Escape from monkey island. I don't think I'll ever live down that one.
Games That You Love That Everyone Hates
-
-
Wait people didn't like Viewtiful Joe and Psychonauts?
Anyone who doesn't like Psychonauts has absolutely no heart.
-
Super Mario Bros 2 - The Red-Headed Step-child of the series.
007 Everything Or Nothing - Best Bond game not called Goldeneye
Naruto Ultimate Ninja 2 - Yea they changed the original name of the game,
it might not have a dual audio option, every two levels of the 16 levels might share the same music & a charater and a level might have been removed from the u.s. version of the game but it's still good -
Much love for Gitaroo Man.
Here's a good one that actually meets the qualifications of this thread: Breath of Fire V. Brilliant re-imagining of the game system and the only BOF that could fairly be labeled "original." Too hard and weird for most people.
Record of Lodoss War (DC) and Shining Force Neo/Exa (PS2), basically the same games. I think these are legitimately bad games but I love them. Shining Force was hated because it isn't a strategy Shining Force.
Also, Psychonauts is not hated by anyone who actually played it, it was more just ignored. Perfect game.
-
Sonic Adventure 2/Battle:* Yeah, it had its flaws (like having too many shooting and treasure hunting levels and not enough speed levels) but I still enjoyed this a lot when I first got it. I don't play it much these days though.
Sonic Heroes: gasp Anyway, kinda the same as above, as in it had its flaws (like having everyone go through the same levels and having a story that didn't make much sense) but I thought it was still great. Probably the best 3-D Sonic game I've played in my opinion. I actually got more of a sense of speed than with the previous two 3-D games. The levels were nice too. So overall I didn't think it was as bad as most people say.
Can't think of anything else at the moment.
*Well, I guess it's kind of half and half (in terms of who liked it and who hated it) but close enough. :P
-

AWW yeah, that game was awesome! I instantly loved the characters (except for the one that betrays Ryu , hated that bastard after that) and the fighting was fun. I gotta go get that one!
Also, Psychonauts is not hated by anyone who actually played it, it was more just ignored. Perfect game.
Yeah, the game was great. It's a shame it sold so poorly. I guess people weren't ready for a good platformer.
-
dynasty and samurai warriors.
oh and final fantasy 9 simply because it doesn't have nowhere near as much pole riding fanboys like the other final fantasies and critcally has the lowest ratings.(crystal chronicles don't count)
Imo it owns every ff except 6
-
Battle Network 5 was one of my absolute favorites of the Battle Network series. I didn't quite get why people disliked that whole get rid of dark panels on teh map thing.
FFIX - I absolutely love this game, it's probably my favorite FF. I loved all the characters and the story, even the out-of-left-field final boss. I was glad to get past the brooding main characters of the prior FFs.
Megaman X8 - I'm not really sure how this one was received but I thought that this was awesome. I felt like the series was revived for it's final chapter.
-
The Dark panels thing was a hit or miss depending on how you look at
it,if you were able to beat the boss in a certain number of turns you got
a powerful battle chip, even less turns than that netted you the more powerful
version of that battlechip, but obviously you're going to be getting it all quick like. -
You all mentioned just about a number of games that I like and other hate, but the one that wasn't mentioned yet has to be-
Capcom Fighting thingy, YES I LIKE IT! -

Sonic Heroes would have been great if it weren'y for the frequent stops and broken controls. The speed was great, but after the 1st level there were always slow parts where you absolutely had to stop and kill some enemies, and this was made even worse when you had to wait for the path to actually open! Then when you're going so fast, a slight twitch sends you to your death and back to the beginning of the really, really long levels. That's just my rant, though.
Hmmm…. I really can't think of a game I own that people really hate. Most of the games I have simply aren't played by very many people.
If there is one, I'd say Super Mario Sunshine. I think it's a good game, even if it isn't what everyone wanted it be. Bottom line: it's a solid platformer.
-
the thing about Super Mario Sunshine is that people wanted the game to be too much like 64 which unfair.
Anyway
-
Naruto: Saikyou Ninja Daikesshu(sp) (Ninja Council)
fun game too bad most reviewers lauded the game -
Metal Gear Solid 2:Sons Of Liberty
Yea so you can't play as Snake in the second part of the game
and the story may follow in the footsteps of the last game by
by being a bit convoluted but it was still fun. -
Prince Of Persia: Warrior Within - alot of people torched Ubisoft
when they found out the game was moving in a slightly different
direction then Sands Of Time. -
Ninja Gaiden (03) -Damn good game too bad the MS fanboys buried
it underneath Halo & Knights Of The Old Republic.
-
-
@Sandai:
Prince Of Persia: Warrior Within
This game was good, and people hated it just because the Prince turned brooding and emo in it. The only turn-off I have with the game is that Yuri Lowenthal wasn't doing his voice in this one (although he does return in the third one).
-
I kinda like the Prince's voice in Warrior Within more than the other.
-
WWE crush hour
people say it was a bad game and all it is is just a Twisted metal crossover game with sports.
I like it because its fun and challenging in some levels -
Pilotwings 64. Oh, yeah.
-
Wait wait wait wait wait, wait….
people HATED Pilotwings 64!?
-

I didn't find the stops to be too bad for most levels. I just break out the Power type, smash through them and keep going. (Mystic Mansion had too many stops though.)
I didn't think the controls were broken. Not perfect of course but not broken. And I liked that the levels were long. I mean in SA2 it was like (for me anyway) "Oh this is fu- Oh it's over already?"Something I didn't like though was that you couldn't switch in mid-air so you can't use your Fly type to save yourself from the many bottomless pits in the game.
Er, I'd give a more detailed opinion but I haven't played in a while.
-
Wait wait wait wait wait, wait….
people HATED Pilotwings 64!?
The people I know did. God, it was good.
-
Megaman Battle Network
World Heroes
Mario Party games
Namco x CAPCOM
Crash Banditcoot games
FF9
Sonic Heroes -
i have to say FF9, FF10
And the first sonic adventure one, and 2. and sonic heroes
-
- Ninja Gaiden (03) -Damn good game too bad the MS fanboys buried
it underneath Halo & Knights Of The Old Republic.
I was under the impression that this game was pretty well received. I loved Ninja Gaiden. The old 2D one was awesome.
Final Fantasy III is one game I here a lot of people give flack that I loved.
- Ninja Gaiden (03) -Damn good game too bad the MS fanboys buried
-
@Mr.:

It basically boils down to the simple question of what was the best game on the original Xbox? I wonder how many people will jump out with Halo,KOTOR,
Forza, or Fable? -
-GUNVALKYRIE
-Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
-Reign of Fire (Ok, the human mode SUCKED. However I got a huge kick out of playing as a dragon and razing everything to the ground.)
-FFIX -
!
I can't imagine everybody hated it, but I don't think it was very popular. I always liked how it was RPG style, and you could have two players going at the same time.
This was alot harder to come up with an answer.
-
That game was fun never finished it though.
-
FF9
Goblin: "Rally-Ho!"
Quina: "Rally-Ho yourself."One of the most epic lines in that game. Incidentally it's my 2nd fav. Final Fantasy game.
-
Sonic Adventure DX…i didnt like the horrible dubbing but i liked the game except for Big levels
^ I have that movie
-
I don't find a lot of people that enjoy the old Mortal Kombat games anymore… makes me sad, I used to love those games when I had them.
-
Megaman Zero series.
-
People hated the Megaman Zero series? Those games were awesome and actually had closure in the end.
-
Wild arms Series. Wild Arms 2 is one of my favorite games ever. But Wild Arms 5 was crap.
Plok: I LOVED this game. Awesome stuff.
-
Escape from monkey island. I don't think I'll ever live down that one.
which one is that? MI 2?
cant understand how anyone can hate any of the 3 first games in the series.the fourth one is horrible though. damn "3D" graphics…. ruined everything. (wasn't the camera fixed anyway? what the hell is the point of 3d graphics if you have a fixed camera??) and the monkey kungfu was a let down as well.
-
Digimon World: Dusk. So-so reviews everywhere, but it's the game that I spent the 3rd most time on. Only DQ8 and JUS defeat it in total playing time. For me, at least.
-
Super Ghost n Goblins (Snes) Yea the game is seizure inducing hard but it's fun.
-
Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines.
Not so much hated. More that nobody every heard of it since it came out around the same time as Half-Life 2. Buggy, but with patches that problem is eliminated. Probably the most fun RPG I have ever played with the most interesting NPC's. John Dimaggio voicing a powerful, hobo vampire is the highlight of this game.
-
@Crimson:
-Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
Last time i checked, people loved Majoras mask. Many people just thought it wasn´t as good as ocarina, thats all. Majora is definetly one of the best games iv`e ever played.
-
Raze's Hell
Mole Mania
Legacy of Goku series
Bubble Ghost
Bonk's Adventure series
Yoshi's Story
Tingle RPG -
Whiplash. Though I can understand why so many people hate it.
-
I like Crash Bandicoot; Warped!. I can't seem to understand why people hate their games so much. The unlockable Spyro demo game was pretty hard, IMO.
-
@Aoi:

The first three by Naughty Dog were frikkin' awesome. It was when Naughty Dog relinquished the rights to another developer that people started disliking the series.
-
-
Did people like DB: Advanced Adventure? I know I did.
-
How could I forget one of my favorite GameCube games; StarFox Adventures
It was a pretty darn good Zelda-ish adventure game. The fighting was kinda lame, especially compared to the combat in Wind Waker, but still the overall game was great. I wonder if people hated it because they went in expecting an actual StarFox game…
Oh, and Yoshi's Story. Severely underrated. I want to download it when I get a Wii.
-

Guess the joke's on you, then, since I was talking about the fourth game! HAW! :ninja:
-
Oh, I remembered another. I always had a lot of fun with this game, but lots of people dislike it:
Pac-Man 2: The New Adventures
-
I enjoyed playing The Simpsons: Bart Nightmare for the Snes. I dunno if it was hated, but it was kinda crappy when compared to the arcade game.
…...........
SUPER PACMAN!
Lots of entertainment torturing that yellow thing! :D
There were just plenty of ways to have fun..
Making people to get mad with pacman (wich always ended with him "dying" in some way), hitting random things like animals or Sussy, making pacman to mess up around with a shop, and of course, dumping the super balls to watch how he fainted of fear after being unable to fight off the ghosts.
I always tried to make Pacman was pompous as possible to get better results, but the Mad Pacman was also funny...
-
Pac-Man 2: The New Adventures
I remember renting it once when I was young.
I thought it was weird, and I had no idea what I was doing, but somehow made it to the hang-gliding section. -
@Kaimei-Karasuhebi:

I-I liked the NES one with the aliens.
crawls into a hole
-
I never actually ever got very far into the game, but I really liked just messing around with Pac-Man.
