clause confusion. He's saying that Takehiko Inoue is a good mangaka. I agree. But why did Slam Dunk just end like that?
it was ended prematurely by inoue.
apparently, he got into a lot of disputes in its final days with his editor or the shonen jump editors or something.it's been mentioned that he wanted to put more time and effort into the stories and art, which would take more time, but the higher-ups just wanted him cranking out more chapters regardless of quality because it was a HUGE series at the time. dunno how true that is, though.
maybe, with his uber-detailed art, he just couldn't keep up with a weekly schedule anymore and got into a lot of arguments with his editors over that.
Also, it's a children's comic from Japan.

Yes, I understand. I don't really find it anything abominable, however. It's markedly better if you're more familiar with the author, in which case it's sort of a neat look at where he once was (with undeveloped ideas that only vaguely shine through). Without background knowledge on the author, it may seem worse obviously, or maybe pointless, but it's still nothing really bad. At its worst, it'd just be 28 pages of a guy fingering a girl and then being promptly discarded. And even then most of it is just erotic imagery.
It's just honestly a bit much for people to start making lists of how their lives will never be the same because they read a one-shot that didn't really go anywhere, as a joke.
I'd also like to point out that I'm pretty sure it is related to another series of his, in which case it's not nearly as pointless or undeveloped as it seems. But that would be basing it on the idea that the character is in something else.
Edit: Nevermind, it was a short story in a collection of them. It was a great collection. Besides, on second thought I'm not going to try to downplay 197X's quality, as I still think it's solid, even if it wasn't Naoki Yamamoto. I'm standing against your hive-mind.

I didn't find it surprising or bizarre but plainly pointless and didn't quite make that much sense story wise. And yes, I don't tend to read erotic.
I am more interested in Horror, Humor and Adventure with something Romantic thrown in now and then.Speaking of Romantic, two Romance mangas annoyed me in the past: Skip Beat and one I currently can't recall the name of. It had a teacher with his kid and a student of his who looked just like his deceased wife or something…
Skip Beat started out pretty interesting but at a certain point, it got pretty bad... I hate it when mangas with potential go down the drain a certain number of chapters after. Just like Inuyasha and Air Gear. -

It wasn't surprising too much within the story, but without any warning that I was going to be reading porn, that transition caught me off guard, even if it wasn't random. It was entirely pointless though, like most hentai actually marketed as such. -

I found Samurai Deeper Kyo somewhat enjoyable, if only for the way the fights were drawn and for some of the secondary characters. Otherwise I agree with every other critique of it that's been made.
As for series that I would never recommend, I'd have to say that Alice 19th is the only one I can think of at the moment that hasn't already been mentioned. The idea was a good one, but the execution was horrid.

I admit at first I liked it mainly because there was one character I thought was really cool (Ball, yeah he's called Ball how prophetic) and that I'm a low standards clod, but upon reading it a second time I realized how utterly awful it actually is
It's like Hunter X Hunter with multiple sclerosis
