@JERK:
The translation may work, I'm saying the logic of that being how the power works makes zero sense.
Kuma's fruit works around creating pressure, he blasts people with precise pressure to aim them at things.
How could the thoughts of the user have anything to do with it. It has nothing to do with the Paw Paw fruit.
Just because the influence that Kuma's power has over air seems to involve pressure does not mean that his power uses pressure.
The way that I interpreted Kuma's power is that it quickly and immediately sends the influenced object/thing/person where it wants to go.
Anything gaseous, as anyone who has gone through grade school (at least in the USA) will know, tends to fill up its vessel. In other words, gas hates to be around anything, even itself. Gases always expand to be as far as possible from anything that they can interact with.
When Kuma shoots his paw prints through the air, I interpret that as his paws causing the gas in immediate contact with his paw to go exactly where it wants to go: away from his paw. Thus, the paw shaped air bullet thingy.
Even when he is touching rocks and other inanimate objects, these things would feel the force from his hand and "want" to be pushed away. That's why his paw sends them flying.
Now, when it comes to sentient beings, the power may exhibit itself in a more subtle way. Perhaps if Kuma were not to ask his "If you were to go on a trip, where would you like to go?" then the person would simply go flying like any other object, since they really just don't want to be hit/touched by him. But, because Kuma did ask that question, the person thinks about an exact place where they would really like to be, and thus the power sends them immediately there.
Now, I can't think of a reasonable explanation for Robin and Brook, per se, but the others seem pretty obvious:
Luffy always wants to be where he is least allowed. Reference Skypeia arc when the Vearth is first mentioned/introduced. Thus, Amazon Lily.
Ussop always wants everything easy and within reach, thus the islands of plenty.
Franky is most interested in technology, especially with respect to blowing things up, thus the island where the world's greatest genius was born.
Zoro is most interested in training and swordsmen, thus this mysterious island with a scary swordsman.
Nami is most interested in weather, thus the sky island where weather is studied.
Sanji is most interested in maidens, thus the island where everyone has the heart of a maiden.
Chopper is less obvious, but I like the idea that others on this forum have had, that he went to an island where only he could be the hero and help everyone get along with each other.
And that's that. I am sure that Jerk Disease won't be thrilled that I'm quoting him/her and will respond with vicious aggression, but I had to submit my two cents.
[edit] Oh, so I guess the bottom line is that I don't think that Kuma has to know where the victim gets sent flying. I'm pretty sure he doesn't, actually, and can only tell the general direction they go in, from feel/sight/whatever.
[edit #2] Oh, and why the fuck does the power need to be logical? What is so logical about fruits with super secret special powers that when you eat them can turn you into animals, or fire, or rubber, or make you shoot slow/love beams?
[edit #3] Anyway, while you often make me crack up, Jerk, you really can be a… jerk when it comes to considering others' points of view.
