Jinbei #1 on my list of "Characters I want fleshed out who's not Monkey D Dragon."
I was actually talking with brennen the other day about this. We would expect him to get some form of running gag and be an idiot in some form if he was going to join the crew. The simplest solution that we've come up with that would fit his character would be if he had a tendency to overdo everything (especially during a fight). The one major example of this is when he used yarinami on the Marine battleship they were going to steal, followed by "oops, I shouldn't destroy that."

Alright look man here's skinny, Jinbei isn't going to join, we have a traditional Japanese style attitude fighter on the crew and we don't need another one. Plain and simple, because this thing is going drag for days and I'm not to up for that.
Zoro isn't a typical japanese style attitude fighter, you have no idea what that is do you.

I really don't want any more crewmembers, since I feel like this separation of the crew is something of a great challenge and accomplishment that the crew will overcome.
To have some other douchebag waltz in and say "HEY CAN I JOIN? WHAT'S THAT? YOU GUYS WENT THROUGH THE EMOTIONAL TRAUMA OF BEING SPLIT APART, NOT KNOWING IF EVERYONE WAS ALIVE OR NOT? WELL I KNOW NOTHING OF THIS, BUT ILL JOIN THE CREW ANYWAY AND ACT LIKE I HAVE AS STRONG OF A BOND WITH YOU GUYS AS YOU DO WITH EACHOTHER."
And I don't even know why people want Jimbei in the crew. He's one of the most dull characters Oda's ever created.

That would only have merit if we were near the very end of the series. Like that one goon in Chrono Trigger joining up right at the end. This is but the half way point, there will be plenty of time for some random dope to get aquanted and have the same bond that all the rest share. To exlcude some potentially awesome fish/mer/god knows what people because of not being a part of the seperation is just lame.

We have Strawhats who didn't make the first major break into the grand line. Those who weren't there to know luffy before he was someone

I would personally like Jimbei a lot more if he lightened up a bit. He's awesome when he fights or does something physical, but his NOBLE AND SERIOUS attitude all the time puts me to sleep.
I have to admit, I would like a fishman/mermaid in the crew. I can't think of any other positions that could be filled except for a character with extraordinary swimming abilities.
Perhaps there will be another crew member simply because at the moment, there's only nine Strawhats, yet there's ten Blackbeard crew members. There's already a few parallels here and there, setting up for final fights.

I don't know if he was created to be loved and be appreciated (so much that he becomes a candidate for the next crewmember) but maybe it's just him? Jimbei as he is… I would suggest to learn to accept him as he is :ninja:

Luffy said he wanted 10, so we get at least two more. One for sure, in case Oda decided to change his mind or whatever. Right now we got two people (Jinbei and Hancock) who are moving in the direction of those final two spots. We are at the halfway point of the story right now, and I'd wager a guess we'll get the full crew fleshed out, before we go into the New World where all the remaining plot points are going to be addressed. To bring in a new character with a new dream when they are in the place (The New World) where all the other dreams will more or less be fulfilled just seems too little too late.
Imo, the Straw Hats desperately need another female to balance things out, adding another dynamic female personality to the mix. Hancock's school girl (Her love for Luffy)/vain spoiled brat slips in nicely with Robins wise and comically sadistic and Nami's tomgirl and money hungry personalities. Hell, even Perona would fit this bill if Oda decided to give her a real character.

Jimbei is looking more and more like he is top candidate to join, I just don't see him leaving Luffy anytime soon, at least he will be a Vivi type that sails for a bit w/ them but he wouldn't leave Luffy alone till the crew comes together and probably not until after FI since that would be both of their next destinations

Ummm… Seems like Luffy's plans are to return to his pals. Seems like he can do it with various ways: Hancock must help in all of the logical ways, though.
Regardless of how it happens, Luffy hopes to meet his nakama-- which, it seems like Perona might be present?! So, unless some crazy thing changes, Perona is certaintly the best choice of a character that can join...
Hancock is still needing a closure that saves her culture from peril, and Jinbei is pending Fishman Island before he is even able to be considered as a candidate.
So, this could hopefully progress a little faster than the current pace.

Furthermore, having an abyss for a "past" is the only truth you've stated-- she HOLDS a personality, regardless of the amount of libel you wanna present. However, that is a plus since Oda could obviously PROVIDE one for her, any that he wishes to insert since she OUGHT to have something available to her during the "unknown years" she lived prior to joining Thriller Bark. Having just that stretch of leeway room allows her to become a thrilling mysterious figure that could eventually have a massive "arc" revealed as her base, sometime in the future.
Removing the hatred and personality stupidity from your argument shows the truth behind everything: you officially have NO provided argument against Perona joining the strawhat crew, nor can you dismiss her chances at all. I cannot establish that she's a given, due to the unknowns of the situation that Zoro is facing and what situation she'll be in when the crew reunites, as well as the idea that she'll get a chance to be placed into such a promising spot in order to join. Despite that, I can, however, rank her as either the premier best, or something elite, due to the speculative content around her character and what purpose she holds currently being in the position she seemingly exists in.
With that, it is something interesting that only willing minds would be able to properly, unbiasedly examine. You, obviously, cannot even bear to spell the words, let alone enact upon their meanings.
