@Refii:
I pity the foo! Soul is a damn weapon,
Yes, let's make him Ichigo Kurosaki: master of pulling upgrades from outta his ass. I mean Soul's a Death scythe now, I wouldn't expect him to get any more upgrades unless there's revealed to be a level above that (which I for sure hope not).
and in terms of magical fairy weaponry, "upgrades" tends to mean character development.
No, only in your magical fairy terms.
Look at Blackstar and his UPGRADES.
Black☆Star's upgrades fit his character, you know the shounen kid who trains his ass off to surpass something or other. They don't fit Soul's.
suddenly everyone loves Blackstar and considers him a deeper character than Kenpachi.
Black☆Star
- wanted to "surpass god", now to become a "bunshin"
- comes from a clan that would do anything for money, memories of this still cause people to discriminate against him.
- has an inferiority complex
- has a superiority complex… xD
Kenpachi Zaraki:
- Masochist
- doesn't know his sword's name
- likes fights
I'm not one to just throw around the word 'deep' but in reply to this I'd say Black☆Star takes the cake.
This is boring, because it's filler. It's not even good filler like last chapter, it's foreshadowing status quo renewal.
How do you know it's filler? Index said that the sins may follow them onto the other chapters so, this might not disappear right away.
Maka has gotten plenty of character development, while Soul tends to remain a mystery. We know of him, but not really. He needs an upgrade that can delve into his psyche in order to unlock it.
I dunno what to say that I haven't already said before.

Also, meant to reply to this before:
@Refii:
That… was nothing like that stupid blog described.
Huh? Aside from some joke comments and/or ranting, the chapter was exactly as she described. So sorry, she didn't put Binktopia's scan for you.
It was an incredibly tame chapter.
Tame? We find out Giricco's clinically insane (from losing Arachne) and is a serial rapist.
Let me say it again:
! HE TRIED TO RAPE AND BUTCHER MAKA! All because in his head it goes "Scythe girl killed Ms. Arachne, me no help, me kill scythe girl… Good plan!"
Nenena wasn't exaggerating when she described Giricco pushing Maka onto a bed and getting upset that she was just gonna sit there and take it like "a dead fish", as he so eloquently put it. Sure, it's tame compared to something like Naruto or One Piece but I'd expect to see something like this in a seinen, not a fun little series like Soul Eater.
