here is my theory updated
The war has ended, there are now the marines that have all been back to where they are stationed based on Garp being back home. So now it is a viable time for the WG to look at their remaining resources or see where they can spare resources to now go on the offensive again.
Now I'm not sure on what exact reason will be for attacking Amazon Lily, that isn't part of my theory. It could be a multitude of things from:
! 1. Now the new age after WB's death the WG is now more aggressive and best way to show that is start by taking out a pirate nation that has been around for centuries.
2. Retribution for what Hancock did during war (Sentamarou, or Smoker) or they made the Impel Down connection
3. Just getting rid of her for some other reason (see Moria)
4. Find out or guess that Luffy is hiding out there.
but anyway on to theory, point is my theory revolves around AL being attacked.
Now on to the defense of Amazon Lily. it has been near month or will be. I'm going to guess something like a Buster Call is sent, the leaders of this call I'm not confirming on. I did believe it would be Doflamingo, because of his involvement with Moria would make sense he would be sent after Hancock, and also being Doflamingo ties to slavery would make for an emotional encounter both that and his fruit of control. Now with Rayleigh there it almost seems like we have to sub an Admiral instead.
Lets say we send a Buster Call and also send an Admiral if Rayleigh is still there, or else Doflamingo. Rayleigh could give Luffy a few things to ponder and then head off, or sit on sideline and not fight like Shabondy, who knows. Doflamingo for reasons I already stated he already was seen taking orders to eliminate Moria so understandable he may do same for other warlords, and also an arc dealing with not only WG, but a man who not only has ties with slave auction, but also has a devil fruit that allows him to essentially have control over anothers body would be great stuff to bring out and emotional impact to Hancock, also potentially revealing her slave mark to all the amazonians.
But on to Battle. The Buster Call arrives all sea coated and mostly all in tact, with a Sea King here or there that spotted the mass ships coming but they quickly dispossed of it. Now we have the Marines firing on Amazon Lily while they are defending with arrows and what not else they have going on. Some Kumabots come off ship and start attacking as well as Vice-Admirals and/or Doflamingo. If you are reading and know whats at Amazon Lily, I'm sure you can tell they are pretty screwed (well unless you figure Rayleigh goes all pimp and all) So, we have the tide of the battle hugely in the favor of the WG and seems that it will be for sure doom and everyone dies on AL and luffy loses and so on.
Then off in the distance we see a big mass of objects come rearing our way. (was going to say through some sweet ass fog or something, but its calm belt) As it gets closer we can make out a ship followed by hundreds of Sea Kings, similar to when they sailed into the calm belt before grand line. The Thousand Sunny using its paddle system comes flying through the water to arrive on the scene with all the missing Strawhats on dock and finally back. Since Thousand Sunny is not coated it is being followed as I said by hundreds of Sea Kings who spotted them crossing Calm Belt. They either outmanuever in paddle or combination of coup de burst and so on, but regardless they can move now unlike going merry in the windless calm belt. All of a sudden the buster call ships see this ship coming and hundreds of sea kings behind it and be like "omg, holy shit, what do we do" Check out this clip of Serenity for example

Thus the arrival of the strawhats and joining in on battles of close counters for most, with hopefully Usopp, Nami, Robin and Franky still on ship doing some sweet ass fighting of sea kings and battle ships with the sunny's weapons and their own. Jimbei also is there as well, obviously and helps with sea battle of the buster call and protecting sunny from sea kings, while the remaining strawhats are on other ships or amazon lily fighting the big dogs that came to destroy amazon lily while Hancock and Luffy (with a renewed vigor and drive by his returning crew whom he wanted to see so bad) take care of Doflamingo. Battle ensues, and so on to the victory and celebration and then tearful goodbye where where then we get to the decision on whether Hancock join's or not.
How do strawhats get there?
! Well simple, either Ivankov or the paper. He is currently heading to Kamabaka Island, where Sanji is at or heading back from already. They meet somewhere on sea like Mr. 2 met us heading to Arabasta, or they meet on the island and Sanji gets a ship then. Considering AL is so close to Shabondy and Sanji following vivre card heading there and also Shabondy/AL at red line it is understandable that their ships would cross if Sanji had already left and not still on Kamabaka island. Sanji returns to the Thousand Sunny, other strawhats are there already or some coming in just then as well and they all head off to AL since Ivankov told Sanji where Luffy would be, if not returned to sunny yet.
! Or it could have been in the paper, What did he see in paper? Could be that he saw the WG stating that they are going to destroy Amazon Lily. Does announcing it make sense? No, normally you wouldn't, but they have with WB announced and then Won. They may see that doing that again with a pirate nation that has stood for centuries be another huge win for them and blow to pirates world wide. They also are probably aware that Amazon Lily doesn't get papers but needs to steal them and if they are suspicious that Luffy may be hiding there then they would figure easily that the Kuja pirates would not leave and try to stay under radar, thus be blind to an announced attack. Thus leads us to the "again" as another buster call.
Returning back to my story of them arriving in an epic spread of Thousand Sunny being chased by hundreds of sea kings, followed by epic spread of all the Strawhats standing at front of ship ready for battle in near gear or weapons.
Hancock after war
! Well then comes if she joins or not. Before it was a hard case to crack, but now it seems it could be as easy as Rayleigh deciding to stay and possibly even Shakky coming and staying. Either of them would easily be able to protect Amazon Lily if the WG got the balls to attack again
Well that's it. I know we all don't want some huge arc, but I think a Buster call with also considering all the big names there even if you deduct Rayleigh, and take into factor potential decent power jumps from their own adventures the strawhats, hancock, jimbei and the warriors of amazon lily would be able to take care of this war in say the length of the WB war took. You know some 30 chapters at most. Like at ch. 600 is when the strawhats arrive on scene and then roughly ch. 615 or so we win, celebrate, new potential joining and then off to fishman island with jimbei.
many have thought that kumabots would be good example to show strawhats getting stronger in series, but another buster call could do the same as well.
