Now I want Sabo to live. I find him funny and interesting.
And that is the first time Oda has shown us such a big island( even though he is revealing the old). One of the few things that I am not happy about in One Piece is that the island are so catastrophically small. Only Arabasta was big enough for a village, much more kingdom, to survive. I thought Windmill village will also be situated on dwarf island. But now it is showed that the island is notably big. And I am once again pleased.
Chapter 584 "The Porchemy Incident" Discussion

I don't expect Luffy to have ANY interaction with the Tenryuubito at all.
Dan Dan was reading about them coming to the Goa Kingdom which lies beyond Windmill village….a place where Luffy said himself he cannot go back to.
Why the Tenryuubito are mentioned? Hmmm I have no clue. It kinda boggles me because I dont know how Oda is going to have them play a part in this flashback.
Many assume that this is going to affect Sabo but the narration basically stuck the 3 of them together so it will be hard to think of a situation where Sabo would be separated from Ace and/or Luffy and have an important interactive experience with the Tenryuubito.
One thing I can think of is that someone/something important to Sabo might be in the Goa Kingdom and he might hear word of the Tenryuubito threatening that someone/something and he feel compelled to go and investigate alone or unbeknown to Luffy and/or Ace and never return.
Another thing on my mind is who/what Sabo ends up to be to Luffy and Ace. At first he is Ace's best friend but I have a feeling he is going to be an enemy.
I wouldn't be surprised if Oda had Sabo hurt Ace's heart by mentioning something about him not caring if Ace lives or dies thus hitting that chord in Ace's heart to hate him and/or become his enemy....leaving Luffy to be the real loyal person...one enough to be called a brother.

Yes well of course Oda is going to bring a Tenryuubito to a Luffy flashback, centered on Luffy's perspective and memories, but he won't even come into contact with them. This would make a lot of sense ONLY IN YOUR MIND.
He may not have identified the force they represented. He may not have acknowledged them or seen them directly or remembered their name or title. But they will have a role to play in this flashback. Saying a Tenryuubito is coming in Luffy's flashback would be pointless without him interacting at all with them. Why would Oda mention it in the first place? If Sabo has a relationship with them and goes to contact them, do you not think that Ace and Luffy will follow? And in doing so, do you believe the resistance that they'll meet will have nothing to do with the Tenryuubito? Especially when the flashback token villain is paying the nobility for their blind eye?
Most humilliating of all, you discarded the possibility that Luffy will go to Goa Kingdom because he can't. Like that has ever stopped Luffy. Nice. If he needs to go he will go.
Similarly ridiculous is the fact that you suggest that the climax of Luffy and Ace's relationship with Sabo is Sabo leaving without saying goodbye to end the flashback.
Your entire prediction for this flashback is a terribly bad, hardly engaging soap opera about teen feelings when we know that a pirate band is after them and a Tenryuubito is near. Do you read your own posts?
-
Maybe Sabo will sacrifice himself to save ace,i am not saying that he will become a slave, its just because of the " that sabo thing" that Ace mention before dieing.

Maybe the Tenryuubito do something to luffy now but he dont acknowledged them in shabondy, maybe its something he will learn in the future and makes he really have a grudge against than and do the so called 'world war', because the man WB told Roger is waiting is probably luffy right?
-
I'm sure Flashback!Luffy will not learn what a Tenryuubito is, but he will meet them. Look at this:
http://www.onemanga.com/One_Piece/497/16/
Luffy don't know about the concept of tenryuubito. He even thinks the dog is a tenryuubito. But then the real nobles appear, and in the left bottom panel Luffy says: "It's them…" with wide eyes and a surprised face.
Is it "It's them" meaning "Oh, so that's what a tenryuubito is", or does it mean: "I've seen those people before" or maybe "I've seen people like that before".
-

He says "is it them" and mis-remembers what the celestial dragons were called. So I think it's simply a throwback to 496.
-
@metteminne:
but wasn't he always called portgas D.ace to hide he was roger's son?
No. As the marines stated when he was on the execution block, he (as in Ace himself) decided to change his name in honor of his mother.
-
What about sabo being the bastard son of a
noble? Or legitimate? That way he doesn't have to die
or become a slave. Instead he's brought back into the
family. Of course that means giving up 5 yeArs worth of
effort to become a pirate. -
And does that S crossed out on aces arm stand for Sabo? Probably already mentioned
-
Just a misspelling of "ACE."
-
Just a misspelling of "ACE."
maybe that was only what we thought, but Oda had something staring at us in the face for a long time.
not saying it is true but it gives one pause…
it is not like he has never done that before.
-
Maybe it just means ace of spades pirate no more
-

The damn tattoo artist couldn't spell.
-
That would make a funny One panel flash back
-
Tenryuubito are going to give Ace his DF as a form of amusement to them, but for some reason they didn't know what DF it was.

Luffy said in Alabasta that Ace didn't have his DF until after he left the island 3 years ago.
-
@AdmiralYonkouMt.Bandit:
Luffy sad in Alabasta that Ace didn't have his DF until after he left the island 3 years ago.
He said something like " I was as well surprised when I found out". Which can mean that ace went away got the fruit came back and then went away. But he said it like he knew before the crew did, but that could be from newspapers.
-

Luffy doesn't read newspapers! Ace must have eaten it before he left three years ago, I have always thought this anyway

That's because Ace saved Luffy from Smoker with his Mera Fruit powers.
-
I dunno guys. I'm still considering that Luffy may have known the Tenryuubito. He might not have remembered their name, or even knew who they really were, but he may have recognized the outfit. I really don't see Oda bringing them into this flashback and Luffy never meeting them, especially since he never leaves Ace and Sabo's side.
I mean really, it's been two years. He couldn't even remember who Helmeppo was after less than a year. And as for the crossed out S in ASCE standing for Sabo, it could be, despite what Oda said. I could see Oda making something up not to reveal a plot point.
-

Luffy did not know Ace had a Devil's Fruit UNTIL Alabasta.

Unless you think Luffy is THAT good of a liar.
-
compare to the Viz translation that actually makes sense unlike the one you asked me to read.
"Even when Ace hadn't eaten the fruit and I had…
...I still couldn't beat him up.
He's tough that Ace!!"
sounds like he knew that Ace had eaten the fruit already before now to me.
-
That's because Ace saved Luffy from Smoker with his Mera Fruit powers.
Yeah that is of course true. But I was as well referring to the sentence " Even when Ace hadn't eaten the fruit and I had I still couldnt defeat him". People have been using these two sentences as a proof that ace got the fruit after he left to become a pirate. I meant that although these sentences apply to that, it could as well imply that there was a time that they fought each other with both having fruit.
-
Son of Dragon, Son of Roger, and some random brat. Nope doesn't sound right. I'm with whoever thinks Sabo is the bastard or missing descendant of a Celestial Dragon or even someone the Tenryubitto don't like.
Why do some think Sabo's dies. Usually when a comrade dies you refer to it as more than an incident. Sabo does something that has Ace want to forget him or pisses him off. Betrayal or he just leaves without saying goodbye after some shit goes down.

This is a flashback. Someone has to die.
-
Sabo will be dead to Ace by the end.

Porchemy died.

I'm inclined to agree, when he acted towards them he was in his serious you pissed me off before mood that he gets in before final boss fights

Eh, you're probably right. I just went back and read the VIZ chapter also. Luffy's wording could suggest the knew about Ace eating the devil's fruit prior to Alabasta. Ace would have needed to have acquired it fairly early to establish his pirate brand.
-
@Cyan:
But not in full view of the flashback's focus, Ace.
Why so serious? :wassat:
I don't think the focus of the flashback is Ace. This is Luffy's flashback. When this is finished, it will make us understand Luffy's current suffering a lot better.
-
Hard for a dead guy to have a flashback.
-
Hard for a dead guy to have a flashback.
Someone will probably point out Norland's and Calgara's flashback just to contradict you.
Flashbacks are more than memories. We often see things in flashbacks that the characters "remembering" it wouldn't be able to see at the time (like Olvia or Kuzan arriving in Ohara; Robin couldn't have seen the scene). Flashbacks are the story itself showing us the readers what happened.
So yeah, we can have a flashback of a dead character. However, the center of this flashback seems so far to be Luffy. It started with Luffy, it showed Luffy trying to follow Ace, it focused on Luffy's emotions more than Ace's.
-
hmm wonder if boa could be there with the tenryuubito, but she was saved 10 years ago and this flashback is from 10 years ago i hear, hmmm
neways my theory is that sabo will be taken away perhaps as a slave, given a crazy devil fruit maybe along with ace, and ace escapes with luffy's help but sabo doesn't. that sounds like the sabo incident. and luffy will now remember and perhaps go get him with boa >:D(unless he thinks sabo is dead). dont doubt my theory, it will probably change when i see the next chapter :P just hope something along those lines happens.
saboboa for nakama. -
speaking of flashbacks/memories, sometimes I wonder whether the SH crews tell each other about their past experience?
Nami's past was told by Nojiko to Ussop & co (IIRC, Luffy walked away and didnt listen)
Chopper's past was revealed (partly i think) by Dr.Kureha to Nami (cant remember whoelse was there)
and others' are mostly flashbacks that only showed to us the readers
(also there is a filler anime episode that shows that Brook read through some notebook/sailing log to understand the journey or whatever.)
-
I have a feeling using 'Sabo incident' was just Oda being vague and not wanting us to know what a Sabo was and that it's dead as Hell until the time was right.
-
if Porchemy dies in a chapter called "The Porchemy Incident", then I sure hope that the "Sabo Incident" is just a mistranslation.
-
You think sado is son of someone? I think he's hte bastard child of sengoku! or maybe an admiral!
-
I kind of don't see Sabo dying … but hurt and beaten really bad.
Kind of the indicator Luffy and Ace needed to learn that they need to become strong to become a real pirate.
I think it would be cool if Sabo is a cruel NW pirate ... with an eye-patch :ninja:
-
Just reading through chapter 525 and noticed that the s on asce
was already crosse out when whitebeard was offering to make him his
son. Maybe it does stand for sabo -
I know that wikias in general are not an useful ssource but in Dawn Island they wrote this:
- Even if it was not known until chapter 584, Goa Kingdom was the first kingdom to appear in the series.
Goa is the first kingdom to appear in the series??? And what happens to Arabasta and Sakura KINGDOM??
-
^ I think they wrote it this way because Fuchsia (sp?) village is part of Goa Kingdom (although not revealed until now)

I mean really, it's been two years. He couldn't even remember who Helmeppo was after less than a year.when luffy ever met a tenryibuto than oda would have for sure made some kind of hint\foreshadowing there.
also i think that the tenryibuto will appear as we know them..memorable assholes.
and when he will have to do with what will happen to Sabo i can`t see how luffy would forget "that". -

and when he will have to do with what will happen to Sabo i can`t see how luffy would forget "that".On SA, Luffy never really gave any true indication that he didn't know who they are. And besides, he may have never heard specifically that they were called Tenryuubito. He may just know what they looked like.
Since I think we have 2 more chapters of flashback (3 would be pushing it I think) we shall know soon enough….

I really wrote that because Fuschia Village like everyone already said; it's a part of Goa Kingdom

This is One Piece not Bleach, Oda would have shown that Luffy recognized the the Tenryuubito if he had ever met them, plot holes are something Oda does not let happen
-
Fake prediction: We're all saying Sabo's name wrong and he's actually 'Sabao', the son of one of one of the Celestial Dragons. Obviously, the Saboady archipelago is named after him.
You heard it here first.
