@Strixic:
It's a shame that some people are dissing it because of the crappier entries, when there's plenty of well thought out, clear and clever entries to look at… they're extra interesting if you're a writer.
There are moments where TV Tropes truly does shine. However, due to its remarkably narrow entries, despite how it is supposed to be brutally well-organized, you'll often find things overlapping or being squeezed into departments where they don't completely belong. It makes for a majority of the articles that are sub-articles to begin with really messy.
There's also cases of trying to force in the idea of a "trope" to some place where it doesn't really belong for the sake of making a new article, with other things that could have fit better elsewhere being launched into it.
It's a fun site though the first few times you go through checking it out. But mostly nowadays it's just a site where "every single everything ever" is painstakingly defined if it shows up in more than one area for the sake of categorization. This was sort of forgivable at first since really, it was just a fun little diversion of a site for an afternoon, until I realized there's also a lot of people on TV Tropes that actually take their site seriously and believe it to be a well-established information source. Which is kind of sad.
