like without it being full flaming form...

No one has mentioned this page so far so I'm not sure if this sketch of a map is old news but it's the first time I've seen a sketch of the path they took thru East Blue. Also something about the World Government and a place called "King's Pau-" or something, it's cut off.

I also love that Oda-sensei even takes notes in English (as one who spends his working days trying to get Japanese kids to do anything in English, it's gratifying, hehe), even if he still has issues with L's and R's. Unless he really means it to be the Glandline… 偉大なる汗腺?

It's old news. Those two places are pointing to somewhere by the Red Line, I assume.

As it's the only version of it we have in English and it's from a data book with Oda's name on it, it is the current official spelling.

Unless/until Oda draws something in the comic that contradicts that, that's the English spelling.

The 'Well I don't personally like that so HUMPH!' argument does not apply.
