looks like another shitty opening is on its way just from me having one glance at that bands picture.
-
The band formed with all the members wanting to one day be chosen as the series theme for OP which is a series all of them have read from children.
I'll still say they look/sound like Generic J-Band #9798679 but you have to seriously respect their devotion to the series and motivation.
The polar opposite of the horse shit we've had for the past half a year or so.
-
Reading that… wow.
My hopes are renewed, it sounds like they really put their all into it.
-
It's a dream comes true for them! Congratz.
They love One Piece. It's all that matter.
-
Generic J-rock band song is fine IMO. If done well, it's the sort of music that most people are okay with.
-
Whatever it is, I'm sure it'll grow on me, hope it's catchy though.

What's the letter saying? I can't read in Japonese! =/

In so few words, "We deserve to provide an Opening for this animation more than any group in the show's 10+ year history."
Seriously, there's nothing groundbreaking that requires it be translated in entirety but they are extremely grateful for the opportunity, they worked for a long time to get this chance and it's something they've put a lot of effort to including some things I'd like to mention on the podcast that I read in the recent magazine article. They thank their family and friends for the support and they have complete confidence in their song being worthy of OP.
It's a letter from the heart and sounds more true than anything Yaguchi Mari ever spewed or those Korean Backstreet Boys. Seriously, at JF two years ago, they didn't even know the characters' Japanese names. One member described Usopp as, "The guy with the long nose…uh...uh...I know his name in Korean!"
-
YES. The last opening was rubbish D:

"you can't judge a book by its cover" comes into play here. I really did misjudge them. Typical, i have shitty intuition. My expectations have gone up a bit. They'll make an opening song on the fans perspectives which can only be good.
-
Oh I have zero expectations for the song.
But it makes my heart happy that this group was given such an opportunity.
That's how it should be.
Compared with the cross-promotional spew we were subjected to last time, this is a complete 180. And Avex and Toei are to be commended for that.
-
I do like Kaze wo Sagashite as a song, but it just doesn't fit the feeling of One Piece. Especially the point where we are right now. I look forward to the new opening ^^
-
Thanks for the translation, Greg.

So in other words, you expect it to be crap. But crap with good intentions.
Sounds fair enough.

Can't be disappointed if you dont have expectations!

One man's crap is anothe man's…fertilizer?
I expect everyone and their uncle to go bonkers over the song.
And who knows, MAYBE it will be good.
But me? Just hearing a few clips of them on YT, they sound like every other Japanese slacker band. Which there are...a lot of. At first it's like, "Wow! These guys are great!" Then you hear another, "Woah! These guys rule!" Another, "Hmmm okay. That's cool, but something new please?" Another, "Okay that's enough." Another, "Make the hurting stop." And then you're dead on a cheap hotel floor.

Any examples, Please?
Couldn't find any of their songs on youtube.
-
I expect a lot of fighting scenes in the opening.
-
I wonder if it can beat Share the World…
-
I wish they would go back to 1:30 songs with endings.
-
@Kairouseki:

You aren't the only one… A lot of the endings were even better than some of the openings.
Anyway, I guess I'm looking forward to the new one. I'm glad to hear the band likes One Piece so much.
-
The only endings I really liked that much were "Run Run Run" and "Dear Friends". The others have way too many animated still-shots. It worked for the Merry though.
And no, I don't really have to know if the second ending was derived from crazy sex too.
-
Shining Ray and Eternal Compass are my favourite endings.
-
Shining Ray and Eternal Compass are my favourite endings.
Eternal Compass/Pose (I don't know, I think Compass is right…) is my favourite from all endings. It was good to remember "everything" seeing only an ending.
-
Youtube says it's "Pose", so it's probably true.
-
Episode 1-278: Opening 1:50 + Ending: 1:10
Episode 279-283: Opening 1:50, No Ending
From Episode 284: Opening 2:30 + Intro 0:30, No Ending
So… Endings, please back!
-
We're all wondering back to the memories of the endings.

About the video… I would like it to be sth like this .
c_vcq4ACEnE
..withLuffy - Ichigo
Yamamoto - Whitebeard
Shinji - Akainu
Aizen - Blackbeard
Gin - CrocodileTousen/Komamura - Sengoku/Garp
…and battle highlights from..
Crocodile vs Donflamingo
Mihawk vs Vista
Jinbei vs Moria
Marco vs Kizaru
Ao Kiji vs Jozu
Akainu vs Whitebeard
..and Luffy vs Garp clashing fists ending
That would be awesome. -
Wasn't supposed to be more news about the song on chapter 592?
-
@Alexander:
Thanks.
Nice, I like some of their songs.
-
I'd say Shining Ray and Tsuki to Taiyou were my favorites.
From the picture in the magazine article it looks like Luffy's about to do some navel gazing. Or he's in one of those ''standing solemnly with hair blowing in the wind'' shots that are often used in openings during ''important characters/loved ones'' montages. Shame the storyboard next to the guy is too small to make anything out.
-
Shining Ray is my absolute favorite, but i really like Mirai Koukai and Asu wa Kurukara too.
The others have way too many animated still-shots.
Pretty much 95% of anime endings are composed of still shots or barely noticeable animation. The remaining 5% are otaku-oriented dancing sequences.
…hopefully OP will never need that.
-
The Kokoro no Chizu opening and the Free Will ending were the ones I really loved
Then again I'm a girl, so maybe it's my sentimental nature getting in the way :V
-
Glory ~kimi ga iru kara~ will always be my favorite ED.
-
Tsuki to Taiyou is my favorite ending. <3 Although, Free Will and a few others are a close second…
-
Shining Ray's my all-time fave. <3

Since when does this thread become "Which Ending do I like"?
Just curious. And didn't someone said that there are new infos about the opening after episode 458?
-
^lol i thought i was on the wrong thread for a moment because of that.
Anyway, only 4 days left. Can't wait for the new song. I'd really like if some teaser leaked but I seriously doubt it.
-
I never really listened to the endings more than a couple of times each but I think that 2:30 is much too long for an opening.
-
^ Anyone who watches One Piece would agree.

Eh, I guess that's true. I have this really biased thing against using too many still-shots in one product due to the fact that everyone does it.

Heh, your avatar matched your post. That gave me a chuckle.

Your riiiiiight, only 4 more days. =_=
Well it was 18 days when we first learned about it so that's better? ;p
Why Not 4 More Minutes- -!
That'll happen too :ninja:
-
I feel like I'm the only one who likes the one we have right now.
It's catchy.
