I've only read/watch Dragon Ball, Trigun, and Hellsing. I don't care for Hellsing, and, by extension, Alucard. So it's between Goku and Vash. I'll go with Goku. They're both really awesome protagonists, but Goku slightly nudges ahead for making up a big part of my childhood.

as robbo said before, the reason a Jojo wasn't added to the list is because every main character of that series is awesome in their own way.

judging their strengths and weaknesses was too tough. sure I could have gone with Jotaro, but it's impossible to measure the awesomeness of an entire family bloodline with just one character.

Goku on the other hand has surprised me. I really thought Kenshiro would have destroyed due to the amount of people here who like him. But I guess I was wrong about that. However, Goku does deserve his spot on the list, so shaddap about it.

Second place is now the spot to watch.

And yes, Krauser came outta left field. But I swear, if anyone has ever read Detroit Metal City, then you'll understand how amazing he is. I cannot stress this enough. It's probably one of the funniest series i've ever read, that runs on a simple formula that works every single chapter.

I know of Guts, Kenshiro and Ogami Itto, but never got to reading/watching them.

Everyone else except Goku, and Kenshin, I haven't finished their series or am not caught up for that matter.

Kind of disappointed that Goku is winning. I mean I know that a lot of people know him but in reality he is a bad person overall. He is a bad father for abandoning his son and a horrible friend by leaving them too in order to do something else. He may be all powerful and stuff but not a good person.

True, but the whole reason for me voting for him is from his adventures as a kid, he was pure-hearted then (and still is) and his character was great. Z just kinda turned him around making him fight and fight and fight. Then they gave him the excuse that he was a saiyan and that saiyans love to fight. Thus him leaving his son and going places. If the poll had an option for Kid Goku or Z Goku then I'd definately pick Kid Goku. Dragon Ball is just so much better than Z.

I agree with this. Sure Goku neglected aspects of his family life. But that harks back to when he was
a child, he is naive, incredibly dumb - he doesn't really know how to be a father, those kind of things.

Goku had to save the world a hundred times over. He leaves with Uub because
he's putting the future of millions of lives, not yet born, over his family's.

Gohan and Goten etc have aready been burdened by constant fighting, turmoil. Goku wants whole generations
to come to have a completely peaceful life because he knows it's too late to give that to his own family.
