So it is not a 3-D movie, but a CGI animated movie? Also, by the looks of it, it doesn't look like if it is about Marineford at all…
One Piece 3D
-
-
oh THAT kind of 3D.
Well that'll definitely age well
-
Well, it is not about Marineford. As far as I know, someone translated the scan and said that Luffy lost his strawhat and they all went looking for it.
-
Ugh, I rue the day all animated shows convert to pure CGI. I mean it looks god-awful compared to good old drawing (with some computer help)+ a dab of CGI here and there.

Sigh of relief Thank god its not 3D. One Piece shouldn't be attempting 3D. It just wouldn't work. So does this technically count as a movie movie?
Edit: The picture of them in 3D gives me nostalgic feelings of the Grand Battle series.
-
3D? Monkey D. D. D. Luffy? XD
Ok, I'm out of here…
-
Oh shit… One Piece Movie 11 is a... CGI movie?
Please no!
-
Oh, that kind of 3D.
Well, that killed my interest in whatever this is. In my experience, whenever anime attempts to implement large amounts of CGI, the result is awful coughGONZOcough.
-
You just know they're gonna whore out Nami and Robin's tits with the 3D. Movie 7 Style.
I liked the 3D CGI style they used for 'Bon Voyage'.
-
A bit of a step back to be set pre-Sabaody now though isnt it?
The hype will be over the new crew and even the anime should be mostly caught up if not caught up by then
-
Well, it's a double feature, so it'll be 45 minutes long like movies 1-3 were. Perhaps even shorter, considering it's cgi.
If anything, i think Toei and Shueisha are using OP to hype the Toriko animation. Heck, maybe Toriko will replace DB Kai in a near future. -
That's right, double feature. I don't know why I was thinking crossover. Although I bet Luffy can out eat Toriko.
-
Maybe it's both kinds of 3D. :U
-
Well I am reliefed though not really happy.
I want a cool animated, original story. Am I asking for too much? -
CGI!? re you serious!? CGI movies such the day after they were made! No please no!

Whoa new op movie 11 looks like shit, congrats. Fukken 3D.

One Piece 3D won't be good in 3D unless it's done by Pixar…..
Don't flame me plz.

IS CG OR 3D?????????????

That would be epic. Imagines Luffy all Pixar'd out, realistic hair and everything, but still looking cartoony

CGI anime doesn't look right, most of the time. In games, it's acceptable, because that's all they can do, but for a movie?
I'm much more excited about the Toriko one, personally.
-
Jeeze
I clicked on the link and had all pr0n links and statements on it - I'm at work I don't need that flagging my internet usage thanks. Whats wrong with imageshack or photobucket?
Imageshack flip the picture, and photobucket shrink it….that's pretty much the reason...

Here's something - what if it's CGI and 3D?

Here's something - what if it's CGI and 3D?
That might be great !
Imagine, the Sunny flying at you after à "Coup de Burst" !!!!
-
I think it'll be in 3D because the 3 is written in Red and the D in blue, the same as the glasses, so it'll probably be an anaglpyh movie

I said that pages ago.
No one noticed. :<

This will either be really cool or really horrible.
-
It won't be nearly as popular as Strong World, definitely, but we can hope for satisfaction, at least…
-
-
If those asshats make it in fucking CG , then those bastards will feel my wrath .
…..I realy hate CGI nowadays .

Too true. Avatar must be the most overrated movie of all times.
They should focus on a good plot instead. Besides, they cannot ask Oda to write the story each time. Otherwise, the manga will end in 20 years.
-
I agree that 2D animation is preferable over CG, especially for anime, and I hope 2D anime is always more popular and keeps on.
That said, as a novelty and since it'll probably be a shorter length, this could be fun, I look forward to checking it out. Just don't do it again.
-
Ya gotta wonder who the animators will be, I'm guessing the regulars, but are they used to doing full-on CG stuff?
-
Calm down.
Christ, everyone getting their panties in a knot without knowing everything.
-
It does not appear to be 'One Piece Movie 11'. At least it has NOT been advertised as such. Instead it has been advertised as 'JUMP HEROES FILM'.
-
It would appear to be a double feature. Toriko + OP
-
At least part of the story centers around the crew searching for Luffy's hat onboard Sunny that he seems to have lost.
-Appears to be a bird or bird DF user involved given the mysterious shadow. Perhaps related to how Luffy lost his hat.
- Oda said he wants OP films to be released every two years a la SW. That would mean the earliest the next film would come out would be December 2011.
Proceed.

Sounds a little bit like the Dragonball special they streamed a while ago. Do you know what medium it's gonna be in? Tv, Stream or Dvd?

It's a theatrical release given how it's being referred to as a film.
And yeah I think some people here are being awfully pessimistic about this when it was just announced in a magazine. I mean yeah CG from Japan isn't usually that great but at least they're trying something different (although different might be why people are complaining), and more importantly we haven't even seen this thing in motion, let's wait till then. From the first screenshots it certainly doesn't look as good as the CGI animated we're used to, but hey it's like I mentioned earlier.
Unlike Greg though, I really believe this is "One Piece" movie 11. I mean what is considered the first "One Piece" movie was also part of a double feature and happened to be short, why would this be any different?

Because today OP is the highest and fastest-selling manga in history with a movie that broke records left and right last year. Despite their cheapness, I don't think even they can get away with that.
JUMP usually takes these opportunities to paste 'THE XXth XXXXXXX FILM!!!' all over advertisements and yet I don't see that mentioned anywhere. Plus, Oda said he wanted movies released every two years and when this is released it'll only have been barely over a year.

I don't think being more popular has anything to do with it, I just think being released in theaters at least once, and I say at least once because you may be right, is enough for Toei Animation and Shueisha to make some good cash.
And yes Oda said he wanted the movies every two years, but he may not have meant it literally. Movie 10 came out in 2009, this will be released in 2011, so that counts in my book.

If the plot is good why not ? Nowadays, when I see "3d" I get pissed. One Piece never needed any 3d to be awesome. The walk to Arlong Park will remain my favourite One Piece despite having lower animation quality and it is still awesome today.
However, we have not seen the movie yet. They may alter the cgi. We cannot give a conclusion yet.
Judging from the advertisement scan. I am not very optimistic on the art style. The characters look more like PS2 character models, they looks crude. They do not seem to be using cell shading. Even Naruto ultimate ninja storm game on the PS3 is better looking in terms of being faithful to the characters.

Exactly, if the plot is good. "One Piece" didn't need any reason to be in any particular dimension, it just happened to be a great story that was originally imagined in 2D. Now the plot may for this movie may not be very good, but I don't think it'll have anything to do with being in 3D, I mean we've seen some crappy "One Piece" stories that were in perfectly animated 2D.
I'm not getting a bad vibe from the screenshots, but not a good one either. It looks kind of flat and unpolished, but the character designs seem perfectly fine. Hopefully by the time I see it it'll be better or there'll be other good qualities that'll let me overlook it.

Wait… Am I going to be watching a very long cut scene? Sorry.

Wait… Am I going to be watching a very long cut scene? Sorry.
As a Metal Gear Solid fan, that doesn't seem so bad to me.
But yeah, hopefully this is just something to tide us over, and they'll have a another animated epic on screens in a couple years.
-
Sorry to bump an old thread, but we have more info. The title is "One Piece 3D: Strawhat Chase" and there is an official website with a new poster-kinda thing.
-
I thought that looked like an ad for a movie at the end of the new chapter. Not sure how I feel about this one…
